Hey Guys this is My first post on the 2K Forums and would just like to say Hi before Explaining :)

Recently I bought Bioshock (Original) and Installed it on my PC. No problems or errors popped up during install so that all went fine. I started the game and started playing, Got past the First Bit and am now Stuck at the "Wrench" Part because of Constent Crashes :(. When I go and Pick up the Wrench or Sometimes Even before that it crashes :(

I Really want to play this game as I want to play Bioshock 2 but Unfortunatley Not played Bioshock.

Please Help :(

BTW My Specs are:

Nvidia 8600GT - 256MB
AMD Athlon 64 x2 5600+
Windows 7 Ultimate X86
(My PC Is more than Capable to run this Game)

I Have tried the DirectX 9 Mode but It Still Crashes :(

If you have the steam version, verify integrity of game cache solves most problems. If not, some files might be missing from your install thus it won't load some meshes, objects, strips of code and whatnot. If you have installed the v1.1 patch, be sure that it matches your retail version (censored/non-censored, US/EUROPE etc.).

Your specs should be OK. I'm guessing this has something to do with the securom update since I haven't had any problems playing or installing this game before that and now my game bugs too. I tried installing the game stopping the automatic update but it didn't go well.. It'll surely take time before they'll fix issues with bioshock cuz Bioshock 2 has some bad bugs and they're trying to fix them as soon as possible due the recent release. It's kinda worse right now if no one can play Bioshock 2 than not being able to play the predecessor.

EDIT: Check the last post here for it might work for your problem as well.

I also had the crashing problem but I downloaded the latest drivers from nVidia and everything worked and I can even play in DX10 :D
