It was explained in the 1st one and that's how you were able to use them.
What about now?

Eleanor takes control of a Little Sister and puts your DNA in.

if it's that easy, couldn't any lowlife go in there and put their DNA in those things?

(Major spoilers>>>)10 years after Sofia Lamb killed you, Eleanor controlled one of the Little Sisters to find your remains and rig the Vita chambers to work with your DNA to respawn you (bringing you back from the dead after 10 years). They explain this during that level where you control a Little Sister and go around collecting peices of Big Sister armor for Eleanor.

Hmm, I guess if Elanors mind and body is being perfected, I think she'd know how to work alot of different machines, she could then just instruct a Little Sister to do it, but how she got a piece of Deltas DNA I aint sure.

Yes although Eleanor could have gained access to Gil or even Sinclair who could have helped her with how exactly to do it.

Completely correct. Alexander and Eleanor were really close to each other, and Alexander helped construct the Vita-Chamber. Chances are Eleanor picked up details on how to tinker with it from him.

Yeah but still, that explanation is very sketch...
Once again I enjoyed the game, but some of it falls short of amazement. If only they had more time to think of better reasoning.
Damn TakeTwo's fiscal year....

And with this ability to hack the machines, we now have so much potential right?
why dont we bring Ryan back, or Fontaine. Better yet, lets bring all of bioshock 1 characters back and have a ball.

No, because the reason Eleanor knew how is because she was absorbing memories thru ADAM (and gaining knowlege and skills that most Splicers don't have), because of this, she finds out all the details on how the Vita chambers work, and why she know how to rig it up in such a way.

I get it I get it.
It just falls short of shockability.
It's basically like reading the bible and saying," oh well how did god create the whole world in five days?"
with the answer,"because he can"

Isn't that the answer we're given? :P

Presumably this was a complex process and it took Eleanor a lot of time to make it work. Also, she may have had help from Tenenbaum and Sinclair.

I maintain that the process of resurrecting Delta wasn't a "wake up in the night, wanting daddy, go to the fridge and bring him back to life" but something that took several months of planning.

In one of her diaries, she moreorless says that they found Delta's body, and took a gene sample from it, which they then put into the doll to carry it around. Eleanor says in the diary it's "only a matter of time" until they rig the Vita-Chamber to seek out his DNA.

For all you can say about insufficient explanations, I think thar be midichlorians in these waters, and a little ambiguity is fine. Eleanor is a sharp, sharp kid, and she had connections. More than enough to make the Vita-Chambers work as she intended.

As for why we don't now use these chambers to bring EVERYONE back, keep in mind that lots of Rapture's denizens are still horribly spliced and insane. Many of them are barely aware of these chambers, fewer still know their function, and even fewer have the cognitive faculties to fiddle with such technology.

If you look at it from afar I guess it is an interesting subject.
Like I said in a different post, I'm starting my second play around now, to maybe find depth in this game.
Where is this audio diary located?

one thing that can't be fixed is some of the dry generic dialog though.
and corny cutscenes.

The diary I am referring to can be found in Sofia Lamb's office, I believe, while you're the Little Sister in Outer Persephone.

I don't agree that the dialogue is dry or generic. But since you missed some of Eleanor's diaries I suppose that explains why - she's really a fascinating character IMO.

Yeah Yeah, the more I find audio diaries, the more I began to appreciate it more and more.
But the cutscenes are really the ones that have me griped.
I feel like im being forcefed the story more often, unlike in the first one.
Where you were given the option to explore the characters on your own.
the cutscenes for Stanley made me cringe of awkwardness.

I can see that. Hm. Yes. I didn't think about it at the time but you have a point. Nevertheless, it personally didn't bother me.

the audio diaries make up for it though.
the fontaine ones are pretty intruging.
i love how they managed to use all the same voice actors.

'As explained in Dr. Suchong's Audio Diary, the Vita-Chambers were still undergoing trials when Rapture fell. During these trials, Andrew Ryan was the sole subject to whom they were attuned.'

And!

'After the fatal confrontation between Jack and Andrew Ryan at Rapture Central Control, Ryan doesn't revive because he had intentionally shut off the Vita-Chamber in his office.'

You do have the option of turnin' it back on though by yourself.
