My way was to have Telekineses plasmid ready when attacking the Rosies or electro shock for the bouncers and then shot him with Incendiary bolts from the cross bow. the Telekineses was for when he threw the Proximity Mines at you

Earlier in the game i shot a explosive barrel with Proximity Mines then tossed it at him then finish him off with the Flag grenades

For the bouncers I would rig the area in between me and the bouncer with lots of trap bolts and proximity mines then attack the bouncer, making him charge towards me and setting of the traps. For the rosie's I dont really have a plan except to hit hard and fast lol.

The fastest way to kill them is to use Incendiary Bolts with crossbow,but with a special tactic! You must fast shot and then fast switch to plasmid and the fast switch back to crossbow and do that a few times!

Depends on the place, difficulty, type of BD, what I have available...
Setting traps mostly (trap wires and mines), esp. for bouncers. Rosies are harder, avoid getting hit by the rivet gun is an important aspect there, ;) but traps can be set there too. Throwing explosive things with telekinesis sometimes, esp. on harder levels. On survivor I used Hypnotize more than I have done on all other runs in together. Best way is simply to let them fight each other. But it's risky, be very careful with where you shoot and what you set on fire... :D

In the beggining I'd hide under the docks and use the machine gun on the rosies and the shotgun and circle strafing on the Bouncers.

Later on I'd use a combo of trap bolts, swarm, and the shotgun, rockets, or crossbow. I'd usualy use control big daddy and have two of them fight so I'd usualy kill one that way.

If I had any friendly turrets, flame throwers, rocket launchers, or cameras then I would lead the big daddy to them.

I've been going through it on hard and I've found tht the best way of killing them is using Security bots or turrets. Usually either with a hacked security camera and security bullseye, or with a failhack + sb. Towards the end of the gme it may tke a couple of minutes to do, but you can just stand back and take photo's without any problems.

Cool! Never thought of your strategy with the mines. Wish I was more creative. I never really did use the mines though.

On Neptune's Bounty (on Hard), I hid in the floor crawlspace you get to access early in the level. While the Big Daddy would be standing on the grated part of the floor above, I'd shoot it in the feet, then hide. After 30-45 minutes of widdling down it's health, I'd finally kill it.


But here's something I haven't gotten to try on a Big Daddy: Attach 6 Proximity Mines to your Security Bot, piss off a Big Daddy, then let your Security Bot fly toward the Big Daddy. :D

I didn't even know you could attach them to your Security Bot until a friend mentioned he attached one to a wheel on a slot machine. I looked up at my Security Bot like "I wonder..." and shot one on it. Stuck quite nicely. I ran to a Splicer, pissed it off, and the Bot blew up in his face. :D

Out of all of them, mine works best! Instead of consciously attaching them to a tank or barrel and then picking it up and throwing it, the Security Bot does it all by itself! :D

I prefer my way since it just works best for me.
Pile up a bunch of tanks/barrels next to the BD, then when he is really near, bust out your pistol (or machine gun) - use armor piercing if available - then shoot one of the tanks. Not only does it do a lot of damage, he doesn't know it's you who's up to no good.

How?

I shoot with the firebolts on his head.
Fast as i can i press 2 times right mouse button and can shoot again without loadingtime between shots.

If you can hit a security drone on the fly with 20 mines, I don't think you'd need to do that to take down a BD. :p

Yeah, the 'bees' have that same problem. Even "Electric Flesh" or the one that shocks EVERYBODY in the vicinity, have that problem: there's your tame BD right beside you, and then suddenly he's pushin' a drill thru your body....

Here's something that happened to me in relation to this:

I had Static Discharge 1 & 2 on, and I was passing a Big Daddy on the stairs. Suddenly, my screen shakes, I see a circle around me, and the roar of a Big Daddy. A Splicer smacked me with his melee weapon in the back, which stunned him and pissed the Big Daddy off. Lucky for me, I was playing on easy at the time...


You know what? I feel like actually trying that. I think I may go to my BioShock (360) and try to cover a security body in as many Proximity Mines as I can get. :D

Yes, it happens in Arcadia a lot. In my last run I saw it several times, once in the Tree Farm. Two of them walking alongside each other, each with a Little Sister in tow. Both girls chatting as usual. Pretty bizarre. :)
I was hoping they would go to the same vent, but unfortunately one turned towards the Farmer's Market, the other continued straight ahead.

