I live in Estonia and its like 2 weeks sense the global release of Jimmys Vendetta. And NOT A WORD from 2k.Right now, no DLC is downloadable on steam.I have a feelings that they will never say a word about that issue never-ever.The whole thing just dies and gets forgotten. There was forum topic on this, but no useful information.I'm thinking about searching out the 2k team members contacts and spamming the question to them.
I think it at least deserves an official appology or announcment ASAP!

Use proxy-servers.
There was another thread about how Russians, Czechs, etc. don't get that DLC either. It's not a very good DLC, but it still sucks that parts of the globe don't get it.
Hope 2K sorts things out rather than dumping you off on customer service and your local importers like they did in the previous thread.

It's only available in the United States, Canada, Mexico, France, Spain, Germany, Denmark, Greenland, Faroe Islands, Finland, Åland Island, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.
I had to use a different country code, or you can try a proxy/VPN.

basicly is P2P, VPN need your country IP, or it never works, same with proxy, you have to setup ya router manualy, and it can be a pain.

Just use VPN.
The problem is not that we do not know how to buy this DLC deceptive ways, but the fact that 2K has deprived our country's opportunities honestly to buy DLC for the game that we bought from them. And it seems they are not going to solve this problem or even explain the reason for this discrimination. It has been over two weeks and they were not even issued a public apology.

You can set up a VPN server to fool Steam's region detection.
Or you can change the country code, I've done it many times.
However, I'm obviously not going to post specifics or expand it further.
And yes, it's a pain, but there's no other alternative until they get their act together.

lol you act like this is the first time something like this has happened...
for almost every game with DLC, there are some countries that don't get the DLC in their region. Heck, some regions don't even get all games...
DEAL WITH IT. in a year will you even care about the DLC if you do get it?
Kleetus
09-23-2010, 03:44 AM
Whether it's the first time this has happened or not isn't the issue.
People are entitled to know why they are restricted from purchasing the DLC.
And what makes it even worse is that the full game is available here in Australia, but the DLC isn't.
Yet in Faroe Islands, Greenland and Aland Island they can purchase it....
I could understand if the game was restricted because of it's rating and governemnt legislation, but this isn't the case.

Нихуя не понял и половины того что вы написали. =)
With me is the first time. And before I had no problem with buying games, or DLC.
This DLC has already been translated into Russian. And in the Steam including a full Russian version. That's just me Russian living in Russia and Russian-speaking, I can not buy it. If this is the DLC was not originally intended for sale in Russia, why it was translated?
This is a matter of principle. ;)

1C will not release the collection of DLC on the disc as long as 2K will not release all the DLC. That is, the disc will be released no earlier than next year. I, as well as everyone else who can not buy DLC, do not need a disk, and even more next year. We want to be able to buy DLC on the day of their "international" release on Steam, as it makes the rest of the world. And this is no obstacle except 2K reluctance to make money. They push people to use pirated goods, and even does not explain its position.
2K put themselves in a very foolish position, lost the confidence of its customers' balances and yet did nothing to solve this problem.

Then deal with it as nmycon said. You will have the ability to buy DLC later. If you REALLY want it now, you can buy it. Here's the link (http://forums.games.1c.ru/index.php?type=thread&msg_id=2386469).
Anyway Russia is definitely not the country where 2k earn big money. They can afford to deal with us in any way they want to.

"Later" is in the best case early next year, when 2K deign to release all the DLC, and 1C deign to release them on the disk. No one has called at least an approximate date, and meanwhile, Jimmy's Vendetta came out more than two weeks ago.
If you REALLY want it now, you can buy it. Here's the link (http://forums.games.1c.ru/index.php?type=thread&msg_id=2386469).
Thanks, I've seen it more than once. And I have repeatedly written that the problem is that you can not honestly buy the DLC, but not that it is impossible to cheat Steam. And by the way Steam can ban you for purchasing from another region if the person is actually there was not.
Anyway Russia is definitely not the country where 2k earn big money. They can afford to deal with us in any way they want to.
Valve recently gave an interview where they said that Russia is in third place on sales of their games. And judging at least for the link that you gave, there are many people who want to buy this DLC now, but can not. I have not noticed that 2K once was interested in our market. So far, they just do not care about the problems that arise with their games and their fault for users from Russia.
P.S. I do not understand what you are trying to prove to me. That prohibit the purchase of DLC to specific countries and ignore their customers from these countries is that normal? What is normal to wait for half a year to buy some DLC which is already localized? Or that normally buy games deceptive unreliable ways? = /

Normal, yes. Fair, no.
For marketing reasons that are unknown to me, they don't release it in some countries, even though the full game is available.
And with multi-platform games, they (most publishers, not just 2K specifically) charge more for the console versions, and delay the release of the cheaper PC version.
A cynic would say it's all about money.

