About 5 months or so ago I posted a thread here saying that Take-Two and 3D Realms settled. And it was also said they are working on the game again. Nobody belived it. I knew it though...

I called it! :D

Very few FPS games are of epic status. DN3D from 1996 is so good, it it still playable, still ahead of its time, and there are still plenty of maps made by fans to keep us busy. But a new title? If it has half the innovations the original did, then 2K will have another Bioshock on it's hands!

Congrats to Gearbox, TakeTwo/2K, 3D Realms.

Get ready for the crossover game, Bioshock Nukem, Duke in Rapture. "That is one spliced up lady, shake it baby." - Duke Nukem

Too bad Duke Nukem and Bioshock are way too different and don't compete.

At the very least there must be a cameo to a few games like DN3D did. like the prison level where Duke comes accross the doom guy (dead) and he says "thats one doomed space marine!". Another one is the level where there is an earthquake, the buildings start to shake, and Duke says "I aint afraid of no Quake" (refering to the then upcoming title "Quake"). :D

Mabye DNF can cameo Bioshock or Half Life. "Thats one crowbared Gordon" or something I dont know I cant think of anything right now :o

Nothing can beat Bioshock in terms of storytelling, narrative and depth. Then again, you can't beat Duke in terms of alien murdering, babe rescuing and saving the world.

Two very different games sit on a shelf in the store:

The latest Bioshock and the latest Duke Nukem game.

Both equally awesome, both taking the existing story and game mechanics to all new levels - both look increadible.

I think more people would grab Duke Nukem over Bioshock, and Bioshock over the latest military tactical shooter.

All different yes... but if a gamer plays in different genres, I think Duke style gaming comes out on top.

Oh, God no...

So... Duke Nukem is some badass guy with glasses and some guns, from what I understand. Don't think BioShock has any competition, to be honest. ;)

I have to agree with you. I can't see it being quite as successful as Bioshock was actually.

SO

Bioshock is another attempt at an eye candy Horror/Sci-fi shooter with shocking choices for killing or saving a little child over and over  , spells, typical repetitive gameplay, repetitive enemies, with a gibberish narrative, and some puzzles.

I like Bioshock, but all of these are just another game if you want to play critic.

Really? Because I have played many games since my Atari days and this was the first game that left me feeling changed after it was over, there has to be something to that. Mechanics, FPS, all the laundry list of similarities to other games aside that is not what made Bioshock different.

In all fairness, I think Bioshock has the most creative and beautiful environments I've ever been trapped in :D

I was most "Shocked" by the scenery. :)

That new game in the sky makes people say it don't look like Bioshock, I dunno, but I'll buy it, that's for sure.

The best one is one you cone across a Duke 2 arcade machine and Duke says "I don't have time to play with myself." that, that is classic.

Indeed it is. That is level 1 where duke approches the "Duke Arcade game", and if you press the use key, he says that he doesnt have time to play with himself. :D

Duke Nukems famous "doomed space marine" reference (Duke 3D's cameo to the 1993 FPS game "Doom")

Oh I forgot...does anybody remember the secret places with the secret messages, espicially the "Dopefish" refrence? :D
"DOPEFISH WAS HERE" Was a famous cameo made by many games in the 1990's to the old Commander Keen game. There is a place in Duke Nukem 3D where the phrase is written...but it is a very dangerous place to be unless you have a jetpack! ;)