I've even seen two BDs fight in Arcadia once. I didn't see how it started, but I guess they bumped into each other and couldn't get out of the way. Only one had a LS that time, and he lost, so it was an easy rescue, I just had to wait and watch the fight. :D

The most LSs I saw at one vent was three. One is for Tenenbaum's reward, one is after I rescued her and one is when a BD calls her from the vent. It was funny because they wait in a line until the vent is vacant again. xD

Fun way 2 kill (ineffective on hard mode, murder on medium and easy):
Telekinesis + Dead Big Daddy = 20 tons of WIN.
You can block bullets with it, then you can throw it at your enemies for 1 hit kills. If enemy is a big daddy on easy or medium, 3 hit kills. On hard mode, like... alot. I haven't done it on hard.

My favorite method is to use Incinerate, followed with a volley of Heat-Seeking RPGs. It's a pretty quick and efficient way of killing them. Usually, if their health gets too low to justify another RPG, then I'll use my pistol or my wrench to finish the rest.

I also like using Insect Swarm, but I like using that on pretty much everything.

Dang shieldfreak that was exactly what i was going to post minus finishing off the BD with a wrench. Love the incinerate heat-seeking RPG combo, it just feels soo right. The only downside to insect swarm is sometimes the overzealous bees will start **** with a BD you're not even aware of, very much like using static discharge.

I've been using Static Discharge with my "evil" file, since I obviously can't hypnotize Big Daddies.

It really came in handy when I was waiting for the Lazarus Vector to deploy, and God knows it'll be useful against those creepy Splicers in Fort Frolic.

I personally love Electric & Explosive bucks for the Big Daddies. I also love using Electric Gel on them. But works best when the Chemical Thrower is fully upgraded.

When it comes to owning the Big Daddies, only one weapon that works all the time is the Grenade Launcher. That baby knows how to make men cry.
The other weapons range from powerless to only decent on survivor. :(
I wish they made the pistol and machine gun more power. Their regular rounds are practically useless.
Like maybe for the machine gun, increase the rate of fire instead. The kickback rarely affects me since I'm just holding back the camera stick to neutralize it. I'm not sure what can be done to improve the pistol. Clearly the max ammo allowed is a problem, but it can't be improved without making it look like another machine gun. :(

I would use incinerate 3 on the big daddy, with no discrimination. The way I fought each big daddy was always different. Bioshock ps3 has gliches. I once wrenched a rosie to death because I simply ran around it in circles until it was dead....that took a very long time. Usually I solid snake it and use the electric buck and incinerating bolts they seem to be very effective.

It seems there is a 10 Proximity Mine limit before they spontaneously explode by themselves. It could be a Max-on-Map, or a Max-on-Object, but that doesn't matter. After attaching 10 Proximity Mines to my deactivated bot, I reactivated it and begun looking for a Big Daddy. Suicide Bot, forgetting it can float over Railings, took the long way around and found a regular Splicer along the way, causing a considerably large explosion.

Someone else should attempt this method sometime, check it's total effectiveness.

Normally I'll use my Swarm Plasmid so the Daddy's distracted, then I'll use either my crossbow or shotgun with exploding shells. Depending on which I have more ammunition of.

I found telekinesis works best against Rosie.

I use most of the time shotgun, exploding barrels, mines and teleknesis. I do it like this: I place 4 mines on the exploding barrel, I use teleknesis to throw it at the Big Daddy. The barrel will explode and the mines take more damage. after that the Big Daddy took enough damage to take out with a shotgun shot.

Once I get the Cross Bow, Trap Bolts all the time. Set up 8-10 in a halway or where you are, shoot the Big Daddy once and hide, he runs at you. And listen to the pleasent sounds of him being shocked to death. It's how I got Brass Balls.

Before I get the crossbow? Shotgun-Electric Shock combo.

I use elaborate traps that include turrets, puddles, mines, and tripwires. All setup in a rollercoaster fashion so I just run through the level firing my machine gun and watch him follow me to his doom! (or I die, you never know)

Once, I was on easy. I had frozen field 1 and 2 on, and I shattered the rosie using only a wrench. O_O

Well, I just got the "Tough Guy" trophy (for the “Worlds of Hurt” DLC on PS3) and that was an eye opener. ;) The requirement is "Rescue the Little Sister in “Worlds of Hurt” using only plasmids, tonics, the wrench, and the research camera, on Medium or higher difficulty".

