I could actually see them working on an MMOFPS/RPG for Bioshock 3.

And I believe it would be successful.

Just look at Warcraft, Blizzard made several Warcraft games before making WoW, allowing players to gather and learn the lore.

With Bioshock mmo it would be set before the civil war/during the civil war.

well, if anything, the Metroid series has, without a doubt, shown us that a series can actually do quite well spread over a number of genres.

(side-note: the Metroid series is expanding to yet another genre later this year with the release of "Metroid: Other M")
