Just restarted steam and fired the game up. No problems.

To go into offline mode, choose "go offline" from the steam menu.

How shocking, someone who doesn't know how to use the software complaining that it doesn't work when actually, they just don't know how to use it.

Not to mention the doom and gloom about what happens when steam 'goes out business'.

Ive got this problem around 2 h now. And got the tip of going offline too, but I must get Steam started for that eh. But I tried it manually by disconnect my modem. The Steam tried to update again but after 10m of 0% progress I reconnected my modem again. Then Steam (I not use "my steam" any more) started normaly, updasted and all. A little to "much" for a good service eh.

Funny, your OP says 'how are YOU ALL enjoying the fact that you can't play Civ 5?'. Of course not everyone is having the problem though.

Best of luck with the self delusion in the future.

Actually, you were trying to spitefully offer news that the steam world had come to an end. Your journalism just sucks.

Not to mention the doom and gloom about what happens when steam 'goes out business'.

The doom and gloom of the anti-steam clan about us loosing all our games when they go out of business, can easily be matched with doom and gloom of the pro-steam clan who claim that without steam, cpu games would be completely dead by now.

same merde different pile

Except that while your example is abstract, mine is concrete. See above.

So going out of business is an impossibility is it ?
Do you think its OK for people to pay 50 euro for CIV5 and they cant play it cause steam isnt working for them ??? and aswell as that its garbage and broke, and there was lies told about it. Like, Question "will modern units be destroyed by ancient units" Answer "no", lies. Will it cater for the micromanaging player "yes" more lies. If you like being sold magic beans thats fair enough but i dont.

The idea that steam stops piracy is a myth.
Fact - CIV5 has been on torrent 2 days after release.
Dont get me wrong i like steam i own about 20 games on it and rarely is there a problem. But things like this make question its worth. That and civ being a complete rip off.

No, its not an impossibility, even though I never claimed that it was. However it is impossible that steam going out of business will prevent me from playing Civ 5. Even the CEO of steam admitted that unless there is simply something he is unaware of, they would un-DRM all of their games should the company go under.

As for the rest of your rant, I don't have a response as it seems completely irrelevant. I advise you to move on with your life if you feel so much negativity over 50 euros or a game.

This thread is nothing but arguing and insulting, so I'm closing it. If you're having an issue with the game feel free to post in the Support forum.