Amazing what you can do with just enrage, security bullseye and... insect swarm! :D

I used to use a lot of electric stuff (buck, trap bolts, gel) but it's so ****ing cheap and just takes the fun out of fighting them. Now I usually use mostly telekinesis and crossbow, with other stuff thrown in here and there.

Yeah that's how I usually did it. Since my electric gel never got any use on any splicers, I threw it all away on BD's. Got around half or more of their health down with 100 worth of gel by that time, a couple of grenades, a few electric buck, and maybe some wrenches to the face to make fun of it and done.

If I'm actually looking to get my ass kicked a bit, then that's when I break out the armor piercing rounds and explosive buck. By that time I'll actually look to be more resourceful by looking for explosive containers and more importantly a safe spot in which to reload. :D

The easiest way I found was right up in their face. Hit them with Electro Bolt to start combat, then run right up to them point blank with the shotgun loaded with Electric Buck. When its empty, hit them with Electro Bolt again to stun them then reload. On normal difficulty, it only takes four or five shells to drop one. Most of the time they didn't even get the chance to hit me.

Follow the big Daddy and find out where he always goes to pick up a LS. Then Use telekinesis and drop all the nearby bodies in front of a security camera, you may have to move a lot if the S camera is far away. Then she walks over to the s camera. Hit the BD with security bullseye and the 60 second bots wil down 1200 health, Do this 3-4 times and he dies: You never get hurt.:eek:

When I was on easy I just used four shots of the shotgun, when I was on hard I placed around three proximty mines between me and the Big Daddy, switched to grenades, shot the Big Daddy once in the back making him charge towards me and taking off half of his health in the process.

for bouncers i would distract them with insect swarm then lay down around 10 trap bolts, then burn him to get the bogs off of him and so he would rush at me and 1, 2, 3 he's down!

rosies i find a bit harder as they have ranged attacks and dont run through trap bolts as often so i plant 6 land (proximety) mines on a fuel tank, use telekineses to throw it at him, and finish him off with eletric buck shot from the shotgun and/ or if necessary incindiary bolts

I find a Big Daddy, then figure where hes going. I'll run ahead of him and set about 5 trapbolts, then send bees on him to make him run after me into the trap. If he isn't dead by then I shoot more crossbow at him and grenades.

My favourite tactic is to go trigger an alarm tile while hacking something, go tag the Daddy with Security Bullseye and let the security bots do the rest. On hard, it usually takes two security alerts to deal with them, but I take very little damage and, it costs me very little EVE and ammo. Most effective method imho. My favourite tactic is to go trigger an alarm tile while hacking something, go tag the Daddy with Security Bullseye and let the security bots do the rest. On hard, it usually takes two security alerts to deal with them, but I take very little damage and, it costs me very little EVE and ammo. Most effective method imho. That sounds like a good idea. I never use Bullseye, though. I like using Exploding and Electric bucks. They always get the job done nicely.

I prefer to use trap bolts on bouncers, and security bullseye and rpg mix for rosies. With the trap bolts, make sure there's none left over for the next BD to walk into accidentaly. One time a bouncer hit a stray bolt, followed me into a room, and nailed me in the back right in the middle of a fight with a bunch of houdini and spider splicers. When I came back from the vita-chamber, he PAID dearly.

I like to use the Hynotize Big Daddy Plasmid to lure him in an area with alot of splicers or even security bots. Once the splicers and or security bots start to come after you the big daddy takes over and they go after the big daddy. You may have to do this a few times but it is a sure fire way to get the big daddy out of the picture. I also like to use Security Bullseye on the Big Daddy. Hit him with that when there are splicers or security bits around and he will be dust in no time.

I usually take an upgraded crossbow (if i have one) and shoot at it, in no time its dead. Without a crossbow, I would use a shotgun with electric bucks, frag grenades will also do the job, and i usually have 1 sentry following me, so guess its no problem at all.

Trap bolts are probably the best way to kill a BD. Especially a Bouncer, since they follow you, as to where a Rosie keeps its distance. Soon as they run through the bolts, just fire a few electric/exploding bucks and you're done.

