I'm not seeing anywhere that indicates how nations feel about me or each other. I have one nation that has HOSTILE next to her name - that much is obvious, but there is more nuance than hostile or not isn't there? Is there anyway to know if the Greeks are friends with the Russians and hostile toward the Brits? When planning a pact of secrecy this would be quite helpful.
Yeah that would be really nice, I couldn't find it anywhere, the expended diplomacy screen doesn't show much.

They said they hide it on purpose for realism.

well its not very realistic is it?
diplomats and spies know how nations feel towards each other.
its not a mystery that the United States and North Korea are not the best of "friends".

Well, as far as realism goes, I think there is a fairly overt understanding of the feelings nations have for each other on the world stage in real life. We don't understand it in quantitative terms of +1, +2, +3, but we do know when there is friendliness or hostility.

If that's true about not providing us the information, then this is an epic failure. Civ is ALL about giving the player the full information so they can make intelligent decissions based on facts, not on guess work and intuition.
If that is true, somebody please cite where it is written, I'd like to read it before I uninstall Civ IV as It's really frustrating to me as Civ V so far feels to me like somebody just forgot to include a whole lot of information for the player in the game and that's not fun at all in a Civ game, not fun at ALL! Might as well just call it stratego then if this is the true case and not just a bug of lost information.

At minimum we should be able to see indications of things that have popped up in the talks with other leaders (the razzing or the flattering) or in announcements/notifications (that civ X has sworn to protect city state Y). If nothing else, coming back to a saved game you won't remember what things happened in what order.
A screen telling us what we already should know about relations is almost necessary as the game gets more involved.
