View Full Version : How to voice our disatisfaction?

With all due respect I would like to know what we can do to voice our disatisfaction with this game. I think we need a way to act as one if only just to see how many people are actually having problems with this game.

A poll? Petition? What can we do? Anything? Do we matter as beta testers? Does the fact that we bought a game that doesnt work like it was supposed to mean anything to the creators? Why do I get the feel like 2K is flipping me the bird?

I have learned on these forums since game launch is 2 things:
1. My friends, myself and alot of people on here all have archaic lumps of unchanged cat litter in lunchboxes for computers that are incapable of playing the amazingly designed, perfectly tested Civ 5 despite whatever "specifications" we claim to have.
2. I should feel blessed to be actually able to play (partially) on single-player (despite odd AIs, bugs blah blah blah), unlike many people here and it is a perfectly acceptable thing for my friends and I to arrange periodic times to get together online and waste a couple hours every few days to take turns hosting games that will not work because it worked once (for two hours before it kicked some of us off) and that should be good enough for us.

Seriously, are we being told that this is perfectly normal and we should just except it? All I want to do is play the game.

Look, if your reading this and you have no issues with Civ and are enjoying it, good for you and play-on (without the "issues" it would be the best game I've ever played), but just realized that there is alot of frustrated people out there who are die-hard civ fans and have waited along time only to recieve something that is far from what was promised and as a result ALOT of time, energy and nerves have collectivly gone down the toilet.

Surely there is something we can do. ☺☺☺☺☺ing on these forums (I know) are usless it seems (it almost seems like its frowned upon but thats probably just me). Do we have any other options collectively? I have wrath and I know where to get a pitchfork and a torch. Is there anybody with me?

Long Live Sid Meier!

P.S. This has NOTHING to do with the game concepts (no religon, hexes, or whatever).

There have been many threads and polls both here and on Civfanatics' forums, no official representatives have commented on the meat of our complaints about the dumb AI and suchlike, though hotseat is being added in a future patch apparently.

My guess is they're aware of the discontent but they're going to focus on that later. The problem is, we don't know how much later that will be. :(

Their main focus at this point is stability and crashes. I'm pretty sure as soon as they get everybody up and running, they will start major AI fixes and game tweaks.

Then after that we will probably see added features.

Every single poll I've seen at other Civ forums where people thought they were going to be able to prove that the majority of fans are unhappy actually swung the opposite way.

The most recent I was checking on was made by a guy that like others insist that Civ had been dumbed down for the masses, but when he polled the community only 30% agreed with him, 11% undecided, and the rest disagreed.

Happy people keep to themselves, unhappy people complain. Just because you see other people on the forums complaining doesn't mean that they represent the majority. The majority honestly seems to be enjoying the game, and there's no much else that the developers and publisher can do but apologize that you're unhappy and take your opinions into account.

Of course if you're having any sort of technical issues they are working hard to get them resolved, but again it's a case by case thing not a problem affecting the majority. Given that on average 40-70k people are playing Civ V I'd say that most fans are not having major technical problems.

Also, I want to make something clear here. Anymore talk about spamming 2K employees will result in the thread being closed and disciplinary action. Don't go there.

Not at all, Korvus, if you want help, post up in the support forum, and if you can play the game, ill get you playing.

It may not be with all the bells and whistles, but if it can be done, ill do it.

As much as I want that they fix my personal complaints ASAP I have to say hey already 2 patches out to adress the worst stability issues.

Its for them only a job too and there are only 24h a day to work.

A demo was available at launch so we could see what we were getting into (ok the humhhmm multiplayer part surprised me)

I think a simple statement regarding "post mortem launch" and the rodamap of things they still want to do before the inevitable first expansion of the game would be appreciated and would calm a lot of fans. Similar Mr. Bardell for Elemental did.

they just don't care enough to complain etc... just let the others do it... the one that complain are the one that truly love this series and want the series to get better and better...

no want will give complains as many as now and feedback to new lousy bad game that truthfully not have any fans or lovers yet... :)

Yeah. It has nothing to do with the way they went with the game. The game is great if it works. (personally think even with the glitches, its the best if you can actually play it.) The complaints are purely concerning technical issues! I realize that new games have glitches and thats fine. I would never complain about how I think they should have went with the game. I'm not perfect and what I think sucks other people might think is great. We're all individuals.

My only issue is flat out not being able to play the game (on multiplayer). Same issue with my friends. We were able to play together for a couple hours once before it kicked us, since then we have spent alot of time trying everything we can to get another game going but never have. We are all very busy people and its hard to get together online but we juggle things around and find the time only to spend two hours wasteing our time several days. These issues are common with other players and I have tried tech support but I hant gotten anything back. I've wasted even more time trying to research these issues.
Its a great game and we're all just really disapointed at not being able to play it.
Cheers to all those people who can but just have alittle empathy concerning those who cant.
Thanks Quantum. I might give it a shot when I have more time, but Ive already tried everything I've seen so far and my PC (as well asmy friends) are updated but fun time is over for a while because I have to spend the next week wiring a house from scratch with only one other guy. I'm exausted all ready. Argh.

I loved civ 4, but this newer civ 5 is full of bugs. Did the makers not think to beta test anything? These are major issues.... we have the right to complain if we spend 50.00, play for 2 seconds and the thing lags and locks. lucky, I can play 2 turns before it locks. BTW, the game has a massive memory hog on dx11 which might explain the lock ups. The video file is playing in background eatting up your RAM while the game takes it own RAM. guess what.... between OS, game, and Video playing basicly 100% you will have a lock up. not to mention steam trying to push its stupid ads and online updates at the same time. What a joke....

I am half tempted to throw this out my car window at 80mph... at least then I get 2 seconds of "cool, look how it shattered" which is more excitement than what I have got so far.

I like the game a lot --but I'd like it better if I could play it for longer than a couple of hours at a time before it crashes. Brand new laptop - all basic specs met -just hits a point where my NVidia graphics card gives up the ghost! I will post my specs in the support forum in the hopes that this can be fixed.

I think the fine folks at 2K should take this feedback as constructive criticism. Most of us probably like the game a lot -- but expectations are high and it doesn't help when it seems like we're being told that everything will be fine.

It's a very good idea to post to this thread if you are having crashing / freezing / graphics issues.

Are you stupid, or can't you count?

Even if your trollpoll had anything to do with "people don't lilke this dumb game for retards!", your math is wrong.

Go back to your self-aggrandizing thread and leave the adults to talk in peace.

As to the bugs... I guess no one remembers Civ IV launch. Either that or you are deluding yourselves. Have some patience FFS.
