If you don't mind me asking, what is your heartburn with IS? I get the hate for GL. I never use one personally (even as a noob, I don't have one in any of my loadouts). But as someone who never uses IS, it looked to be very effective against you. What upsets you about it? Is it considered "cheap" or something? It's mostly the blinding aspect, yeah...but I was mostly just overly-complaining.

First off, let me say that I enjoy your videos Rybow.

As for the little play-by-play, I'm sure you have alot more insight to share than just simply whining about your opponent's choice of loadouts. Don't get me wrong, I know where you're coming from since I'm not a huge fan of GL primary users either because it's so easy to use and master. I'm just saying, if you're going to pick apart someone's playstyle as spam bees + shoot or GL spam, you're playstyle's not really that different. You simply use electrobolt and then spam MG or pistol. And I'm sure once you get the xbow at level 10, you will do your eb+HS+eb combo until you get the elephant gun. So I can easily sum up your playstyle as zap+shoot - and that's actually what it is. Heck, you had aerodash as a secondary so you could've easily turned the tide in your favour when going up against the IS+MG user - but you didn't utilize that.

Still, it was nice to see that you battled your way to get the win as opposed to just roflstomping everybody. I would like to see more varied playstyles though, as opposed to the usual zap+shoot fare that was your 1st 4 videos.

You could record, render, upload then you're safe to delete the video from your hardrive to make room for more.

Thanks for the comments on my montage. I'm glad that you guys found it entertaining. I tried to make it more than just a strictly headshot montage.

I decided to upload this survival match mainly because of the trial completion, Call me Ol' Fashioned. A rank 2 player almost won, he had a lot of kills compared to all the others. I like the guy at 3:06, I have not seen other players try that. The player at 2:33 seemed to be teleporting and the only one in the match that did that. I get some easy kills at the end..sorta funny..

I actually saw some of your other videos recently and I enjoyed the ones wherein you were going for no-stun headshots or using 'foreign' loadouts.

I'm sure you know this already, but if you're going to use incinerate, it would probably be wise to have aerodash as a secondary plasmid. The amount of accidental fire transfer that happens with that playstyle is huge and AD increases your survivability by giving you the ability to put it out. But i can see why you had Tk as a secondary on that particular occassion though. Neptune's Bounty is a barrel fest afterall.

Thanks! I'm glad they can be somewhat helpful and somewhat entertaining. I've actually recorded up to Episode 10 and have been holding them back until others get more views. By tomorrow, I should have Episode 6 up. I just posted number 5 earlier today. Hope you keep watching them, because there should be many more to come, haha. :)

Yeah, the "foreign" loadout vids were fun to make because they put me out of my comfort-zone. I've already recorded up to Episode 10, but I'll start mixing up my loadouts more to show more variety...because the videos definitely need some...and I'll probably equip AD as my secondary if I use Incinerate, haha.

Wow, good game. It demonstrates why you are one of the best players on XBox. You know the maps well and how to move around them to your best advantage, as well as being an outstanding marksman.

Do you find the EG easier to deal with that the CB? No stuns needed and reload is about the same speed.

In close quarters and without stun, I find the EG to be easy to use, but when I have to aim a long distance, with or without EB, it’s a lot harder to aim compared to the CB IMO, so I prefer to use the CB with EB all around.

Though I do wish the crossbow would be a one hit kill even without the damage increase so I wouldn’t have to stun every time before the shot, especially in close quarters. Yes, I could just start to use the CB with damage increase, but I find myself a lot less effective with that upgrade.

On request of a friend, here is a civil war match on Fontaine's Fisheries. I had forgot to put rez back on my loadout for this match. My first time getting the suit on this map. Sadly my time in the suit did not last long, so I found the quickest way to die when I had very low health.

That was probably my worst game in months couldn't find anyone alone and the team wouldn't stick together. sorry about the nades I never have them on but the amount of Rez made it a necessity almost.

Hacking against a team of top players, or against a few good individuals in SOFT is a death sentence. I wouldn't touch a turret/vending machine unless it's well covered and your flank is covered. Not hacking > Hacking

Hi Soapy, but I have been lucky with hacking...the other day I was at 18 kills, the second place guy was at 16 or 17 and, (if I remember correctly) he was the Big Daddy and then the game ended...I got a double kill from a Circus of Values!

Cool commentary, definitely interesting when you can hear a person’s thoughts about their own game play or thoughts in general about bioshock.
And about hacking, I find that it’s sometimes worth your while, just like using death trap or resurrection as tonics, it just depends on what kind of opponents you’re up against.

