i just got done playing the demo. it was awesome. it was a little short but i thought it gave u a good taste of how the game will work and the basics of some combat. the graphics were beautiful and it was easy to play and use all the weopon and plasmids. i couldnt wait for the game before the demo came out and now i cant bare not to have the final game. its gona be amazing!!!

What I did is I went to the settings and turned on the option for things to DL even when the XBOX is off, and when it messes up, turn it off for like 5 mins. I did that once and it was at 28% when i turned it off and 40% when i turned it back on:)

graphics.... are so smooth... awesome textures.... water looks life-like... the reflections are great.... if you've played darkness yet... its better than that....

i understand your anoyed but whining about it isnt going to get the demo done any quicker. They just wanted to get a demo out as soon as they could and unfortunately the pc version is taking a little longer so couldnt be released at the same time. At least this way some people get to play it other than making us all wait till the pc demo was completed

Sections close off, or at least they do once you hit the theater that I noticed, and you can't go back, but sure you can run around forever smashing and bashing. No time limit. I can already tell that even how you choose paths in certain places throughout the demo you can go back and play over differently with different plasmids or weapons.

Holly @$#$@, this game is freakin' intense...I was expecting it to be good but I didn't expect to feel the way I did while playing it...my hear was racing the whole time, the whole experience of uncovering this new underwater world...I'm truly impressed and amazed and the detail and imagination of the developers they have truly done an amazing job...and that ending spoiler...#@Q#$@%!

I made it to 77% after like 2 hours. Just stop the download and start again. It started me back at like 63% but within 20 minutes I'm at like 92% now....thus it helps to stop and start downloading it.

Thats my only advice, and I started downloading it right when everyone started tripping out that the demo was on marketplace.

Well all I did was start to download it went downstairs and watched 300 until the end of the Immortals fight came up and it was done played it 4 times in a row and its amazing. Ok, excellent demo, hits all the major points:

1. You get an excellect sense of game flow and game play.
2. Everything looks awesome!
3. You get a great feel immediately for how the controls work

As demos go, it is immediately engaging and doesn't just leave you baffled and confused. You'll enjoy playing it and scream at the end : "I WANT MORE, HERE TAKE MY WALLET!!!"

I've gotten a number of lousy demos in my day, and this is about as far from that as possible. It nicely balances between making a demo playable enough to seem like a game itself and too freaking short to be anything but a trailer itself.

Definitely worth the download, and it will easily drive sales for those looky-loos perched on the fence.

You can't. The machine has to be turned on to communicate with the servers.

Under console settings go to the shutdown section and enable background downloads. The ring of light should blink when you turn the 360 off to show it is still downloading.

go into the option go into shutdown and enable background downloads than turn the xbobx off and it will go quieter the lights will only flash ocasionalyy to tell you its on and it will turn of when the downloads are done

go to system blade, then consol settings, shutdown, and enable background downloads, once u do that turn off xbox and it will still download. it basicly turns the picture off and just uses the internet connection and the power.

The demo is really good. I just got done playing the first time through. Anyone who playing it really needs to up the brightness using the brightness utility in the beginning as I was unable to see almost anything until I changed it. I was kind of hoping to be able to fight a big daddie, but I doubted they'd put that in the demo. The water effects are really nice. My download only took about 2.5 hours.

Very perfect demo. One of the best I've played, and the graphics were more than I expected. I feel bad about harvesting after the LS and Big Daddy go up to you, and the LS says:
"Look, it's an angel!"

Bioshock has been on my "must-have" list since I first started reading about it, but there's always that outside chance that what seems like a sure thing turns out to be trash when you actually play it. This is so far from the truth in the case of the BS demo.

The graphics and effects are fantastic, and the game runs at a really smooth clip too! The controls feel perfect and the atmosphere is SO creepy. I spent so much time in the demo just wandering around looking at things, but always checking my back to make sure some freaky splicer wasn't rushing me.

I don't know what else to say. Bravo.

Summed it up perfectly. I just bought some Turtle Beach X1 Ear Force headphones today, and whaddaya know? Demo time. I was able to hear the amazing music, and sounds, all the while smashing some splicer skull.
The graphics were more than I expected too! From all the clips, it looked pretty mediocre to me!

After playing the Bioshock demo i know one thing i really suck at hacking in to the bots. The splicers are rentless damn good AI. The 21st can't get here fast enough.

That was amazingly fun. I love incinerate, I love the 1-2 punch, I love the weapons! I love the crazy Splicers, I love the creepy LS, I love... BioShock!

My only problem (and this is a little weird), is that there is no rush when the plane's tail crashes. You can sit and watch the corrodor flood for hours. The spider web cracks in the glass were a nice touch though.

why are poeple saying they should set up a seeding system it would be pointless for downloads as you would only be seeding when your sitting on your dashboard doing nothing as downloads stop when you play a game and so would seeding pluss whenever i use programs that let you seed i always turn it off as it slows down your own downloads

I downloaded the German version (better traffic to German servers, hehe ^^). I usually prefer US demos, though.

Played the demo twice so far - incredible fun! First time I got grilled by splicers in the trap, because the security bots I had shot down consumed all my EVE and health. The single bot I hacked hasn't helped that much.

