Tonight just after the other player threw all his horsemen armies at my well defended city with riflemen defending at 82, bang..."you've been disconnected from the playstation network."
just wonder if it was possible to be disco'd.

I don't think so.
Especially on PS3 I would blame the server before the other player. I've gotten this message many times on both systems, and there doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to it.
Though it did happen to me a few times whenever I've taken over a city, or just when I revealed my advantage to the other player, I still think those are coincidences. It still is understandable to be suspicious in the types of situation of situation that you described.
But still, it's more likely that it's the servers, the game, or internet connection and not the other player.

I don't know about the disconnects, but I do have resynchs happen at such opportune moments (for the other player) that I often wonder if they're intentional.

I know what you're saying, but isn't almost every other turn an "oportune moment"?
the game is so fast paced and you've got a lot of key things that you are doing in your head (that your opponnet probably doesn't even know about) that you can almost always convince yourself that the game glitched at just the "right time".
As I said before, unless I know the player is dishonest from previous expirence or it occurs a few times, on PS3 I'd always give the other player the benefit of the doubt. MP is so buggy that it's made of all a little overly suspecious at times. There are a lot of questionable things that happen with glitches at times, but the simplest explaination is probably correct most of the time.
I've had several players accuse me of all kinds of things, and I've never intentional tried to alter the gameplay in anyway outside of the game parameters.

i agree with that as well... it does happen to often at opportune moments... i had it happen most often when a battle is about to occur next turn and the other player can see it coming like my horse army on offensive and all of the sudden boom resync and no horse army yet another fault of lousy testing

Regarding the specifics of resynchronization/disconnection, in my experience, this has nothing to do with the player but is strictly a gaming artifact. I have 2 xboxes & my son & I play Xbox Live unranked & system link & both setups have the same issues & neither of us ever glitch a game as we don't know how.
Grayson is right. Be careful about rushing to judgement. Unless you've got concrete evidence, all the internal angst it's going to cause you isn't worth it anyway. I have played players who intentionally lag/glitch the game but it's usually only a few players, ironically all of the confirmed glitchers I've played w/on 360 are in the top-20 in H2H which seems to attract glitchers more than FFA. Many people will glitch the game when someone else takes the full minute timer which I find completely bogus as the 1 minute timer is the game parameter. If you aren't willing to give other players their 1 minute, why are you playing the game?!? Those are the game rules!
I get accused all the time & I've never glitched a game, don't even know how if I wanted to. I'm just a slow player who basically can't do anything in 1 minute like tie my shoes, much less actually manage a strategy game! :)

I just had a game (PS3 ranked FFA) where I was up against a few noobs that I had beat before.
this time I had my mongols against a Zulu and two Aztecs. (I figured that they were all going to try to rush everyone else).
about 5 turns in one of the players paused the game. next turn the usual flashing 'x player is leaving the game' comes up and I'm frozen. I hadn't even finshed building my first warrior and wasn't pressing any buttons. Nor had I run into any of the 3 of them. My assumption is that two of them found each other and one found an empty cap first.
that's just dumb.
but I see people trying the pause glitch all the time now. usually only the people who aren't good at the game and don't do anything at all.
there's no real reason to be hitting the pause button when you get attacked if you aren't trying to cheat.
