I will almost certainly play the demo. For I am weak willed and would not be able to last the whole 1 month and 9 days. Besides demos never really reveal too much anyway. As long as the demo did not reveal any juicy bits of the storyline from the full game I would be happy.

Jesus Christ. Everything is NOT a "spoiler". People are starting to take this too far. A demo is not a "spoiler". What is it "spoiling" exactly?

A "spolier" is something that ruins the experience by forcing a person to sit through a movie, video game, book, etc. for hours even though crucial or pivotal story elements/climaxes have already been revealed. What "demo" does this? Does the Bioshock 1 demo do this? Of course not.

Of course I'd play the demo. Why wait a month for something that I will overcome in the first ten minutes after I get the actual game?

I could very easily wait til the 9th of feb, I received enough books and games for christmas to keep me occupied long after b2's release.
but I honestly would love a demo much like the 9 minute walkthrough that was revealed a few months ago, people that are worried about having key plot points spoiled for them are taking things far to seriously. I'm the guy who's going to play 30 minutes of b2 a day to make it last as long as possible but you don't see me worrying about spoilers because I trust 2k to make the best game I've played since a little project called bioshock 1. a game that is still my go-to game over all others even though I've heard every audio diary and explored every nook and cranny. if bioshock 2 is half the game that its predecessor was you could know how the game ends and still be lost for words after playing it. chill the shiz out:rolleyes:

The way I see it, with all the other game franchises, if the first game has a demo, the rest will typically have one as well. The first game's demo came out August 12, 2007 and the game came out August 27, 2007. If the past is any indication, BS2's demo will come out roughly 10 days before it's release date, but that's just an educated guess.

Ah, well done. That's a good point though. Games where the first game in the series has a demo, typically offer a demo for the second game too. I didn't think about that but now that you bring it up, it definitely tends to be true.

If Bioshock 2 follows the trend of having the demo come out about two weeks before Bioshock 1, then we should expect it on the marketplace update of January 22nd. However, if we were to study another recent game from 2k, Civilization Revolution, the demo came out on June 5th 2008 according to Wiki, and the game came out July 8th. That is over a month difference. But yet another recent 2k game was Borderlands, and it had no demo at all.

So at the end of the day, if there is a demo, which I still believe is likely, it can basically come anytime. I really like the idea of having it come out on New Year's Day, but I would have expected more than one single person to heard about that. So, in short, we don't really know anything. I suppose there is an excessive amount of analysis in this post to just end up where we started. :cool:

Uh, I have no clue what that has to do with the demo XD BS2 starts in 1969, not 1959. The Civil War is the centerpoint of MP, which I doubt they'd showcase a demo of.

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but wasn't the first splicer attack on New years 1959? Which in turn started the civil war.....It still has to do with BS2 single player as much as muliplayer even if those events have to do with the first one it still relates to Rapture.

Also, what if they ended up releasing a Multiplayer demo instead? Sort of like what Call of duty World at war did? Not saying they would just saying that would suck..

i dont know the demo isn supose to convince the player into buying the game? i alway thought bioshock was a more climatic kind of game than most fts ( james bond ) but it thruth that a multiplayer demo wont actuly water down the solo campaign experience. there a lot of por a lot of con but why nobody put a poll about that yet?

Seeing as I played the demo for the first one, I'm definitely getting the demo for the second.

But it might color my opinion, though -- in the first demo, the Incinerate plasmid was found at roughly the same place as the Electro Bolt plasmid. So when I got the actual game, I spent a good while looking for the Incinerate plasmid, which wasn't where I expected it to be.

Hopefully I won't be quite so stupid, or 2k won't pander to my interests and tease me with fire hands only to snatch them away so cruelly. D:

2. If there was a demo forthcoming, it seems very surprising that there has been no publicity for it whatsoever. Normally there is a bit of press leading up to a big demo like this.
3. If we apply the historical record of Bioshock 1, it's demo only came out approximately two weeks before the game.

So I wouldn't exactly wager money on the demo coming out today but I wouldn't say it's unthinkable either.

We can all hope. The fact that there have been no updates on both SitS and Cor for ove a week might show that there will be something big sometime soon (whether it be online or on the marketplace. Keep in mind the marketplace is usually updated around this time (12:30 where I am), so it's still possible, although not EXTREMELY likely.

the demo could be delta stuck in tiny little room with no way out, no weapons, plasmids, nothing but a puddle on the floor to look at your own reflection with and I'd still play the hell out of it..

Yea, a lot of people wouldn't play the demo for the same reasons as yours, but if you think about, nothing big would be released in the demo. Just the basic premise of the plot and some gameplay. If a demo came out, I'd play it. Of course I would have someone else play it and make sure it didn't have ANY spoilers in it whatsoever, but I'd play it. :)