I really enjoyed your video. Its really interesting to hear your thoughts and watch you play at the same time. The guy who kept beating you with Insect Swarm is so annoying, I played against him today and that's all he ever spammed. Luckily he didn't kill me as often as he probably could have, but I feel your pain! :p

My two cents about hacking turrets: I always try to control the Machine Gun turret on Arcadia, the top turret on Home For The Poor (very important) and the rocket-turret in the museum. I'll also keep an eye on the turrets in the Medical Pavillion and Heaphestus. The rest, I feel, are pretty unneccessary to control.

Yh errrm I dont hack much at all, Im going to start though because the other day i was playing and the first time i got shot at by a turret which the person had the deadly machine tonic on and wow those turrets take over more than half your life in about 2 seconds, So I'm going to use that and speed hacker and see how i get on.

Amen Hartigan! I destroy all turrets at the beginning of every match. The most annoying thing is civil war with randoms I have seen them sit back and watch me destroy them and immediately start repairing them when I finish! It's like they thought I was getting points for destroying it?

No gamer tags please, haha. Nobody has influenced my gameplay more than you dmac. I no longer use rez, I have a newfound love of barrels, I despise no-talent body bombs, and most turrets now get destroyed. Thanks for showing me the light.

Thanks. And I actually dislike the bang and that big motion the elephant gun does after you fire a shot, I prefer the more subtle crossbow.
I agree with you about the recoil. It's easier to keep your aim steady with the bow than the eg. The main thing that keeps me from using the bow for headhunting is the rate of fire, I find it's just a bit too slow for me without the RoF upgrade. Plus, TK can't catch bullets...

Amen. In most cases I prefer them out of action, but sometimes it's possible to use them (like in certain CTS rounds) as a proper reinforcement instead of hacking it and continuing to move around the map. There's few things as irritating as running wounded and getting killed by an unexpected turret as you turn a corner.

To hack or not to hack? It really depends.

Solo gametypes? Very rarely. You don't have much downtime in those gametypes.

Team-based gametypes? Certain turret placements are more important than others. They not only provide added damage but they also increase your map awareness. If you listen carefully, you can hear the sound of people hacking which can give away your enemy's position. You can also use turrets as some kind of alarm system, if you hear a friendly turret fire or even just make that warning sound before firing then you know where your enemies are coming from.

Imo, the greatest advantage that turrets give you on team-based gametypes is by being an extra set of ears and eyes - which in turn gives you map control.

As for hacking vending machines, that is just something that you do when going up against low rankers and/or when you have the downtime just to get some extra adam.

Deadly machine rocks! I think my favorite tonics are Fast Feet, Leg up, Head Hunter, Metabolic Eve and Deadly Machines. The book says that DM speeds up the turret by 25% :eek: But if you use DM you might have to use Repairman...and that eats up 2 slots. :(

If that would happen there would be a lot less players playing because of the intentional and non intentional suiciders. As for the other comment about the rez suicide, I had pressed the trigger button to fire to kill the enemy that was rezzing, I did not think I would hit the wall or floor whatever happened. I consider suiciding as a BD to be different than suiciding as a splicer. Splicers regain health, BD do not. I play CTS a lot (since I can have a lot of kills, more adam with sis caps, and the match lasts a long time) and so when I am the BD in that mode, I suicide if I am in low health. A BD that is in low health has no chance in defending a poor helpless little sister. The same principle applies in no matter what type of match it is. Some people might not like this but its a game. I don't like TK, insect swarm, getting ganged on by several players, grenade spam...But these tactics that others use, are effective and are able to be used in the game. I never send hatemail to people and rarely respond to any hatemail that I receive. I feel there is no point in messaging another player concerning their play style. I started posting on these forums b/c I enjoy this game. Everyone has their own play style and belief on how this game should be played. I believe others should not look down or berate others as some of you have. Of course, I know some here do not like me (as well as some of the people I play with) and one guy on here seems to not like headshotters/rez users.

Yep you're right. That game was a mess from the beginning. I could not figure out why my shots weren't counting but after I looked at my class and had forgotten to put headhunter in. I had taken it out for a private no stun match w/some friends just before that. Anyway I hope maybe we can have a rematch sometime soon maybe less messy though. ;)

I have to say, you play really, really slowly, makes me cringe at times! Haha, it's like you're at 20% health and you just kind of walk away, not facing where the damage is coming from and humming along kind of ignoring the guys shooting at you, also, at times you are standing nearly still! The sense of these videos is for the exact reason you mentioned; freedom of posting and recording whatever I like. In order to get from rank 1 to 40, one needs to have the inevitable task of going against beginners. I wish there was a way around that, John, but for now, there isn't. I don't avoid any matches, and when I finally get around to posting future videos, you'll see that I lose plenty of matches...like FOUR IN A ROW against higher ranked individuals. This is "Road to God Splicer" and the whole point of the series is to rank up, regardless of the obstacles and deaths and losses. In conclusion, I don't do anything on the Xbox to pad my stats. I simply don't play matches that are overly-laggy or have started in the middle.

