Like many others, I too have the problem where Bioshock closes at the splash screen when the game is loading. It closes with the Encountered Problem Error.
I have the Retail version.
PC
CPU :Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 @ 2.33Ghz
Windows Version :Windows XP SP3
Memory:3070MB RAM
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c
Graphics Card Name :Nvidia Geforce 8600 GT OC
Graphics Card Memory :510MB
Graphics Card Driver Date & Version :9/16/2008, 6.14.0011.7813
Sound Card Name:Realtek HD Audio output
Sound Card Driver Date & Version :10/2/2008, 5.10.0000.5713
I have tried re-installing many times, updated graphics drivers, mess around with Compatibility, put -nointro(Also, when I put -nointro in the target line after all that stuff, and try to load the game on that shortcut with it, it does not work), disabled shading in-game, patched.
