I'm sure there's plenty of you forum fanatics that got the game near realease date but I'm equally sure there are a bunch of posters out there that recieved the wonderful xmass gift of civ rev. I was one of these people and I would really like to wish a happy one year anniversary of civ rev addiction.
Last year to the day I was gifted with civ rev and fabel 2... i have only played 3 games since then and 95% of my play time has been devoted to this glitched out yet strangely addictive T.B.S. So here's a shout out to all the gamers who where a newb a year ago. If you can pick a civ, you can get them to the top ten!!!!

I got mine on Winter Solstice. After having loved Resident Evil 4 a couple of years ago, I went through about 15 games in no more than 10 hours b/c I thought they were all so lame and boring. I took a chance with Civ Rev thinking it too would disappoint, but it did not. And just when I was about to lose interest late last Spring, the forum got me even more interested in the game. In fact, I didn't really start playing hard-core until last summer when I started hitting the boards with you guys and playing MP.
Anyway, Happy Solstice!!

happy civ anniversary!
I've been playing since about the release, I know I got the game in either late july or at least early august of 08. but I didn't start playing until november on mp.
jumped to xbox around christmas time last year. till then, my xbox had been collecting dust since I had got it for xmas the year before and I played mostly on my ps3. But, once I jumped to xbox, my ps3 pretty much is a bluray player only....
I stopped fooling myself about buying new games. I have bought or received several games, but this one is all I end up playing.
I remember last year there was a large influx of players around christmas time. I doubt there will be a noticeable one this year, but who knows? I've already talked to a few on other forums that just got the game....

I bought my SO a PS3 for Xmas and then gamestop had that buy 2 get 1 free (used games) this weekend. So we went to see if we could find him MetalGear and Resident Evil and I picked up Civ Rev for the free game. I used play SimCity/The Sims and have always ignored the Civ games. Big mistake, I am HOOKED!! OMG, I love this game!

Glad you found it and liked it... It's definitely addictive!
And I bet there are plenty of more people out there who would love it if they knew about it. I myself just sort of stumbled across it...
Have fun!

mainly it was Cleopatra's clevage though, right? Let's be honest. Why else would a teenage boy pick up a game like this? Unless that kid had some kind of strange facination with 19th centuary French tyrants.... then you might want to talk about that with a mental health professional. ;)

Similar experience for me. I bought the game new when it came out (within a couple of weeks or so). I played SP for 5 months before starting GOTW. I did that for 3-4 months before starting MP. It's amazing how much you improve from when you first start playing. I remember when it used to take me 12 hours to beat Deity by 1950 AD. Now I'm upset if it's not in the BCs!
I really, really hope a CivRev 2 comes out. We actually saw some gamertag on XBL that something was planned for end-of-year 2010 but I could not find any positive confirmation so at this point, it's just wishful thinking.

LOL! Now that's the raw truth! :)
BTW, all the female leaders appear to have been extraordinarily "blessed" except Isabella... a good attribute in leaders... especially female ones... ;)
