Alright, after an exhausting bus ride home, and packing my stuff into my dorm room, I'm ready to write a summary. My day started off at 6:30 getting ready for my megabus to pick me up in cleveland at 8:15. After arriving at the bus stop early me and my friend chilled in tower city mall for some time until we were picked up and whisked off to Chicago. We got into the city at about 1:45, and walked around for some time. I still needed to buy some gauss tape for my costume so I stopped in a walgreens to pick up some supplies. Soon after we stopped for pizza at Lou Manlti's to kill some time. After Enjoying my first Chicago pizza (NY style is still better, sorry:D ) we took a taxi over to Navy Pier. After arriving 2 hours early, we had a ton of time to kill, so we decided to walk around. The inside was nice, but upstairs they had an inside garden which looked surprisingly a lot like Arcadia.

After mindlessly walking around it was finally time to put on my splicer costume I had worked on the night before. It took me about half and hour to do because I had some make-up work to do.... So by the time I got out I was greeted to some other splicers. I was really relieved to see other people had dressed up just so I didnt half to attract all of the looks inside of the pier. It was really awesome to meet everyone else that had gone, I can truly say I made myself a good bunch of friends that night. Anyways, we all sat and got to know each other for a while when out of no-where some man walk up to us. He just kind of casually said, "So what is this all about?" we explained to him that we "were a bunch of crazy denizens of an underwater community", as put by my friend the welder. He said he wasnt into video games, but he had something for us we might like. Thats when Delta and the little sister came out to greet us. Now I had seen the delta costume in online pictures, but to see it in real life is something completely different.

The suit was completely made from scratch, as the man (Mike) explained to us. It was so intricate with the plasmid tubes going through the suit, the actual rotating drill, and the body work. It really was a work of art. We all took pictures for an hour, talked more to Mike, and had an awesome time. Thats when they handed out invites to the cocktail hour, which I happily went to. We exited the front of the pier where an escort service was ready to take us over to the bar. As we all sat in the van, which was very nice actually, I stared at the over-head T.V to see if some message was going to be given to us. We all joked about it. We arrived at the bar not to long after, sat down and had some great conversations with mike and had an over-all awesome time. There was a costume contest not too long into it where to splicers won some masks. A bunny mask and butterfly mask was handed out to the winners. (I had brought my mask from SITS so I participated, but not expecting to win anyways).

I really have to say that Elizabeth has really gone heads over heels for this whole thing. I have not seen a company so dedicated to their fans that they actually pay for food and drink at an after-party. The real star of the night was mike of course, he told us awesome stories, gave us background info on planning these things and putting together all the swag. Just such an interesting guy, I have to give a lot of credit to him. Then meeting everyone was such a blast, I met the best people that night, so congrats to everyone. I had bought a throw away camera that day so it may take me a bit to develope the pictures and scan them in, so look for those soon. Once again thanks to everyone! Now I have to get back and catch up with SITS!!!!

Here's my summary:

My Dad and I left at about 4:00 PM and parked in his reserved parking spot in a lot nearby Navy Pier. From there we took a cab to Navy Pier (Don't ask why). I hadn't seen the 'Moving Event Inside' post on the Cult of Rapture website. So I was standing out in the cold waiting for a Splicers of some sort to show up. So I gave up and started to head back towards Navy Pier. I walked in to maybe buy a sovenier to make it partially worth-while when I spotted in the distance s couple of Splicers. I eagerly greeted them, they didn't seem interested so I sat on the stage, waiting for 2K. Then Mike comes out (But I thought he was just an average guy wondering what was going on). He asked the Splicers what they were doing and they replied. Then Delta and the LS walk out and everyone stares at them, some cheering. They started taking pictures and then I got a little annoyed. I saw some teenager walking around with a 'Splicers Unite!' Bag-like thing thinking he was a Bioshock fan. I eagerly shout, "Hello, fellow Rapturian!" and he gives me this weird look that I could tell was, "WTF are you talking about?" so we had some fun, and I got a Jester Splicer Mask for being a 'funny guy'.

