Transformers 2 was not that great... It had a bunch of stupid scenes that were unecessary and Devastator gets taken down as if he were an extra. A bunch of new Transformers are introduced and a few unnamed extras that die quickly. Too many stupid jokes and unecessary scenes and characters. If they would have cut all the **** out, it would have been a good movie. At least the story was a little better this time around by following the original cartoon a bit and the action sequences were definitely top notch. Here's hope that the third movie will involve Unicron and the Dinobots.

Transformers 2 was pretty disappointing. Way to many sexual jokes and references (a robot humping Megan Fox's leg...seriously?), and the plot was totally lacking. Even though the action was good, it just wasn't as cool as the first one for some reason. Meh. :\ I should have gone to see Star Trek for a third time instead. Now THAT was a good movie!!! :D
(Are they seriously making a third Transformers? Because if they are, I'm boycotting.)

Ditto. And being a fan of the show, it just made it more awesome. I was literally quivering with happiness hours after seeing it. I bought the theme from the soundtrack just so I could relive the awesomeness until it comes out on Blu-Ray. :D

Another great movie: Up. Pixar really hit the nail on the head with that one. Loved it. It wasn't as good as Toy Story, but NOTHING can compare to Toy Story. :p

I recently watched 'Year One'. Goddamn, it was awful. Jack Black wasn't funny, Michael Cera wasn't funny, the plot wasn't funny, the acting was god-awful...the whole thing was just a friggin' mess. What happened, JB? You used to make me laugh so hard...
Anyway, The Hangover...
What can really be said? It had its good and funny moments, but it was mostly just an overdone blob of a movie. The ending was a perfect example of why recent comedies are getting flushed down the crapper because of unnecessary toilet humor. The movie would have been relatively clean (by nowday's standards) except for those over-the-top explicit images at the end. The audience was actually laughing at those last few pictures. (Yes, the 'BJ' ones.) Really, guys? Why'd they have to put that in there? Really. It's not like it accomplished anything or brought on any 'shock value.'
Words to chew on. :p

So i just watched Transformers 2 today and i absolutely loved it. It was just pack with action and quite a bit of humor, although i wish they'd tone down the humping and sexual jokes/references.Overall the movie was great, tons of action and really well done CG models. If they ever decide to do transformers 3 i really hope it has Unicron, transformers wouldn't be transformers if it didn't have unicron.:D

Oh lord The Proposal was bad (good thing we snuck into it just because) I also saw Up and it was one of the best animated movies I've seen this year. I honestly enjoyed the movie alot. Drag Me To Hell was another movie I absolutely loved.
I really don't go to the movies often, and lately there hasn't been to much out that I would pay 12 dollars to see lol but, the last thing I saw was the Dragon Ball movie, and all I have to say was that could quite possibly be the most disappointing thing I have ever seen in my life.
It was just absolutely terrible. I really want to slap the director as well as the writers for making that abomination.
And to my knowledge there making a live action Cowboy Bebop movie... the thought of that makes me sick.
But I heard good things about the hangover, I'll probably go see that sometime this week tho... I just hope it is as good as everyone says it is

I thought they were pretty much the same movie, just with different characters. It had almost the exact story as Borat, but slightly altered to fit the character of Bruno. I just enjoyed the material in Bruno more than I did Borat, which is also comedic genius.

In execution, they are quite the same, but not in content. Though I've been thinking, maybe I'm wrong. Most scenes do take a piss on something, be it the reactions people give towards gay people, or gay themselves. I think the fact that you saw a ☺☺☺☺☺ flying on the screen every five minutes made me unable to think clearly. :p

Only the fact that it's stop motion, other then that it has a completely different story. I haven't seen it, but from what I know it's about a young girl who finds a secret door in her new home that leads to alternate world that is much better than her own, but things end up not being what they seem.

Me too! I like how she did the running scene near the Burrow. Really added a nice touch of lunacy there.
Obviously the movie had a few weaknesses I really didn't like. But out of all the other HP movies, I'd have to say it came out on top. And as always, make sure you've read the book at least once (it's better to understand the events happening yourself rather than having someone explain it to you). I really like pointing out what they changed in the movie compared to the book. The ultimate disappointment for me was that they didn't do a good job of revealing the Half-Blood Prince as the movie progressed.

