I downloaded your demo. I then couldn't run the program it kept crashing on me. You had a folder called something like AMD Dual mode. I was told that many people were told to run that. I ran that and it crashed. It froze. I have been on the phone with Dell for now over 2 hours and there is nothing they can do. NOTHING. my computer turns on and freezes. I cannot hit any keys or use the mouse not in safe mode. NOTHING. This is the worst possible nightmare I have ever had. I will never ever play any game again from this company.
All of my data is gone. Everything. you can LOL if you want, but I am in serious trouble.
Thx

My computer is hosed. How do i know my specs? I cannot boot to find out anything. I don't have a dual core, I do not think. Any suggestions on how to repair it. Dell special tech was on the phone with me for over 2 hours and there is nothing I can do. That process of updating that dual core driver crashed and they say it caused my OS to get corrupted. They can no longer help me. They said I am completely screwed.

Why do people buy AMD if they plan on gaming isn't AMD known to carp out on some games.
Of course it could just be you do not have updated drivers and you got screwed and or it has nothing todo with the game and you got somevirus or other computer problem

So just format and reinstall your OS. Sucks bro sorry to hear that. Next time run the game without doing that. There's no restore cd with dell? You should of bought it at best buy with the product server plan. We would of gave you a new computer :D.

Well, if you didn't have a dual core, then chances are trying to use the dual core timing fix FUBARed something up damn fine. What that did, I'm pretty sure, is forced certain clock speeds on your CPU, and if it wasn't an AMD Dual Core, catastrophe ensued.
Not to sound condescending or anything, but before you ever mess with drivers or firmware updates, make sure you've got the right stuff. I can't imagine that a driver or firmware update would install when the program never detected the firmware it was supposed to be updating in the first place.

In defense of the poster, the patch should check if its required or not.
If its not, it should abort and not install anything.
Thats simply good programming practice.

its not a firmware. it possibly messed with the microcode somehow, thats how the optmizer works.
you should know your puters specs before u start just clicking on random things anyway man.
and dont buy a dell?? hello.

You should not have installed the AMD dual core fix if you do not have an AMD dual core processor

Your getting a Dell Dude! <- remember the commercials? lol
Nobody messed your comp up, you did, by not knowing what the hell your doing. And not knowing what specs youve got to work with. Coming on here and pointing fingers, just makes it that much worse to.
number one tip - Do Not Buy Pre-Built crap - Dell, Gateway, Compaq = ☺☺☺☺

If you don't know whether you have a dual core...why would you run the dual core timing fix? That's what that folder said....

Yeah -you'd have to be incredibly stupid to:
a. Not know your spec if you are hardcore enough to wait up and d/l a game demo on the night of release
b. Hose your PC by installing something that is not meant for your CPU without at least checking the readme (if not sure)
You should only install this driver if you are confident that it is appropriate for your system (i.e. you have an AMD dual core processor).
c. Then ring up support@ dell rather than troubleshooting it past POST first and seeing if recovery discs could sort it
However - I do agree that if true, it is slightly irresponsible to package an .exe that could cause this problem on someones system because 90% of folks just don't read the warnings/readmes. The exe should also check what it's doing which is stupid if it doesn't.
Also the problem may be a combination of things that could be wrong and this was the 'last straw' it's very hard to know without knowing the system and having hands on.
Get your bios checked, get a new hardrive put in and get your data recovered from a data firm and don't click on dangerous files in future.

Ah yes, its not always a good idea to randomly install drivers regardless of whether you have the things the driver is intended for. if you put you put a sort taco shell in your dvd driver would you expect it to play mexican music??? No it would crap your dvd drive out.
Also note that this driver isnt supplied by Irrational, its AMD's driver.
But yeah, it was probably smarter to throw your computer against the wall and trash it. Thats so much better than fixing the problem.

Your best bet to fix this problem is to buy more 2K games.
