The more we wait for updates about game features not yet announced and not receive any the more disheartened I am getting... I would think being so close it would be more exciting but I am still waiting for info on multiplayer and other new features.

How long has this game been in developement? has anyone been waiting a long time? I recently started getting interested in it after reading about it on MMORPG.com.

I get the feeling we're not going to get any more updates until the release date so that the final game itself has some surprises for us (and the reviewers) to get excited about.

That said, I'm definitely getting more excited as time passes. The release of a new Civ game is a huge moment in gaming.

There is still the goodies page but this might be mainly for the demo or something else. Even then, I am not sure when this page will open. Maybe on the game's release?

Me too! Can't wait to kill the Frenchies!

But I'll miss killing the Spaniards.
And the Mongols.

But I can't wait to check out the Iroquois!
And the Ottoman!

I would like a few interesting updates to raise my excitement a bit but it's not like I'm going to cancel my pre-order so what difference does it make? I'll be playing the game in 20 odd days & there's nothing 2k can do to change that. If they can't be bothered to give us updates, it doesn't really change anything. Everyone here who was going to buy it is still going to buy it.

Tue, we all most likely are going to buy it if we spend the time on this forums. But what 2k is missing out on is WORD OF MOUTH...

The more excited they keep us, and the more info they release the more of us will go out and tell others we know about this game and the "cool" features.

Instead currently we have an unfinished website advertising the game and still a lot of questions on gameplay.

You're right. In about August 20th, I posted a thread about an 'info drain' where we were getting so much info that around now we wouldn't be getting any. But then other posters came and told me that there would be plenty of info, and there'd be no drain.

But here comes September, we have just over three weeks left. And we should probably be getting features everyday. But we have no features for the past few weeks (unless you count that social responsibility thing, but that wasn't really about gameplay). Where are the updates, Firaxis? (and 2K Greg?). Where is the MP info?

Absolutely 100% more excited. I can't wait.

Even though I may have to.

My guess is they will give us a bunch, bunch more stuff the week before release, exactly to get us exited again - they can't give away everything now, then the flame and impulse would be gone by the time the game comes out, and they wouldn't want that...

The lack of new info isnt a big deal considering how much there is on sites like civ fanatics and civ analyst. I guess I just wish the official site was more complete and, well, more official. It is kind of shocking to me how little of the information that is out there is actually on the "official" site. When Civ 3 was released they started releasing notes on the civs 2 at a time every week until release. Not much info but on a constant schedule so you felt something building. By the time it was released the site was complete as well. I guess its not the volume of info that counts its the regularity of releases from official sources. When there is a regular release you can have something to look forward to in the short term instead of the release date forever away; you aren't checking the website daily and being disappointed you're just waiting til the day of the week they normally release stuff; and finally you have a sort of a countdown that reassures you things are on schedule.

Either way this is still nothing in comparison to Diablo III. There hasn't been an update on their official site for a full year (not counting the WoW snuggie and Deckard Cain GPS, funny as they were). Now that the fun of checking to see if they really were going to go a whole year without an update has passed I've given up visiting all together.

Drastically less interested.

This game franchise is moving away from what i loved about the series. That being complex simulation play and moving into a more dumbed down RTS style game. The removal of resources like Stone and Copper were the final draws for me, when you remove two resources with entire AGES OF MANKIND named after them because of their significance to development at that time its clear your just pandering.

Obviously 2k just wants to appeal to players who want to develop tanks and nukes on turn 4 and fight wars instead of staying true to the games simulation and historically accurate roots.

Posting the same thing in multiple threads with such vociferousness, and seemingly bile, might be considered impolite behaviour... you don't need to say it in every thread even vaguely appropriate for people to see it.

That is what this thread is about, some will be extremely excited and fond of the way 2k is doing things and some will have a different perspective on things.

I for one welcome his opinion and find it has merit.

Im here cause I really dont like RTS (I bought Starcraft II and hate it), Not fond of the style of play, prefer turn based or mmo style games which require more time and careful planning, so I hope 2k is not steering this game to a more RTS feel.

I'm looking forward to the game, many new fetures have whet my appetite for release.

I hope we have much more modding info prior to launch. However the 'proof of the pudding will be in the tasting' as they say. If modding is going to be on a par with or even exceed CiIV then i'll continue to play. But should DLC take precedence over mods CiV will be relegated to the uninstall button and CiIV with its ample current mods will return to its hotspot on the desktop.

TLDR: excited but modding better be as damn good as 2k have hyped it up to be.

Um Both threads were about your issues with this version, therefore the statement is relevant. Read more, speak less.

They've never said anything about how they don't want to spoil anything. They just kept quiet about the whole deal. I am pretty sure we'll be surprised even more when the game comes out.

I absolutely cannot wait for Civ V, and every day it only gets worse. I've been trying to keep myself sane by playing Civ IV, but it just doesn't cut it now

Somehow, I had no idea Civ V was even being made until late August/early September, when I randomly decided I should get online and see if it was happening. Imagine how happy I was when I only had less than a month to wait!

I just wish the demo was coming out, say, right now...

I'm also really excited to see what mods people come out with. I'd go absolutely ape sh*t for a Star Trek mod (maybe similar in style to the Final Frontier mod for Civ IV). Maybe I'll have to learn to mod and give it a shot