They didn't do a good job of it in general, unless you read the books you would never be able to figure out who it was, and even when it was revealed, it didn't feel as big as it probably should have been.

The only problem i have with the movie is the 3D glasses,i thought they were going to use the stereoscopic technique used in theaters, but they opted for the cheap stuff and only give you these crappy paper glasses with green and magenta lenses....I popped it in and watched it in 3D,but the green & magenta lenses just don't feel right, they gave me a major headache.Nevertheless it was a great movie, fun to watch!:p

I read something the other day that the reason they included anaglyph other than polarized lenses with the release is because TVs don't have the same projection that movie theatre screens do, therefore it just couldn't be achieved to have anything other than the magenta/cyan lenses.

Metropolis anime film on Film 4.
Good film, freaky a little bit.
Some was a bit like a generic Astro Boy.
Obviously it has connections to Bioshock as it is from a manga done from Metropolis book, film, which had some influence on Bioshock.
Bioshock is such a impactful game. You find yourself immediately noticing stuff that is Bioshock connected and like.
I went fangirl when there was a male called Atlas in it lol.
Atlas influenced by the loon of Atlas from Metropolis to a ammount.
I wish Tima ahd taken teh Ziggurat into space and it had all gone right.
It was not violent and gory enough for me. Used to the levels in Studio Ghibli.
Also had the flaws less seen in Bioshock. A lot preachy and with some fussy emotionality.
I may look for a free scan of the manga. Did not liked it enough to buy it.
If you want to see something cool and retro futuristic and awesome and Bioshock related and like watch the film.

Hey! Where's the Classic movie option? I'm not a big Tarantino fan. I like the movies (some), but I can't stand when he does the whole 'Chapters' thing. I heard Inglorious Bastards was great, though.
I LOVE horror movies, no matter HOW cheesy they are. But I really, really enjoy the extremely gory ones. Though I've seen some VERY disturbing ones that just...omg...(Begotten, for example). But my favourites are the black & white classics. Specially the ones with Bette Davis, Cary Grant, Frank Sinatra, the Harold Lloyd silent films, etc. Ninotchka, The Fountainhead, Penny Serenade, Nosferatu, Dr. Jeckyl & Mr. Hyde (1920); these are some of my faves. :)

I saw Inglourious Basterds recently and loved it, although some of the scenes were a bit long, and you didn't really see the Basterds gain their infamy. Instead it takes place after the Nazi's already fear them, and you don't get to see much action. Regardless it was a very entertaining film.

It was definitely different from what I expected but, like you said, still good.
Brad Pitt's character alone was enough to be worth the money to see the movie in my oppionion. One of the funniest performances I've seen in a long time.
"Actually, Werner, we're all tickled to here you say that. Frankly, watchin' Donny beat Nazis to death is is the closest we ever get to goin' to the movies" :D
EDIT: For shame. I just looked at the poll and saw that animated films is listed as a genre. Animaion is not a genre it is an art form that can be within or without any genre the filmmaker wants.

Me too. I think Red Dragon wasn't anywhere near as good as the others though.
Yeah Red Dragon was alright, I actually enjoyed Hannibal Rising though. But Silence of The Lambs is the best.
Also Repo was good, I'm not much of a musical person either but I do like the occasional musical. Shilo was hot to so that helped. lol

I watch Deadgirl (2008) and hmm, it had some good moments. It showed the dark side of human nature, one which I find appalling but nonetheless, I think I liked it for some reason.
Watched "Angel on His Shoulders". It's a movie in black and white about a drug dealer (aka protagonist) getting out of jail. His partner (who has a terrible smirk on his face all the time) picks him up then kills the protagonist so that he can have all the profits. The movie takes a very unexpected turn: the scene shifts to Hell. Anyway, to wrap things up without spoiling it: He meets a Satan and makes a deal with him so that he can have his revenge on his double-crossing partner. In exchange, he must carry out the devil's plan.
Don't let this description fool you though, surprisingly they managed to fit in a few laughs for the audience.
Worth watching at least once.
I also watched two really old gameshows: Sylvania's Beat the Clock and the Price is Right (the first host for this show looks pretty similar to Drew Carey).

