View Full Version : DLC greed ruined our hopes of a decent community?

Having read some old reviews and my own personal thoughts, I do think 2K's greed has ruined their own Multiplayer. We will never have a large community and will find it more & more difficult to find games.
The DLC which enabled you to get to rank 50 was nothing but pure greed and alienated so many people. As if the leveling up system wasn't off putting enough for noobs you have to pay to get better, NOT something that's going to win you rave reviews.
Then there's the maps which you cannot get a game on unless you go private or you're lucky enough to get a lobby full of people who have paid up for them.
I seriously hope in the next Bioshock they think more about the community and less on thei wallets as acts of greed such as the DLC have done nothing but alienate and reduce the online community.

Every game is backed by a company that didnt make the game as a community charity case, but instead to make a profit.
Im not saying your point is not valid, as it definitly IS.
I just see it a little bit differently. They simply added additional content just like all good games do these days. Good for them.
It was the implementation of this content that was a serious mistake and oversight.
It has caused issues with the playing community (I havent turned the game on since hearing the outcry of other players saying that assisting others getting into a room, which I was doing, to play is considered "boosting").
They can still fix this. Of course, the longer they take, the more damage it does..

Well, lots of games have a rank system. Doesn't COD go up to 70 or something? I'm barely rank 20 and see it as a challenge! :D They certainly do not have to pay to get better (although Sawn Off is BEAST). Hell, Robert Hamilton, number 1 on the Xbox leaderboards, is only Rank 40. He hasn't paid a cent for DLC
I can get on the maps almost anytime I want, but they're kinda boring now...
There's lots of opportunities on these forums to find people with the new maps, with people helping each other out, so I'd call that a decent community :)

From what I've read from your posts, you seem to have a very misinformed view on what Boosting is :o

MY interpretation of boosting is this (broken down via examples):
Getting lower level players to start a game with you with them who is higher level to grief lower players and gain easier xp.
Getting into a game to simply hack turrets over and over for easier xp.
Example of NOT boosting:
Starting a public lobby with me, an alt acct and inviting friends to join to form 4 players and launching Adam Grab (requires only 4 players to start) so it will generate a new map we can all play on (more join who have the maps rapidly after that).
I dont believe I was "boosting" and know what my definition is. However, like I said, the community has said otherwise that my actions were boosting.
I disagree but decided to just wait until the fix comes out instead of offending the community or being potentially targeted as someone im not.
Ok, I just know you've mentioned a few example recently :o
Going into ADAM Grab solo isn't boosting. It's boosting when 4 or 5 people team up, don't kill each other, and one person keeps the Little Sister or they all hack turrets
And, going into a room with team-mates is definitely NOT boosting. I'd love to know who accused you of that!

Heh, actually, if this is the same Ian from my friends list, you have (and ill be as accurate as possible here) said that I have "exhibited behaviors of a booster" via Xbox email before.
Do you remember that?
I believe your accusation was based on what you just mentioned. You believed that I was allowing (as if, im not the lord, what someone does once in a match I cant control) people to hold the sister and gain xp/achievements.
What I have said to EVERY single person who enters a room with me once I launch it when they ask "are you buys boosting or going for achievements?" is this "Well, im just launching this so I can enjoy the new maps and help others enjoy them too, I already have the achievements and dont care about getting wins per say but I will certainly be killing all of you every chance I get.." :)
So, if that was you, please explain why you did say what you said then, if you can remember that is. :P

Btw, that process (not caring about the wins and just focusing on killing peeps) KILLED my win ratio so I hope you folks enjoyed it!!
lol
My logic was simple, the more people want to keep joining the game in hopes of getting their wins the better for me and other to enjoy the new maps.
It worked out well and I really enjoyed it (dont care about stats as much as fun).
:)

I vaguely remember. You invited me to play on the new maps, yeah? I think I played a game or two and quit, told you I don't want to play ADAM Grab solo. Why would I, when I can play Civil or Capture on the new maps?
EDIT: Wait, I remember now :D
We were playing ADAM Grab solo (Fighting McDonaghs, I think) and you wouldn't pick up the Sister, you were just going around killing everyone and anyone. If you were going to do that, you should have messaged people beforehand. The rest of us were actually trying to play the objective! I didn't know what you were doing! You sent me a few invites before I joined, so I thought you guys were boosting

Yeah I remember playing a few civil war maps with you.
The problem was people werent vote kicking and then old maps would keep comin up.
I was too impatient knowing we could be playing ONLY new maps so I eventually backed out and went back to Adam Grab.
My fav game modes are Capture the sister and Civil War so believe me thats where I would prefer to be.
Its just that knowing you can play ALL the new maps ALL the time with the Adam Grab method by being more persistent was more appealing.

You remembered correctly :)
If you read my "logic" to why I was doing that you will understand my reasoning.
You may disagree with it, but thats my reason for it.
I wanted to play the new maps I paid for, and as much as possible.
My actions gave me that, for over a week straight I played on ONLY new maps and really enjoyed it, sans game restarts and conflicts of interest.