@rybow I am enjoying the videos but prefer the non live commentary though, You are very good with the pistol I suck with it. I am however hoping to see more use of every weapon and experimental ways of ranking up because it doesn't so much feel like some one trying new things, more of a splicer merely trying to rank up fast so he can obtain his old trusty load out.

I’m wondering about a thing, does anyone else on here hear the steps of Houdini users and when they go in and out of being invisible? Cause if you never do that then you’ll probably not notice anything unusual in this video.

Anyways, I’m usually always able to hear the steps of Houdini users and when they go in or out of using Houdini, didn’t hear this person walking away (last clip) or anything though.

That leads me to believe they didn’t move, and if they didn’t move to get EVE somewhere else or hide outside my line of view (while not using up Houdini), and just stayed in the same corner while constantly using Houdini, they should from a full bar of EVE turn visible after about 7 seconds (with eve saver).

So.. thoughts? And remember I’m not accusing anyone of anything, just wondering if I missed something to make it seem a bit more likely to me.

Regarding the Mercury suites action, it might be plausible if he is carrying EVE saver and fast feet. Since it is the start of a match, he might have made it up to the EVE vial under the bear. However, why the other opponent that spawned on the balcony didnt react to him being under the bear, IDK...maybe something related to spawning lag.

Anyway, with fast feet, it takes five seconds to get from the bear to the chair in front of the vending machine where he first uncloaked. He then cloaked again briefly and appears to have been the last of his EVE when he comes out of it and the opponent who had been on the balcony attacked him.

As for getting away from you after the first battle...It looks like he used almost half of his EVE in the battle with the Barbara he killed, then cloaked and slipped behind you to head up to the bear. he certainly didnt get more EVE from the vending machine, you did that. Its the only plausible explanation and he could have slipped behind you, along the wall, you didnt have view of that.

You think he was playing fair? Not my opinion, but as I said I can’t prove anything without any doubts so I wont label him as anything from these clips.
I still think I would have heard his footsteps if he ran pass me, and when he came back from the bear statue wouldn’t he just attack me from behind? But yeah I guess your theory would be possible.

^^^ Well as it turns out i have seen that player before, some weeks ago, he was a 20, something and i couldnt kill him despite unloading 4 SG rounds and a full magazine of cap extended MG AND after that amount of lead, my deathtrap failed to kill him when he stood over my corpse taking a photo. I complained about the new GOD mode player in this forum and i was pooh-poohed being told it was lag. I warned folks he was sneaky and taking deaths. Never saw him fly or use infinite EVE though.

AND I agree your encounter is very suspicious and my earlier thoughts are just that, a theory and a conclusion...FWIW...it was free BTW, so that tells you how much its worth :)

yes, I've seen him too. After playing a match it was immediately noticeable he had infinite houdini and took major damage before he would die, but he would eventually die. After the match, we invited him to the party we were in and he joined. When we questioned him, he played stupid and didn't let on like anything was out of the ordinary. I call bs.

My previous statement about that I killed the Barbara was just an answer to when you said this, as the Houdini player didn’t kill anyone in my clips, even if the Barbara wouldn’t have rezz on IMO :)

Earlier today I played a Civil War game that worked out better then expected...I did horrible (especially at the beginning) we started out down one player, lost another playing 3 to 5 for a while. I switched my load out to Zap - Pow to try and even the odds but that didn't make a difference. But, help was on the way! You never know how a game will end up by how it starts...kind of like you can't judge a book by the cover.

Also, one of my many fails was a proxy throw that was supposed to go downstairs and when I tried to shoot I ended up hitting it...unintentional suicide.

This is an example of game play I should not be proud of but liked since is was fun! Rapture still has magic! Never quit when you are down!

The shotgun/MG loadout I mentioned in the loadout thread is definitely the one I switch too when there's an enemy BD. TK to toss those grenades back at him, and MG with firing upgrade to take him down. I'm lucky to be a 50/50 k/d player, but I usually do manage a BD kill or two in a team game.