I saw Where the Wild Things Are on Saturday, which was very good, but depressing. I was a huge fan of the book when I was little, my mum would actually hide the book from me because I would ask her to read it to me so often.
I'm upset that a lot of people didn't get what the movie was really about, and that they only saw a bratty kid, and nothing more, without realizing that it was the loneliness, fear, confusion and sense of loss that Max was feeling that led him to act that way.
The entire movie was very symbolic, and I thought that it was an accurate look at what it's really like to be a kid, rather than the cliche that kids are always happy and live a wonderful life.
The locations, cinematography and costume design were beautiful as well, I was in awe throughout the whole movie. I definitely recommend it if you're a fan of movies that are more thoughtful and symbolic than most.

I just got done watching "Repo The Genetic Opera."
And I would like to point out that I like movies like "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," "Sweeny Todd," and, at a push, "Rent" or "The Phantom of the Opera" (I have to feel sick and particularly girly to watch those), but all this film made me do was go: "Whuuuu?"
I mean, Anthony Head was amazing as a semi-psychotic, semi-bad guy (the Repo personality was neat) but it was the most random songs shoved together with gore inbetween...
Is there anyone out there who could explain it to me a little bit? Maybe they missed a little in translation from the stage to the movie, or maybe I was out too late last night for my own good, because I just didn't get it.

Yeah… only one of those movies was directed by Tim Burton. Contrary to popular belief Tim Burton did not direct Nightmare Before Christmas, Henry Selick (James and the Giant Peach, Coraline) did. Tim Burton wrote the story and was the executive producer, but not the director.
As for 9, that was a movie adapted from Shane Acker's Academy Award nominated short film. Tim Burton liked the short film and approached Shane Acker about making it into a feature length film. Shane Acker wrote and directed the feature length film, and Tim Burton was just the executive producer.
I do not deny that Tim Burton is talented, and i do like a lot of the movies he has directed (Sweeney Todd, Edward Scissorhands, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to name a few). But I just wanted to help give Henry Selick and Shane Acker their respective dues.
Watched "The Exorcist - The Version You've Never Seen Edition" and "A Soviety Story" in the last two days.
Despite the fact that I got an unusual craving for pea soup after watching Exorcist, it didn't affect me nearly half as much as Soviet Story did. It puts Andrew Ryan's hatred towards his own motherland into words and pictures (you also get to see a picture of two victims from the genocide that look like Toasty). Can't really say much... just, watch it. If you don't know much about what the Soviet did before, during, and after WWII; then this is a must-watch.

The saddest movie ever made is Star Trek Nemesis. It's the saddest I've ever seen. I haven't seen it in a few years, but I was just surfing the star trek wiki, and just reading about it makes me want to cry. :( Spoilers!!: It's because Data died. He's my favorite character out of all of the star trek series. When a character dies in a movie that continues the story of a long running tv series, it's so much sadder than when it happens in a regular movie. You have seven years of shows to get to know the character first.

Brilliant movie! Pixar has once again proven that they can make a masterpiece out of absolutely anything, and the scene you're describing is potentially one of the most beautiful moments in the entire history of cinema. Bold words, I know, but it's hard to deny when only a few minutes into the film the entire audience is already crying.

I can't wait for Toy Story 3.
yes bold words, but when my parents told me if i wanted to watch it, i was like why not, so i sat down, it started and i was like "Oh' great another kids movie" 5 mins later into this scene, i felt a weird emotional feeling, i wanted to look at my parent, but didnt, and there was a silence for a while. his life only gets sadder, because they could never fullfill there dreams, yet at the end, he finally gets the house to be at the top of the mountain, WITHOUT KNOWING IT!!
When his house caugt on fire, i was like "OH NO!!" in my mind... that is the evilest thing ever... i thought it was gonna completely burn up, and on the other side, the bird was capture, so it was a double hit to my emotions.. when he finally got his house to where he wanted, we all knew he was gonna go back someway..
the only negative i can about this, is the jokes, well obvious they were meant for little kids, but the overall theme was great:)
sorry if i spoiled it for some, BUT THIS WAS A GREAT MOVIE

Up was a great movie, seriously not what I expected. I am a huge Pixar fan but this one was not the usual Pixar joint. I just watched 9, that movie left me feeling empty.
A last note on UP lets not forget the whole point of the ending. He spends all that time trying to fulfill his late wife's dreams, only to read the book to discover she had already lived the greatest adventure a life with him.