In the second run I destroyed the camera and felt much better. I also took some routes through the level, which I had not taken before. Great level design!

Btw: Could it be that the bots point at some items for you? I wasn't sure if one was just stuck, but he sounded different.

Completed the demo NINE times! Simply staggering,no combat encounter ever played out the same,nor were collectables hiding in the same places.Totally awe inspiring!

Also interesting to note an advert for the teleportation plasmid,sadly no longer present in the full game!;)

Security bots: I didn't find it that hard to hack them. You just have to keep a cool head and look for a good pice to place down. You can always buy them out, if you can't "hack it" ;)

If your bot gets stuck, deactivate it, then reactivate it. My bot got stuck ontop of a VitaChmber. A few reactivations and it was fine.

I dunno, I guess I expected something a teensy more epic - see the plane crash, slightly longer bathysphere intro/ride. Again, maybe there's more in the full game.

3. Even the sound of the lights turning on in the lighthouse put me on edge. The music and sound so far are absolutely wonderful.

4. Disappointment - after the flaming furniture down the staircase bit, you can see a newspaper on the table, but can't read it. I'd love to read Rapture's newspaper.

5. A line of dialogue that caught me completely off guard, but I loved... "Look Mr. Bubbles! An angel!"

6. When approaching the Vita Chamber - "What is this? Press BACK." One press of a button gets you the info, but it takes THREE button presses to fully get back out of the menu when you're done. I know it's nit picky, but that's kind of annoying.

7. I'm at a loss for how to use an EVE Hypo.

EDIT: Found it buried in the menu. An on-screen prompt would be nice, the Adaptive Training and whatnot.

8. AWE-FREAKIN-SOME. Seeing a Little Sister's eyes peer out of her hole, then clambering noises as she hides...

And done.

They nailed almost everything. I have tiny complaints - couldn't figure out the EVE hypos at first, couldn't read the newspaper on the table, and I think the demo was just a weeeee bit heavy on the music... - but my main concerns have almost all disappeared after playing the demo. The gunplay is satisfying, the Plasmids work well, the hacking game provided a nice bit of "What the hell is th-OH GOD GO GO GO GO" anxiety, tons of searchable stuff makes me happy, and they absolutely knocked it out of the park as far as atmosphere/sound goes. This demo scared the hell out of me.

Also glad that so many moments we've seen in previews apparently come from the opening level, which means I won't be five hours in and go "Oh, right, here's the part where I get locked in the room" or "Oh yeah, here's where the elevator falls" - all of that happens right in the beginning of the game it seems, so almost everything after the opening should be fresh.

And while it wasn't quite the quintessential complete demo - see Psychonauts for an example of a perfect demo, as far as giving you a very clear complete look at the final game - it came closer than most, so that was nice.

All in all, thumbs very much in the up direction. Can't wait to get my hands on the final version. :)

OMFG - that is the most compelling thing i have ever played, it seems to be the first level / part of the first level.

The atmosphere is thick and rich, i played with my jaw agape for the whole time. Anyone who is reading this board and doesn't download is a muppet; this game is just awesome.

Yes. It is quite easy. You also use the D-Pad to navigate different tabs in the menu.

Also wow at the ferociousity of the enemies...the leadhead splicers are nuts! I set her on fire and she was still screaming and flailing at me...that really kinda freaked me out. Why? I dunno, I guess I was just expecting her to die. Didnt think any enemy AI could top HL2's but BIOSHOCK gives it a real good run for its money. Same for the physics and explosion kickbacks.

Speaking of which I got into a fight with a turret (that I wasnt expecting...so I actually jumped when the first bullet hit me. Walking around the environment instead of running really absorbs you...and is probably recommended since you can quickly be destroyed if you run up on something) and after it and my hacked bot exchanged a flurry of bullets...it destroyed my bot but was left very damaged in the process. So I stunned and hacked it. Then all of a sudden a splicer come dashing in and tries to hit me. Barely dodging the attack it hit the turret, which starting unloading on it. The splicer hit the turret again and then BOOM! It explodes and sends the splicer flying back, and damaging me in the blast. The splicer shakes off the blast and charges at me, at which point I incinerated it, then shot it twice with the revolver.

Seems like you're really gonna have to conserve ammo, save food items, and watch what you eat as well. MAN! The real game is going to be nuts.

I forgot one thing that bothers me but i hope you can change in the options is the health bar. i don't like to see it, it takes away from the suspense. That seems to be my only issue with this game and the demo. other then that HOT DAMN it looks great, i could play the game just to look at it.

I agree, i kocked soundeffects and music down to 80 so i could hear all the voices. Also the positional audio is a little too discrete for my tastes. Here's an example: before you get in the Bathysphere stand in front of the door and do a 360, the music from the radio looses considerable amount of volume as you turn around.... guess the air is different in rapture too so sound doesn't propogate normally :-)

lol I did that a few times. I also hit on that little sister shelter (you know the hole with the metal covering like on the trailer where the main character gets the drill bit through em). It actually echoes abit.

Eve is what you spend to use plasmids. Adam allows you to have more slots open for plasmids, and increase your Health/Eve bars. You don't have to worry about Adam in the demo.
