Is it possible to see Hexes all the time?

Does anyone know how to have the hexes visible at all times?

Every time I saw a pic for Civ V, it showed the map filled with hexes, but the only time this happens for me is when I have a city selected.

I definitely want to see the hexes at all times to be able to plan how I arrange my forces. Since there is no stacking and there are 5 potential battle fronts, knowing where to place units that aren't necessarily next to each other to utilize the terrain is key.

G turns on the grid lines.

There is also a button to the left of the mini map, the icon on top of it looks like hexes or honeycombs, click the icon above that and I belive the option is in there to turn it on. Although pressing a hotkey is certainly faster.