After that it they only need one shot of an electric buck and they're down.

I only used the wrench in the game... until the final battle with Fontaine at least. I used tonics to upgrade my wrench until it was a real force to be reckoned with and paired it with static charge... it was pretty funny seeing them go down just by hitting them with the wrench, but it worked.

For Bouncers, I usually just use the shotgun or grenade launcher while dodging each charge.
For Rosies, I usually make a plan depending on what I can find in the area. If I can't find anything, then I use one of these tactics:
-Electric Gel it until it dies
-Use Incinerate! and run
-Use a bunch of frag grenades without really any plan
-Use a bunch of electric buck and AP machine gun bullets
-Charge in and hope I don't die

I dont get interrupted cuz i wait for the little sister to find its corpse to harvest then they're just sitting prey :D

Definately easiest way to kill a bd is with trap bolts. They do so much damage and as long as you know where the big daddy is going to walk it gives you a load of time to get ready too.

bouncers: 12 trap bolts, incinerate n armor piercing bullets ( just in case)

rosies: 7 trap bolts, armor piercing bullets, target dummy luring him towards the trap bolts explosives r so not effective against the both kinds so don't bother using those on survivor

in the beginning it's kinda hard killing a rosie telekinesis comes in handy but most of the time i used lots of ammo on evry weapon i had shotgun, thompson, pistol n using his own mines n off course target dummy n enrage

but at the end of the game killing a big daddy becomes child play though unless u piss off two big daddies while going for the last lil sister so u end up using aaallll of the electric gel that was meant for fontaine XD

true haha what i do is take the dead body of another big daddy and used that as a shield and as a flying hunk of metal. Its funny as takes barely any EVE from using it.

However, if armored shell isn't working its wonders when it should be I usually will play around with telekinesis just because there are so many creative things you can do with it and corpses are pretty deadly. :D

Today I was playing around on Hepesteus. And I saw a BD with a LS on a set of short stairs (You could go beneath them. since it was a bouncer I thought I would be safe from a melee (and I was), however something happened that was so f-ed up it was the first time I really wanted to have recorded what happened anyway heres how it went.

I was in the area just beneath the stairs (trying to lure the BD back down them) when suddenly I got stuck (turns out the BD was above me) finally I got unstuck and as soon as I did I Heard 'Get up Mr. Bubbles. Please!' Confused. I looked up to see a LS alone with no BD corpse in sight. Easiest kill ever (I didn't feel like waiting for another BD to come along to see if this was a rare thing or a glitch)

It was so funny i sware i was going to die of laughter. But what i didnt say is that the little sister that was with the big daddy. She jumped off the ledge also and that made me laugh more. She was okay of course.

I always feel a tinge of guilt in fighting the big guy but I try to remember what he is actually doing to the little sisters in terms of forcing them to live within his own existence.

I've learned in my second time playing Bioshock that the most effective way of depleting his energy is to use the electric buck. Save them up for him especially - it stuns him momentarily and you can fire all your rounds into him without much opposition. Works for me.

many people do that and have said so--not that im discoraging it--it is a very effective technique. But illl be devoted to other ways to get the job done;)

I circle strafe with what i've got until I get the 'nade launcher with heat seeking RPG's then I just bum rush with a few RPG's and reap my reward. I like to end the fight quickly.:D

When I played on hard, didn't have much health or amo and wanted some ADAM, I'd find one of the many secret hatches in the game and camp out. I'd run out, attack and run back in for cover.

My favorite way of killing a Big Daddy is hypnotizing one, letting a few splicers take shots at him, then letting him go find a lil' sister after the hypno. wears off.... In the meantime, I go hypnotize a second Big Daddy, and have him attack the first one I was using. Usually the first one is weak enough to go down without me wasting too many bullets.

My least favorite way is shooting one on accident and not realizing it.... :eek:

My fav way is by first finding a dead cat or person and carry it in the air till i find a big daddy. then i throw it at them and they step back for a sec becouse i don't think they know what to think and grab my grenade lancher and blash him to kingdom come. it's fun, try it. they actully take step back and if you throw a cat it's even funnier. i know i'm sick.:p

All I did was go nuts shooting them with the machine gun or shot gun. Just average bullets. I always had tons of health on me. Occasionally I'd use telekinesis to toss explosive back, but generally I just attacked them head on.
