Hello!

I'm really looking forward to playing this game again, but alas I'm getting problems. The last time I had it running on another machine - of inferior specifications! First of all, my current specifications;

It's retail, bought out of Game.

-------------
The problem
-------------

I install the game, run the patch and all goes fine. I get the final page which gives two tick boxes, do i want to view the readme and do I want to launch the game now. I untick the readme option and click finish. The cursor shows the CD-rom style egg timer - by that I mean using a CD rotating to indicate it is working - the CD in the drawer spins up and then.... well, nothing. The game doesn't load and according to task manager the PC doesn't open the program at all.

-------------
What I've tried
-------------

I've tried uninstalling the game, reinstalling it.

I've tried it with my AV switched off (AVG V8).

I've ran Driver detective and confirmed all of my drivers on the PC are up to date. Ran all windows updates. ( I can probably provide driver versions etc but wont yet until asked for to avoid a war and peace post)

I noticed I have the realtec sound card which is often posted as being troublesome so I read up and It was suggested in one thread to edit the default configuation settings file in the release folder under [engine.engine] section to ";AudioDevice=FMODAudio.FMODAudioSubsystem
AudioDevice=D3DDrv.D3DAudioDevice"
I've done this, but this hasn't helped. I've restored the origonal.

I would really, really appreciate some help from a learned scollar! :D

Thanks in advance,

R

You and I are having the same paroblem. I haven't had a problem with the game since I bought it on dvd in october of 2007, until i tried to play the game this afternoon. No amount of reinstallation has any effect. I even bought another copy through steam and that does the same thing. So you're not the only one! hopefully someone will get back to us about this.

If you haven't already solved your problem, consider this. Have you recently installed a tablet (you know one of those things with a pen that you draw with in like photoshop?) that was what my problem was. Uninstall it and bioshock will work.

Princess, sorry it took me a while to reply, was in a car crash. (http://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/Article.aspx/1025610 - I was the dude in the vectra)

I've never installed anything for a tablet before to be honest. Once I get back home I'll go through reinstalling the OS I suppose. Anyone else got any ideas?

Thanks.