Well you don't need to learn the code for it. But if you must you need to write [SPO-ILER] *put text in here* [/SPO-ILER] ,But write it without the hyphen,i just put that there so it wouldn't black it out.
The easier way is that when you have finished typing there is a button that looks like this [?],any text that is highlighted when you press that will get blacked out.;)

Tim Burton is a genius! All his films are great. 9 looks good.
Edward Scisserhands is one of the rare films to make me cry.
The original Batman Movies were done by Tim Burton, the ones with Michael Keaton, also BeetleJuice, and Planet of the Apes (the remake from 2001). which are freakin SWEET movies, he also directed Sleepy Hallow (havent seen it but want to)
I recently saw the Movie Equilibrium and was amazed, i never heard of it and just randomly bought it at best buy and when i watched it had no idea why it wasnt a big hit or anything, Its a really good movie, I also bought the darkman Trilogy and thought it was pretty funny. i could tell that it was done by Sam Raimi though.
I also bought The Happening and GI JOE and thought GI JOE was ok, it didnt exactly strike me as 'THE BEST FREAKIN MOVIE OF THE CENTURY' as some of my brothers friends were saying it was. The happening i thought was good, but was kinda goofy especially when Mark Whalberg starts talking to a tree, but overall i thought it was a good movie

Just rewatched The Iron Giant because I'm writing an essay on it. It's an absolutely fantastic movie and it's criminal that it didn't get very much recognition.
If you have never seen this masterpiece of animation, drop what you're doing, run to blockbuster (or order it from Netflix) and pick up this amazing movie. It's directed by Brad Bird, the director of Ratatouille and The Incredibles.
EDIT: I just saw the trailer for Dreamworks' new movie How to Train Your Dragon and was shocked by the fact that this is a Dreamworks movie that actually looks really good (I loved Kung Fu Panda, but even that was iffy from the trailers). I was completely stupified by the fact that I could possibly be excited for a Dreamworks movie, let alone the fact that it looked and sounded more like Disney than anything else. Then I saw who's directing it and a lot was explained.
Chris Sanders, who directed Lilo & Stitch and originated the idea for Bolt, is directing this movie. I know he and John Lasseter had a disagreement over the direction for Bolt and he stepped down from the position of director for that film, but it appears that he left Disney alltogether.
Anyway, all that is to say the movie looks good and you should check out the trailer:

Today was a good day for movie trailers. First off there was a new trailer for Burton's Alice in Wonderland (http://www.apple.com/trailers/disney/aliceinwonderland/trailer_large.html) which really looks to bear more resemblance to Through the Looking Glass than Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Interesting none-the-less. Then there was a trailer for the Clash of the Titans (http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/clashofthetitans/) remake which I was initially hesitant about but it looks pretty cool, I must say. And finally, the trailer for Iron Man 2 (http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/ironman/) which, of course, looks awesome.
With those, Toy Story 3, and Christopher Nolan's Inception 2010 is looking to be a good year for movies.

Speaking of Alice In Wonderland, did anyone see the SyFy (ugh, stupid change) miniseries, Alice? After the debacle that was Tin Man, I wasn't ready to give a few hours over to another SyFy miniseries.

EDIT: magicman read my mind! How was Alice?I thought it was pretty entertaining. If your hoping for something that recreates the story of Alice in Wonderland, look elsewhere. The show takes aspects of Alice in Wonderland and re-invents them and shows what Wonderland might be like hundreds of years in the future. And, like the original disney movie, and most other recreations of Alice in Wonderland, they combine both Through the Looking Glass and Alice in Wonderland, and take parts from both. All in all though, it was a fun show to watch.

My favourite remains Ghost in the Shell, which came out in 1995.
Transformers is awesome end of story. But there where some good movies District 9, The hangover, Inglorious Bastetds, dragonball evolution (LOL I couldn't even keep a straight face while typng that one).

