This game was completly half assed. [: Thank god i rented it, so i decided to go back to Mafia I just to mess around a little while, then decided to pick back up my real games like Modern Warfare/Bad Company, oh lets not forget GTA4 and EVEN Saints Row 2, which is sad they couldn't even beat that arcade game. Mafia 2 , was poorly made, i beat it in 7 hours and 23 minutes WOWW, just to find out, THERE'S NO ****ING FREE ROAM . The lyp syncs NEVER lined up with the voices, NOT EVEN IN THE CUT SCENES, I feel sorry for all you fanboys and people who bought this game. I followed everything for the past 4 or 5 years, and i didn't make this account for the forums until i realized how much they made this game LOOK good and truly that's why they got this big fanbase. I was very disapointed about this game, I was honestly hyped up until the demo came out, Animated falls, you couldn't put ragdoll in at least? i mean all these TINY details add up. But yet, i find this game has one of the best driving simulations in any sandbox genre, and the destruction is amazing, but with a HORIBLE ending, and dull story, it wasn't really worth even the 7$ or 7 hours i put down on this game. So if you haven't bought this game, don't. Just rent it, It's a fun game to mess around in and it gets you some easy trophies/achievements. Play it on hard, cos it was still pretty easy with AI just waiting to get shot by reloading in the open. Thank you for listening to my opinion, please do not comment saying I am biased, i did have some good moments in the game, just not many, it was a 6/10 game, and with no online multiplayer, it has no replay value to me. But this is just my review, but in a few short weeks this game will probably drop from 60$ to 30$ so just wait if you want to buy it, :l i had alot of hope for this game....

I'm not a fan of cliffhangers. xD But that's my opinion. I wish that Vito would have kicked some serious ass, and at least died trying, instead of completely look like he didn't care

I loved the cliffhanger ending. I personally think that they should have shown Joe getting killed for a bigger emotional impact, though .

I highly doubt you beat the game in 4 hours and some change. Even with skipping the cutscenes it's impossible.

well you don't really know what happens, like if Vito goes phycho or something, or he truly lets joe die. But i agree with you, they should have had a solid ending, thank you for not bashing me, I only stated my opinion and now i have kids not even old enough to play this game thinking they're so cool defending this 6/10 game. I honestly enjoyed it, but i never felt emotionally connected to the game, like in Red Dead Revolver i felt all the emotions, it was a masterpiece. You know? But this game had so much potential, I really wish it had more replay value and had a better impact :l

I think they gave us this ending for a transition into future content (Mafia III or DLC I think). Or it could be like a Sopranos ending, where you never know what happened. I felt really connected throughout the game, but I guess it all depends on the player.

Yeah I just checked, it was about 7 hours and some change, It didn't seem that long, still thats pretty short compared to the 30 + hours on GTA or Red Dead.

good post...All valid point. Trust me, there's a whole lot of us that feel the same. Just take a look at all the threads. 2k dropped the ball here imo. 60 dollars for almost no content whatsoever.

And now they want to charge us for DLC that should have been included in the first place

I can tell you for a fact that it is impossible to beat the game in that amount of time, even if you skipped every single cut scene. Unless you did not have the entire game, it is literally impossible.

Yeah, i was one of the first to rent so I got the DLC for free which was cool, and the DLC is pretty lame too, it freezes up alot which is wierd cos i never had the problem during the regular game .

You appear to have posted just as I did. ;) There's a lot of misinformation on the forums, so I'm trying to clear up what I know for certain so people can get an accurate picture of the game. Opinions of whether it was good or not I can't debate - everyone has a different view on that!

7 hours is still at the very fast end (up there with a speed run done by QA skipping all cut scenes.) You might want to bump up your difficulty or try and find all the cars and collectibles - because that's definitely not a norm for the time!

No - I didn't say that. I said he might want to do it!

I think the story and the city and the gameplay is the reason to play it again. We've been playing it for years, and I'm still booting it up this weekend!

Mafia 2 was ok. It took me a lot longer then 7hrs to finish I think 17hrs with a short break. The only real complaint I have is that the Mafia series doesn't portray the mafioso underworld of organized crime. Plus someone has a car/driving fetish instead of writing a solid story

hes not lying ill upload my screens of beat time watching all the cutescenes in a less more than 9 hours in normal but i have to be honest, i suk regarding shooting games, im good driving but in the fights i tend to take cover for long time. ill upload the links once im in my game pc.

regarding the main post.

i myself consider an huge fan of the series especially becouse i love the 20's - 50's; somehow i feel a huge saddly feeling with the game, the history its nice but not better than mafia 1, the end its **no words** , and many features we was waiting arent there. as a fan i gave it a 7/10 only becouse the tommy part almost make me cry.

2K elisabeth, you have to admit that gamers pay attention to "details" like they want to be in charge in games, they don't always want to be passive like in heavyrain. Gamers need to express themselves. For myself i really like the atmosphere in mafia 2. I enjoy staring at what the devs did for so many years. I am full of respect for those artists. I want to work for the video game industry that is why i study.People have the right to be disappointed. And don't forget that this is game is rated 18, so you are more likely to come accross mature opinion (not always especially tonight!) but i have read interesting and valuable comments tonight.I really hope you will understand your "customers" who are also dedicated and passionated just like your devs. Thank you for reading. Regards.

This is exactly how I felt, I'm going to UCSD (university of san diego) first going in to it, i wanted to be video game animation, but then i decided to major in statistics (fun huh? -_-) and minor in music, but hey, keep on the that track if you want to, it's a good and GROWING industry.

I think a lot of developers work in a bubble where what they see they like. In creating mafia series they see the world they build and share there idea's and they like it. But the gamer like myself is forgotten about because to a degree I pose a threat if I don't like the finished product and I may not be on par to what they see in their bubble.

I was really hoping too see a strong mafioso story line. But I ended up watching The Godfather movie and Wiseguy movie later too get my fix.

probably because it ended like every other mission and implied the actual ending will be DLC and cost extra like everything else in this game (free roam, superchargers, flame paint jobs, decals, side missions, etc)

very true, look at the dev's over at natural motion, yeah BackBreaker isn't exactly Madden but they turned a 4/10 game into a 7/10 game with a patch from a list that alot of the gamers constructed that needed to be fix, so there may be hope for M2, if it's free....

I really think you guys are getting your hopes up if you think that they will resolve the story in DLC. It ended abruptly, but it doesn't mean that the ending will be made clear in more content. I think they left it up to the gamers to decide what happened.

If they do anything, make a free roam with infinite money, then i might decide to pick up the game again when its selling on the 'under 20' rack. [:
