I haven't been able to play at all on my new laptop [running vista on a sony vaio with pentium dual t2390 @ 1.88 GHz and 2G Memory.] Prior attempts at installation have all failed with error code -5006 : 0x80070017 when installing. Initially, called tech support and was told to delete temp folders/files and reinstall; also tried the installshield fix and desktop [folder] copy but nothing seems to be working.
ANYONE FAMILIAR WITH THIS PROBLEM OR KNOW HOW I CAN RESOLVE IT. I HAVEN'T PLAYED BTS AND THOUGH VANILLA AND WARLORDS ARE PLAYABLE I REALLY WANT TO PLAY BTS EXPANSION. PLEASE HELP ME, I HAVE SEARCHED EVERYWHERE I COULD THINK OF FOR SOLUTIONS!!!!

The 0x80070017 number means that a data verification check failed. I don't know anything about the installer, so I can't say if it's complaining about the installer's data or if it's complaining about the data on your hard drive.
The first thing I would do at this point is to run a disk check on your computer, to make sure that the hard drive's not having problems. To do this, bring up a My Computer window, right click on C: drive and hit Properties, then click the Error Checking button on the Tools tab. You will see two checkboxes on the Check Disk window, so check them both and start the scan.
This will take a long time (hours) during which your computer will be unusable, so you may want to kick it off overnight. The check will examine every part of your hard drive, repairing any data errors it can and searching for any physical errors.
After this, try installing again. If you still have problems, the issue could be in the installer itself. If you're installing from a CD, make sure that the bottom surface of the CD is clean and that there are no fingerprint marks. If that doesn't help, you may have a bad disc. If you're installing from a download of some sort, you may have a corrupt download. You'd need to download again to get a good copy of the installer.
I hope some of this helps.