And yes, rez is lame - especially in SotF. It doesn't really help the rez user since the only way he can survive resurrecting is by dying in a secluded area; and in SotF, you want to go where the action is to rack up kills, not away from it. So rez barely ever helps whoever's equipping it and it just screws up the whole dynamic of the match for everyone else. Lame tonic.

Well if you strategized correctly, if you're doing what Rybow did (EB/CB/EB) then you could try to wait for them to get a little damaged and do the simple headshot. If not scavenging kills, it's way better to EB/SG (Sawn Off), and with Researching makes this simpler and less cheap for headshots.

This video is a shining example of why res does not belong in a sotf game, On this map I once out of frustration specifically stole all res kills without earning any, and one of said ressers attempted to say i only won because I was a cheap thief! I merely informed him if he had not used this tonic along with the 8 other people my tactic would have been null and void. He continued to rage rather than evolve

Yes, but you don't want to be the first one in a popular killing zone - because you're just going to be the first one to get focus-fired by multiple opponents. Ideally, given the loadout that Rybow had, you want to play like a vulture, swoop in for kills and clean up.

I don't know why sometimes that appears and sometimes doesn't. Its also a benefit of the crossbow-sometimes you see an arrow walk by. I also noticed after that I got bee'd, and I spammed the hell out of the guy with eb...I feel it was justified, its about the only defense...any opinions on this?

Impressive headshotting by the way. Have watched this particular video several times trying to learn where to aim for a headshot kill. Was nice to have so many samples in one place. :) I noticed you tend to aim what would appear to be "high" to me. Is that a crossbow specific thing to account for drop? Or is that your norm for EG too?

yes, it is crossbow specific. I used to use the EG a lot and the transition to CB was hard because I always aimed low (at the head oddly enough). With the crossbow I aim between their name and their head...I use the name frequently to aim, especially on long shots. I understand this is true on the Playstation also?

Here is an excellent video showcasing the difference (haha couldn't help myself). I run into somebody, point blank shoot them in the face with crossbow (you can tell because my ammo goes down), immediately switch to elephant gun, reshoot at the same height and it is a headshot with eg and not cb.

Since he plays on the PC, I've watched alot of his stuff. Unfortunately, he's a Brit. Which means that our play sessions barely ever overlap each others and I never get to play with him. And when I do get to play with him, I have to contend with the general laginess that results from playing in a game with a European host.

I actually saw myself in one of his recent videos though. I was in one of my smurf accounts playing a melee-only loadout and he referred to me as the ninja in a couple of his videos. It was quite hilarious to watch. :p

Magic Arrows: Xbow Arrows get stuck on the corners of walls all the time and sometimes in random spots on maps....especially Arcadia.

Magincally teleporting: If a little sister is not picked up for a certain amount of time in CTS the sister will reset either above or below its current posotion.

Anyway, the Resurrection Slide is just another 'Box Spam' type of mechanic where a player can bypass the rules to do something out of the ordinary. By pressing 'A' to pick up the Little Sister whilst reviving, the player will be allowed to move sooner than normally allowed during a revive. The 'slide' effect is the Splicer moving whilst technically still going through the animation of reviving.

The capture team has to actually move the LS from her starting position and drop her somewhere on the way to the save vent. If there are multiple floors where she is dropped, she will move up or down one level. Other wise she will move laterally a few feet...sometimes to the inside of rooms, if dropped next to separating wall.

Think it takes 1-1.5 minutes for her to move, from when she is first dropped.

She will only move once, unless she is dropped again on the way to the vent and enuf time elapses before end of round.

Watching those HS kills starting at 2:15 for about the next 30 seconds, your cursor didn't look like it was anywhere near the opponents head when the kill happened. And you were fairly close up on all of them. Did you just fire and start moving on before getting the kill notification or something?

Watching those HS kills starting at 2:15 for about the next 30 seconds, your cursor didn't look like it was anywhere near the opponents head when the kill happened. And you were fairly close up on all of them. Did you just fire and start moving on before getting the kill notification or something?

Nah as big brother said a little bit of lag, but mostly what you saw was the illusion of Wilkins. It appears as though you have to aim well off of his head to hit him. At least to me, even though I believe the hit box is the same.

I have got a few new videos but will start with this one. The Adam Addicts in action in a tight 3v3 clan match against a very good team. Myself, Frank Fotaine and Gunner947 vs. SoberSpartan117, chrisl bros, and inner ace g. As you can probably guess I don't play a lot of team games so there are many times where I look like a beheaded chicken wandering around. But it was a lot of fun and they are definitely great competitors