Watched "Inglorious Basterds" last night. I became very skeptical of Tarantino's work after being subjected to his Kill Bill series (and other films that he was involved in). The music made me cringe. Even the action (excess blood and gore) didn't seem right. The story was average. The acting was alright. I realize that it's not because he's a terrible director, but because the way he makes/presents his movies don't fit my preferences. I got the feeling that he's trying to make a live-action "manga" (if that can accurately describe his movies). This brings to mind: what might look/sound good on paper, might not have the same effect on screen. That's my take on it. My sister convinced me to take a look at Inglorious Basterds, insisting that it was a good movie and much better than Kill Bill 1 and/or 2.
While Inglorious Basterds still has its flaws, it was, in my opinion, exactly what my sister said it would be: a good movie and much better than the Kill Bill series. It still has a few goofy/over-the-top scenes (and annoying music) that you can expect in a Tarantino film, but he struck most of the right chords this time. It's certainly a movie that you have to see for yourself in order to make your own judgement. I'll definitely be watching it again very soon.
---
On the other hand I also watched Terminator: Salvation. If you weren't a fan of the saga, then you probably won't like this one either. In short: a so-so movie that trails behind T2: Judgement Day in terms of character developement and how certain action sequences play out, but has a lot of sweet eye-candy (fight scenes, explosions, robots, desolate landscapes, etc)! Definitely a movie you'd want to have when showing off your home theater.
---
I'll also be starting Watchmen (on Blu Ray) in a few days. I didn't get to watch it when it was released on the big screen, but perhaps Zack Snyder can wow me again like he did with his previous works.

I'm going to have to agree with Terminator salvation review. Not so much with the Inglorious Basterds review.
I personally loved "Basterds." But I am a Tarantino fan. It was set up like a western in the opening scene (which I thought was magnificent) and it only improved from there. It had plenty of gratuitious violence, which is what you come to expect from a Tarantino film. The music was phenominal. Ennio Morricone proves he is a brilliant composer by adding this film to his resume. And the acting was incredible. It wasn't like the stiff "War is Hell" acting you'll see out of other war films. The movie itself was incredibly entertaining. The stories (note that more than one plot usually exist in a Tarantino film) were great, and original.
Watchmen was garbage. I am a tremendous fan of Alan Moore, and Watchmen is one of the most incredible books I've ever read. I'm not a huge graphic novel fan, but Watchmen was brilliant. Zack Snyder is great at making the film look good. But unlike 300, Watchmen has too much substance and, believe it or not, too much philosophical meaning behind it. Snyder does a poor job of translating to screen. And, with the exception of Billy Crudup as Dr. Manhatten, the acting just wasn't spectacular. And true to Zack Snyder, every other shot is in slow motion. I didn't like Watchmen at all. But like I said, I am a loyal fan to the book.

Just got back from Avatar (also in 3D) and it was definitely good. Not great, but still good. I thought that the world and the concept were really cool but the story itself didn't really find it's true direction until the third act. I also thought that the sex scene was a bit gratuitous, not in the way it was filmed or portrayed, but because it felt like it was only in there because it's one of Cameron's trademark plot elements.
Overall though it was good. Better than a lot of other movies? Sure. Best movie of the year? Not even close.

