I cannot confirm this but for those of you who are having trouble with the activation, if you buy the game then "pirate" it from somewhere then it may still be legal.

That is how it is with ROMS, if you own a copy of the game, you can download it so I don't see why this wouldnt be legal.

Please, no flaming.

not like that with roms, You cannot download copies, I think you're allowed to download cracks and such for a game you already own. As for roms the rom has to be an exact copy of your game for it to be legal. And there are several mario 3 versions for example. Download the wrong one and you = pirate.

lol.. lots of people misuse that.

Pirate = Someone who either hacks, tapes, ect something in order to SELL it for profit. ( For example, Selling illegal copys of movies )

Pirating is not putting something for download for free ( or downloading it for free )

However it is still illegal as it gose against copywright laws if I remember correctly. But its not piracy.

No, downloading any commercial rom, no matter whether you own the cartridge or not, is illegal. The "you may only download this if you own it" thing is a lie; that kind of law would be completely unenforceable.

no it's not... If you download the exact same copy you have, you can use it legally. However, whatever copy you download will likely not be the same as yours. Also distributing any rom is illegal. Maybe that's what you were thinking of?

I don't believe this thread was about "piracy" so there should be no problems, as the guy above points out - that's something different. The guy here was pointing out that using a crack to bypass the trojan that you get when you install a legit copy of BioShock might be legal.

The publisher gets their money, the consumer gets "fair rights" to use what they paid for. That's all he was suggesting.
