Does anyone else think its kinda funny that the Zulu and Aztecs are high ranked civs by most......... and they are non-existant in the modern world whereas the french/russia "weaker civs" are pretty involved in world politics?
How are some of the bonuses made up? i mean +1 warrior movement?????
were zulu men super heroes or something???? also rush units at half cost?
Here this two are more logic based.....
How do u rush settlers???
and switch prod. frum a wonder to archers?????
Why does literacy give you the ability to build courthouses instead of code of laws???
Heres a tip that i found out. If u check what technologies to research and it tells u the description ie BW is for fish/archers/barracks/collussus. well if egypt is in the game, thn the wunder wont appear and ull noe from turn 1. actully thts not really helpful.......
Edit: i promised HGB i would put this as my sig.
HGB is gone!!!!

it is a coincidence that those civs are the best in this game.
the +1 warrior movement is due to the zulu people's campaign (i think in the early years of the 20th century) which let them take over a huge bunch of other south-african people. the impi warriors were known for their speed and their ability to take enemies by surprise (overrun bonus). the rapid city growth is also related to real history as the zulu cities grew abnormally fastly. i've forgotten the reason for this though. the zulu clan still exists, by the way.
well how do you "build" settlers? that isn't logical either.
you can chance the production from one thing to another bacause anything else would be harmful to the game. it doesn't have to make sense. don't you like to play bioshock or the like?
you can build courthourses after researching literacy because the programmers intended it to be like that. for whatever reason. they probably thought it would be natural for the players to build a bunch of buildings in every city so it might be that they considered a trading post to be too powerful in the early game or that courthouses were so necessary that they should be added very early. they had reasons.
i don't get your tip.
good to see that you found back to the forum hgb ;)

as far as rush units at half cost i would say it relates to the american effort in ww2. factories retooled and war machines were built at an astounding rate for the time. it would pale in comparison to what china could do today with modern factories, millions of skilled laborers, and trillions of dollars.

Well the +1 warrior movement makes sense from a historical standpoint. To my Knowledge Shaka was responsible for developing a tactic known as the horns of the bull or some such thing. His men would attack from the front but would also flank around like the horns, so his men would be attacking his enemy not only in front but from behind. This tactic continued to be used even when against the British troops, by the new Zulu king, Cetshwayo.
The Battle of Isandlwana on 22 January 1879 also demonstrated the Zulu's impi's movement over more advanced British riflemen. The Zulu impis covered 50 miles in 5 days whilst the British covered only 10 in days. You must take into an account that the Zulu force was also much larger, something like 20,000 men compared to the British force of under 5000, though only 1000 were properly trained regular British riflemen. The Zulu won the battle of Isandlwana. They defeated the force of 1000 British riflemen armed with modern breach loading Martini Henry Rifles and also some cannon. What mainly caused the british defeat was gunpowder blocking rifle barrels and of course running out of ammunition.
This loss shocked Britain, they weren't used to losing battles. They didn't lose to that runt Napolean so they weren't best pleased to lose a battle to what they considered to be a mass of black savages armed with only stabbing spears, clubs, old muskets and cowhide shields.
However the British regained some dignity when as the battle of Isandlwana was coming to a close. Cetshwayo sent forward 4500 Zulu impis to cut off any British escape. These troops were led by the king's younger brother who wanted to share in the success of the previous battle by winning one of his own and so they attacked the British base at Rorke's Drift crossing on the Tugela river. The British in this case claimed victory by managing to repel a force of 4500 impis with only 139 men.
Now, the next time you play civ and you are at the stage where you have tanks and the Zulu player only has impi warriors defending his cities. Don't be so harsh as to think he is a noob. I would prefer to think he is a person who only wants to try and rein act real historical events. SO I beg of you not to attack him with tanks. Use riflemen as this is more historically accurate and will no doubt, make his day.

Well, obviously Civ is a "what if?" game, not a historical simulation. There were some very lovely cultures in the Americas and Africa until Europeans came along and destroyed them. Who knows what they would've amounted to if their development hadn't been cut short?

Rushing settlers like this:
"Oh my, look at the time. I didn't realize it was that late. Time for you to go!"
Switching from a wonder to archers means your archers are actually firing little bits of what would've been Stonehenge.
Most civs (except the Chinese) get Code of Laws before Literacy. Now how are you going to have a courthouse when nobody can read?
"This parchment grants me title to these lands!"
"How do you know that?"
"Um...."

I know it exists but i was just wondering about how funny it is. Imagine if the real world was this game, like a zulu domination. And they are not influences in todays world as Africa is in my steorotype mind tht "continent" where everybody is poor and starving. sorry bout tht :(
well how do you "build" settlers? that isn't logical either.
you can chance the production from one thing to another bacause anything else would be harmful to the game. it doesn't have to make sense. don't you like to play bioshock or the like? Well, to "build" per say is merely tellin a group of citizens to pack up their things and get ready to start a colony, if you will. I dont get how to "rush" them.
you can build courthourses after researching literacy because the programmers intended it to be like that. for whatever reason. they probably thought it would be natural for the players to build a bunch of buildings in every city so it might be that they considered a trading post to be too powerful in the early game or that courthouses were so necessary that they should be added very early. they had reasons. Yeah i know. im just saying like if you have COD doesnt that mean you should have buildings to administer those "laws".
i don't get your tip. Okay, on turn 1 get to the screen that will let you pick a technology and you will see it gives you a description of what buildings/units/wunders a certain tech will give. If Egypt is in the game, collusus will be missing from BW, HG from pottery, etc. So you know what wunder they have and can adjust acoordingly. Anyways, this has been from my experince. (which is not that much lol)
good to see that you found back to the forum hgb ;)
I AM NOT HGB! but im honored you think that (:
as far as rush units at half cost i would say it relates to the american effort in ww2. factories retooled and war machines were built at an astounding rate for the time. it would pale in comparison to what china could do today with modern factories, millions of skilled laborers, and trillions of dollars. Well if that is where the bonus came from wouldnt it make more sense in industrial/modern. I know the game is not always historically correct as I think the Aztecs should not have a indusrtial/modern bonus and the Americans with no anicinet/starting/medival as both did not exist during thos times.. But who would play tht??????

The British in this case claimed victory by managing to repel a force of 4500 impis with only 139 men. Okay i know the game isnt so hot with history, so in the game i prospose that zulus cannot research anythin tht would outdate their "super impis" until they reach modern (:

OKay but shouldnt you be able to build a building to adminster your "code of laws"? I mean the game allows tech jumping so you can have units that can do things without having techs to do them. This is just my favorite one to piont out. (:
This is actually something I didn't know. Well done.
THANK YOU!!!!!! I HOPE IT HELPS YOU IS SOME FORM AT ALL!!!
That's not HGB. This guy has been around a bit. Also, he called the French "weaker." Well around since april with only .6 posts a day. :( i only called the french weaker because I DO LOVE THEM!!! but even i have to admit they are in a sense "weaker". Not like wimp weak but in the sense everyone else is much STRONGER!!!!! Btw i liked ur post the best. nice and jokey :D
My respones are in bold. Exuse any typos or things not making sense as i just finished my first week of a very terrible freshmen year in hghschool.