The afterparty was long and everyone knew what I was talking about. It's been a long time since i've had this much fun

i left home with my freinds and my mom at about 5:15 (we were well aware the event started at 6:00) we were angry on the bus.... then after about 45 min, we got to navy peir and i swore outloud then ran to the pav stage, i saw big D and lil Sis walking away and said "WAITTT!!!" some freindly nearby splicer took my ppic with them, then big d drank root beer LOL. after i met mike and after about 5 min of talking he realized i was stupid question guy. we got invites to go to the after party. we waited by the lobby, and little boy mentioned "turdsandwich" from the forums, and everyone laffed, then the shuttle came and we didnt fit... so we said "well wait for the next bathyspher, thank you..." then i waved at the departing splicers.... then while waiting for the next one we saw lil sis wrapped in a blanket making a getaway..then the shuttle came we went to the after party, (my freinds made the joke 'is this the modern warfare 2 convenion??') then i talked to mike somore and the forum dudes and i saw the "red bull plasmids" leaflets...then i went home and my mask broke and then i fixed it and then i went to sleep and i woke up and then i wrote this........(srry if this is long):(

man that was a blast. After getting home last night and realizing that one of my buddies had my original copy, I tracked down an open walmart and got it for PS3. Gotta say though, still prefer the 360 version.

And I'm glad somebody got/responded to my whole "would you kindly" thing.

Lastly though, while trying to manage work I'm also trying to attempt to start reading Atlas Shrugged. Anybody else read it? I'm really interested in it but am trying to figure out how I'm going to manage reading a 1400 page book.

I have read Atlas Shrugged and it is honestly one of the best books that I have ever read. If you want something less daunting you can start with The Fountainhead... it is about half as long but probably had about as much influence as Atlas Shrugged.

The book itself is an easy read, it starts slowly but it really picks up. If you are anything like me I couldn't stop reading it and had it finished within the week that I started... we should make a new thread about this perhaps.:D

Yeah, I read it through most of last year xD I got it at the beginning of March, and finished reading it sometime in August. It was a great read, the only negative things I have to say about it is that there are some dry portions to the story where I took a few weeks of break from reading it, just because I was bored with it.

If you're not personally invested in the philosophy and find it fascinating though, it's going to be absolute hell getting through it though. xD

----

Edit: The length of time it took me to raed won't affect you <.< I have massive ADD and am forced to read the same page a good three to five times until I have all the details down.

Yeah, I was extremely jealous of you guys with masks. Like I said before, I had almost a perfect Cohen setup but it was extremely thin. Ironically I didn't dress up because I wanted to wear as many layers as possible so I could stay warm and avoid getting sick. I dunno if it's because of my job or whatever but I'm getting pneumonia anyway. Maybe I should have just gotten some orange scrubs and go as Steinman or something.

And thanks Bryan/however you spell your name/guy from Ohio. I'll have to start reading those books soon. And I know this is totally unoriginal but I think next check I'm gonna be getting those chain tattoos. Both my others kind of are political/philosophical pieces so that'd kind of fit the whole "Ryan's tattoo theme."

I didn't like Anthem as much as Fountainhead, but that is personal preference. I do believe that Fountainhead was the first novel to really express the pillars of her philosophy though. i know that Anthem was published in 1938 and Fountainhead was in the early 40's... 1942 or '43 I want to say... but the real breadth of Objectivism isn't laid out in Anthem... without ruining the plot it is hard to go into it....

Oh and I liked the paper mache mask... I liked all of the costumes!

To quote Promo Mike, "This is the last event in the country." He also said that somebody had been saying that after Boston's but obviously Chicago's happened. I don't think that after following Elizabeth for about a year, she would lie to us and post something that's untrue on cult of rapture.

I was the one that took your picture! :D It is so funny reading play by plays and being able to say, "Oh, that was me!" or "I saw that too!"

The root beer is Dad's Root beer and it's packaging said that it was "Big Daddy Size" so we couldn't resist having him take a swig. ^_^

Okay I went ahead and made a new thread for Ayn Rand (http://forums.2kgames.com/forums/showthread.php?p=585194#post585194)... seemed the best thing to do. ^_^

I was the one who said that because another organizer (David) said the exact same thing at the Boston event.

Atlas Shrugged will always be the iconic pillar of Rand's writing, but The Fountainhead and Anthem will both prove to be good reads. If you enjoyed 1984/Brave New World, you'll enjoy Anthem.

Anyways it sounds and looks like you guys had a blast! My question is about the cocktails - Were they Rapture-themed? ADAM Stingers with EVE Chasers anybody?

Lol, you have the right to your opinion, but I'm sticking with the NYC Little Sister! She never broke character and she was the original.

In all honestly, all the sisters have done great jobs, looking forward to more from beloved 2K (or Irrational, for some of you long-timers out there)!

Nope these were promotional events and are over. But you can check out the pictures on the first page. It was also held in multiple locations such as NYC and Boston.
