Hi all,
I am thoroughly impressed by the improvements m2 has over the previous incarnation-great game 2K!
However as many have posted there is no wheel support whereas there was in m1!
Things when done the second time around are supposed to get better are they not?
So guys at 2 K please make this an absolute priority to get wheel support up ASAP for m2!
As there is a lot of driving to be done it would boost many gamers enjoyment of this game dramatically as having to use just the directional keys is passable "and well tweaked" it still would be great to see the support included as it was in m1!
Surely this is a relatively small subroutine to write and shouldn't take too long to accomplish I would have thought?
All in all a great game though guys well done!!!
Cheers

Have just spent the last hour installing the game and cleaning up my PC so that I could get to play what I have waited for for SOOOOOOOOOOO LONG now, and am so flippin' dissapointed that I can't get my Momo wheel to work on this beautiful game, what up!!!!! What's the skinny? What's the problemo?? Why no wheel support on PC on a ...semi-driving game! Sooooo confused as to why this is not working...any news will be most appreciated:( :( :( :( :(

Many people have commented upon this and I am disappointed just like everyone else that likes to play with a wheel, and especially since the original supported it, its horrible that it was not included.

Though Liz has said that the developers are aware of it, so I hope it can be included in a patch cause it would increase the immersion wastly and it would also prolong the lifespan of the game for those who use wheels.

Agree with all you guys. Playing with a wheel has improved everything in the game for me. I just can drive way better than xbox controller crap. Working well with the EMU, but miss the FF big time.

It works "well enough", but the deadzone is a bit to big for me to enjoy it 100% I guess, comparing it to the wheel support in Mafia I, but of course it is a welcome feature of the EMU, if it would not have worked I doubt I would play the game at all.

However even though Martin answered your question about the exclusion of wheel support in the game due to lack of time, I would very much still like to get an answer from them whether it can be included in a patch.

Its ok for me in that I believe them when they say that it is the reason as to why it was not included, but I do not think it is wrong to expect that they can at least release one patch for the game that includes some of the features they initially did not have time to include by release.

I just can't see them doing it for some reason. In their world the game is finished and they have moved on to other projects. It is a shame, because how complicated can it be to add? I don't think it would take a programmer very many hours to do that although I could be wrong.

But seriously a driving game without proper wheel support is like forcing a FPS to use keyboard only.

I know what you mean, but at least liz has said in some post that they are working on a patch, and I guess we will have to wait at least until that is out to see if they will give us the support or not.

I say this in every post on this subject but I can not (just like you) get it out of my head how wasted it seems not to have it included, at least eventually.
Martin said in his replies in his thread that they wanted to focus on shooting and driving, so obviously it makes little sense not to include it at a later stage granted that they can still do it, becasue as I also said in the reply in his thread then it is a technical issue that does not hamper/change the story so it is something they can add without "ruining" or skewing something, it can only improve the game.

Yeah, they said they ran out of time and focused on the story. But I ask, how'd you even get that far if you didn't make a proper driving peripheral working?

Remember this article?

http://thegamingliberty.com/index.php/2009/10/25/mafia_2/

Almost a year ago. Anyway, it still begs the question what was the origin of that? If devs had been using wheels, did they take it out? Was it there just not finished? Or more likely, they revamped the driving model to match a x360 (i remember 2k Jack saying how much time was spent getting driving just right) and that that was also scrapped with the new driving model and so many other things that came under the axe. I just can't get my head around it, because if it was me (self-proclaimed Mafia 's #1 fan :) ) I would have done it before anything else!

Playing Mafia 1 again now, and the steering support is pretty good. Driving the race was a piece of cake on the hardest setting with my g27. Won it easily! Fastest lap was 128.46.

How could you leave that out as a Mafia fan is beyond me.

Damn straight - considering the improvement in game enjoyment I think there is no excuse for leaving such a simple thing out!

Theoretically it's just an input device and should be almost dead easy for a good programmer to do at 2 in the morning with one hand tied behind their back!!!

Unbelievable!

Its a basic requirement as far as im concerned. It should be built into the game from day 1,not maybe added as an afterthought. How can they get the driving model right without using a wheel?.Do we really have to use an xbox 360 controller for all types of games?.bloomin ridiculous.
