Is there going to be the Persian Empire in Civilization V?

There's a list floating around the forums somewhere of the confirmed civilizations. Don't quote me, but I believe it's pretty much a toss up between Persia and Spain. As in, neither are confirmed, but there's only one slot left.

See the list here. (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=355156)

So yeah, Timferius is right.

Dear Admin,

I greatly insist for there to be the Persian Empire in the game, you've got Hanging Gardens as one of the wonders but you haven't got the Persian Empire confirmed yet?!?!

That's the whole reason I play the game, because of the Persian Empire!

Many Thanks,
Persian Man

It was on the list. It was the second one on the list:

America/Washington
Persia/Cyrus
Germany/Bismark
Aztec/Montezuma
Inca/Unknown
Japan/Oda Nobunaga
China/Wu Zeitein
Arabia/Harun al-Rashid
Mongolia/Genghis Khan
Rome/Caeser
France/Napolean
India/Gandhi
England/Elizabeth
Songhai/Askia
Russia/Catherine
Ottomans/Suleiman
Egypt/Ramesses
Greece/Alexander

EDIT: Uh oh, looks like there are a few "official lists" floating around here.

Just so you know, I went and posted a list like that to grab the admins attention. I put Persia/Cyrus exactly under America!

I hope the thread you copied that from wasn't from Revolution Child?

The list at Civ fanatics.com has everything parsed out to interviews where each civ was confirmed.

Persia is not on that list.

With 1 spot left, it is Persia, Spain, or the Vikings.

I dare you to find a more comprehensive and fact driven list than that. :)

Viking's not really a big issue because they can add that through future expansions, Spain is a great empire but I really think they might aswell have 20 Empires so all them 3 especially Persia would be in the game.

I agree. Maybe even 21 to add Portugal.

If they did 21, I think we would be pretty well covered until the expansion.

Yes definitely, end of the day it's a game and I think if these guys wanna make more money then should bring out younger civilizations into the expansions, say America! It does seem a little silly having American Civilization starting at 4000BC with warrior units! LOL. No offence I think America's a great country, just saying everything should relate to it's date. Imagine Washington DC 3000 BC with little archers.

Oh neat, we're just making up lists now. :D

Here's mine:
America/Washington
The Duck Civilization/Donald (or maybe Scrooge)
Germany/Bismark
Aztec/Montezuma
Inca/Unknown
Japan/Oda Nobunaga
China/Wu Zeitein
Arabia/Harun al-Rashid
Mongolia/Genghis Khan
Rome/Caeser
France/Napolean
India/Gandhi
England/Elizabeth
Songhai/Askia
Russia/Catherine
Ottomans/Suleiman
Egypt/Ramesses
Greece/Alexander

Now, off I go to create a dozen threads about The Duck Civilization. This forum really needs more threads like that. :p

All I can say is Sid Meier has lost a plot if he leaves Persia out.

lol. That's how we say it in England.

Firstly, I like to apologize to every body if I insulted them. Truly!

I don't know all the history of the world, neither Iran's (Persia's), but I do know that we are one of the oldest civilizations in this world, I know that we invented cities, which we call "Shahr" which the word is involved in some of England's town and cities itself (E.G. York Shire). I know that we invented the carpet, lol, and I know that the founder of The Persian Empire (Cyrus) was also the founder of the first human rights chapter. Being fair every civilization or country has invented something since the dawn of man.

But at the end of the day I don't mean to insult anyone's country or culture, and I have respect but I personally believe that a game as established as Civilization should involve Persia because of our history. The great battles between the Greeks and Romans, the invasion of Arabs and Mongols, They should also add the religion "Zoroastrianism" which was the state religion before Islam. I've seen how great they have progressed since the first Civ, it looks almost real; so why not add a few other features too?
