View Full Version : Bioshock Killed My XBOX

Bioshock killed my XBOX 360 core on release day. I had been as excited as hell to get it for weeks. I got the three red lights of death 1 hour into the game. Fair enough as it’s a known hardware fault on the console. I went and bought an elite as I was desperate to play. The game played fine until about a quarter way through when all the textures went crazy. When I load up and start a saved game it takes 5 seconds for the world to set itself straight. There are horrible basic looking textures everywhere. Then during play characters frequently look like clay models, there is no detail on things I am looking at (med packs especially). Surely the team play tested and found these faults prior to shipping (i’m assuming this happens to other people)? How could they pass a game with such glaring faults (I’ve never had this in any console game)..It completely ruins the atmosphere. How all these magazines are hailing it as the best game ever is beyond me. Which version have they been playing? I bought system shock 2 the day it came out and it surpassed anything before or since for me. Bioshock in its current state is not even in the same league. I feel cheated paying £50 for a buggy piece of software, but this is as nothing compared to the overwhelming sense of disappointment I’m currently feeling at having my (admittedly) high expectations for the game crushed.

With a 33% chance of any 360 failing, your xbox is doomed to fail when playing any game.

It broke my xbox to and I returned the game. Have yet to finish it and no longer care to with their drm lovingness on the PC.

I had the same problem with textures and the like after loading up, it was really annoying. No other bugs though and it didn't last for more then 5 seconds for me.

Any Xbox next gen game on the 360 is capable of breaking it though. Its a faulty console system. The Xbox is the biggest load of crap ever made. Only problem is it has the best games out of any other system, has the best online, and basically everyone who does console gaming is screwed into getting one. My NES works better then my xbox.

Ditto, and my Xbox 360, which I've owned for a year now, hasn't had a single problem, and I put some wear and tear on mine. I play it straight, for at least 10+ hours at times, and sometimes, I walk away, and forget it was on, leaving it on the dashboard for about, 4 hours. Not a single problem, outside of sometimes, my disc tray gets stuck, and have to poke it softly to open, or manually close it. Or times where it says, "Open Disc Tray" When it's open o_o Other than that, gameplay is flawless.

Yeah you can't blame Bioshock for this one i'm afraid. It could have been any game that got the GPU all 'hotted up'

Hell my 360 has given me 3 sets of RROD in the year since i've had it and I've not even been PLAYING a game at the time (mostly just switching on).

For some unknown reason it kept going but I fear it must be on it's last legs even though I take extreme care of it and treat it like a princess.

I gave my Xbox 360 the Red Rings Of Death on purpose once. When it's plugged in, and turned on. Unplug the Video Cable, from the back. LMAO!

Red ring of death is a known issue. I hope it never happens to mine. Sorry to hear about your problems. You are missing out on a great game.

Yeah '3' is the magic number.

Should have had 14 LEDs on it and lit up '13' of them if you ask me.

Yeah as others have stated you really can't blame Bioshock for your system revealing a fault. Just get it returned to the retailer if its under a year old or call MS - You've now got a warranty that will RoD for 3 years.

That's not a Bioshock issue it's an Unreal Engine 3 issue, happens on Gears of War all the time.

Maybe people shouldn't be doing nothing but videogames for more than an hour a day? I think you might have gotten your next three months in, already.

Your crashbox crashed itself. Not Bioshock. THat is what you get when you purchase Microsoft early software/hardware, you get to be the donkey that tests their crap for you, but no worries, by the 3rd or 4th version of the Microsoft console they will get it right and own the market.

My 360 is even older. 2005 December. Its used even more then Xenos. I have left it on 24 hours plus by accident.