As for Avatar having a bad story, of course it did. It was your stereotypical "hey guys, look at me I am a serious movie" good guy saves the day kind of movie. My thoughts on Avatar (written a few days back):
Well, where do I start? Avatar is already more worshiped than Jesus, and well, I’m just a bit confused. Not that it was bad, it wasn’t at all, but it was definitely not the best movie I’ve seen in years, and it’s certainly not Cameron’s masterpiece. What hyped the movie up so much was also its greatest flaw: the effects. The movie is a special effects extravaganza, and the problem was just what I knew it would be: the story takes a backseat to the effects.
The story follows Jake Sully, a paraplegic ex-marine sent to the great planet of Pandora, a magical land consisting of only computer-generated imagery, to participate in the ‘Avatar Program,’ which somehow allows a human being to synchronize with a synthetic ‘Na’vi,’ a blue monkey-like creature that inhabits the island and resides in the uncanny valley. The purpose of the program is at first, just to study the Na’vi, but one Mr. Mean Colonel has other plans: he wants to use it for evil. What kind of evil, you ask? The kind of hammy political-commentary variety of evil. He wants Jake’s Avatar to gain the trust of the native Na’vi so he can muscle in on their culture and steal their natural resources. I really do wish I was kidding. Anyway, you know how it goes from then on. Jake grows affectionate towards the blue monkeys and then starts an epic revolution.
The main problem for me was the runtime. It’s 162 minutes long, and a lot of the movie feels like padding. It’s not the kind of ‘this movie is very long, it’d merit from being watched in two sittings,’ it’s more the kind of ‘please make it stop!’ length. If every pointless scene added just to show off the effects was cut out of the film, the length would probably be around 45 minutes.
The reason why I’m being so critical is because this movie does have flaws, and I’m really wondering why critics don’t acknowledge them. But despite its flaws, Avatar is a very fun movie. Mostly just due to the visuals, but I didn’t expect anything else.
It’s, to paraphrase everyone’s favorite game critic: a popcorn movie: a little flavorless snack to munch on while you wait for something that really matters. Like that new Sherlock Holmes movie…

I just got back from Sherlock Holmes (lul, a trend?). And I was quite impressed. Guy Richie's directing skills took a nice forefront and the Dynamic of Downey Jr/Law as Holmes and Watson worked well. Rachael McAddams didn't do too badly as the femme fatale, neither did wotsername who played Watson's fiancee (sorry, I don't know her name, but she did a nice job). The only downside is the story was lacking (it was rather predictable) and that whilst Law and Downey Jr. saved the rather lackluster script by being awesome, it was missing the Richie touch of dialogue I was expecting. I realize he didn't write it, but there are some amazing scenes in his first two movies (Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch) that were absolutly amazing and make him one of my more favored directors (Bricktop's "Nemisis" speech in Snatch and the scene where the boys become hard men and take down the bovva boys next door thinking that they have money in LSATSB for example)
On the other hand, I think it is definitely deserving of the sequel that it is setting itself up for (and actually abandoned the semi decent storytelling that it could have had to accomplish). As such, it doesn't really end. Then again, does Sherlock Holmes ever find himself completely satisfied with solving a problem so that he feels there aren't any more? I doubt it. I want another one xD

Watched Paranormal Activity last night, was terrible. I didn't mind it as a movie, but because of the hype I was expecting a scary movie, not a laughfest.

Saw Avatar 3d the other week and loved it to pieces. I thought it may have been hyped up but the visuals were spectacular and the themes of the movie were just as impressive, close to my own views.

I loved District 9, it was so refreshing to see an alien movie that didn't have the aliens drawn towards an American city. I also enjoyed the opening where it was shown from news casts and interviews reminded of Statship Troopers. :)

Soo I went to see Legion last night and although it had some "funny" very dark moments it was a pretty bad movie. I only liked the full on battle between the fallen angel and an angel also the way they did the wings for the angels, THEY'RE BULLETPROOF!!11

The music was the second best part of that movie behind the cinematography! Guy Richie sure knows how to use slow mo right (the bombs exploding scene was most definitly my most favorite movie scene of the year). Yes, it was a little odd, but I think it worked. I have to buy the soundtrack now... When I can afford it >.<'
I bought the soundtrack off iTunes as soon as I got home, and I'm currently using the main theme track "Discombobulate" as my ringtone! Hans Zimmer is quickly becoming one of my favorite composers.
Sherlock Holmes was by far one of the best movies I've ever seen, I cannot say enough about it. It was a brilliant, sexy, stylish mess of Victorian genius (I have a profound love for the Victorian era), and despite what others are saying, I found it to be closer to the books than any other interpretation I've seen. All that was left out was his mastery of swordsmanship and his addiction to cocaine and morphine, although one of the song titles on the soundtrack is called "My Mind Rebels at Stagnation", which is what Holmes says in reply to Watson's disliking of what his addiction could do to his thoughts in the story, The Sign of Four.

I'm the same way, unless it's a movie I'm very fond of. I had a bit of difficulty sitting still towards the end of Avatar.