I want to say that the position "I want DLC in my country RIGHT NOW" is wong. No matter why 2k decided not to sell DLCs trough Steam for our country. I can see the profit for 1C here. They will print DLC-disks and there will be some big problems with its sales if we will be allowed to buy DLCs right in its release day. So the only way you could legally buy DLC - the disk. And big percent of 1C's profit will go to 2k. Disks are more popular for the people in Russia who buy games. So the disk's profit will be much bigger.

Wrong to want something on the day of his appearance and demand equal rights with people all over the world? o_O
I'm more interested in the fact that representatives of 2K answered why the name of the worldwide release of DLC was not so worldwide. And why is the paper that was lying in a box with the game and read about that in the autumn when the leaves first downloadable add-I will be able to buy it, she lied to me.

That's why I want to hear a response from representatives of the 2K that was involved whether 1C to delay release DLC or not. 1C denies everything, although obviously the fact that they are profitable. 2K as always silent.
The game itself is available for purchase on Steam with the release. And I know many people who bought it there, despite the fact that the price on Steam for more than a drive from 1C. And it had no impact on CD sales.
I want to know why 2K does not allow DLC purchase on Steam for Russia. If all or silent or denied involvement in 1C, 2K is more profitable to release DLC yet people want to buy it. In a few months everyone will forget this is clearly a failed game and more so no one would spend money on a disc with a pair of new missions.
P.S. Judging by the stated price for a drive with some DLC, it is unlikely to bring as much profit as they could sell on Steam.
P.P.S. Most of those people who wanted to buy DLC tired of waiting for a disc or DLC Released on Steam and have downloaded a pirated version or buy it the way you wrote above. This is precisely a negative impact on CD sales. =)

I agree 100% - When people bought the game, they didn't know that they will not be able to buy DLC's - It was supposed to be an worldwide release for them also.
Customers are uncertainty about when they can buy them - and 2K gives no answers.
Mafia 2 will not be popular for a long period - and after few months there are no idea at all to buy those DLC's anymore.
Basically it is much more easier to get an pirated copy with all DLC's than to use proxy's or some other ways to buy them ( illegally as well).
Thinking that US is the only "important" market area is ridiculous - of course games whit deferred release dates or those restricted elsewhere sells best in US - but that kind of statistics is artificial.

Wrong to want something on the day of his appearance and demand equal rights with people all over the world? o_OWell you may want to be a king of the Universe for example. That's Ok. But you can't demand it. With DLC you have the answer: "this content is not avaliable for your country". Why do you want to know the reasons?
P.P.S. Most of those people who wanted to buy DLC tired of waiting for a disc or DLC Released on Steam and have downloaded a pirated version or buy it the way you wrote above. This is precisely a negative impact on CD sales. =)
You're wrong. There's no obstacles for those who want to have a pirated version of the game in Russia. And those people who buy a legal content they have some reasons for this. No additional impact from piracy here.
Using proxies and "proxycap" is pretty difficult. Only people who really want DLC right now and who is good in computer science can do this. So we need a rare combination of willing of spending money for legal content and computer knowledge. I'd say there's a few hundreds of people. No impact again.
When 1C will release their disks they will recieve an additional profit. Because there are some people, who buy the disk because of a fine cover. And there's a lot of young boys who will see this disk in the shelf and will want it. It's easier to ask your parents to buy a game to you when you can point on a box. Showing a webpage is much less satisfactory argument.

If someone has promised to make me king of the universe and has not fulfilled the promise, then I would have every right to demand promised.
You did not read my messages. I already wrote that I wanted to know the reasons, because release of DLC has been declared as a world. Because on the box with the game it was written that on release day Jimmy's Vendetta I can buy it and download. I have every right to an explanation of why they lied to me and I have every right to at least apologize.
I just want to know why a fully localized for Russian users of DLC is not sold in Russia? Why today, the day of their release, I can buy DLC with cars and costumes, but still can not buy Jimmy's Vendetta? Although since its release three weeks have passed. If the DLC is not available for purchase in Russia for some reason why they are so difficult to call these causes?

I'm not saying that there are some obstacles to the pirates. I said that 2K themselves forced people to download pirated products due to lack of alternatives. No sane person who wants to play this DLC, and uses only licensed products, would not wait six months to play some DLC. And those who did not want to play this DLC, and so will not buy it.
Read any Russian forum about Mafia 2. There are practically no people who have not passed this DLC. And those little boys, of which you speak, first download a pirated version and found ways to circumvent the regional security Steam. Proof that at least the same link you gave.
P.S. You have such a strange argument. And you are so zealously defending 2K. Admit it, you just want to argue.

Even if you buy a key for the DLC in any other online store, in our countries it is not activated.
