Can we determine if there's a crosshair option from these options screens? I'm aware that some would like there to be an option of this, and I'm wondering if there's a specific gameplay reason why the option wouldn't be implemented? I trust the developers whatever they decide to do with the crosshair, because we already know they're set out to make the best game possible, and it would be easy to execute the option anyways, it's only the HUD.

It's not in the screens provided, so the only other place it could be within the options is a possible, but improbable bind key, for the PC version anyhow.
In the end we may have to crank open the command console and remove it from the screen manually, if we prefer to go without it. I trust the crosshair is a seperate entity from the HUD. I wouldn't want to remove the whole HUD just to get rid of the xhair :(

im alittle confused as to what you intend to aim withI don't mind either way whether a crosshair is optional or not, some people have been wondering though and I'm curious. And what you would aim with without the crosshair is quite obvious, uh..., the center of the screen. There is a center to your screen, right? :p

the tv I use for gaming was made in the late 70's, so no, that was before centers where invented
Raveness: I could probably manage, I just dont like trying to eyeball it.

I guess it wouldn't be that hard. It would definitely make you think twice about trying to run'n'gun instead of thinking a situation out and using Plasmids. For the record, I beat Act I of Gears of War without pressingthe Left Trigger once. That's not an act of GoW Homeage, either.....I just didn't know you could use an aiming crosshair.

Yea guys, an aiming crosshair wouldn't be that important. Although, now that I have think about it, they haven't been clear at all about what they will do. Even in the gameplay demos, they have some with it, and some without it.
This is off topic, but does anyone find it weird that when you spell Bioshock on here, they don't have it as a word? It keeps underlining it in red. You would think that in this forum, they would have it in their dictionary.

I like the idea of games that have no crosshair, but you need to aim with iron-sights. Originally i thought it was lame, need a crosshair etc... but now, the idea is so intriguing. I just hope we have the option on the 360 version to take the crosshair off.
Erm, it's using a standard dictionary... Bioshock won't be in it.

most of the ones without crosshairs are earlier builds, they dont have HUDs either

They did that with Black. all the early build videos show no hud or crosshair. I got so used to the idea of having to rely on the environment for my information... and then bang, the slapped a hud on.
I'd love LOVE a game, where to work out how much ammo you have left, you have to pull the clip out, and either heft it, or examine it to check, aim via iron-sights or pray and spray, with a "call of duty 2" haze effect when you are injured, coupled with Call of Cthulhu's (Xbox version) "damage effects your interaction" system.

you might want to check out an older game called jurassic park: trespasser, theres no hud, she has to say how much ammo is left, and you have to look at a tatoo on her boob to find out how much health you have

I remember that game. You controlled hands with the mouse, rather than a crosshair. It was hell to aim, but yeah that is basically what i'd love in FPS games.
Breakdown, on the Xbox has something similar, where to get ammo from a gun, you press the button to bend down and strip the clip from the weapon. Why can't all games be like that?!

Is there any pertinent "quick info" on the crosshair, such as loaded weapon ammo bar, health bar, etc...?

Personally, I think in a game where headshots are important and every single bullet is precious, a crosshair is vital. Though since its been in previous screenshots, even if its turned off I'm sure there will be a simple console command or ini file change to turn it on :) Go go pc version :D

Im not saying I cant shoot but i think a crosshair could definitely help in certain instances.

Well Condemned also has that whole survival ammo check function. They dont have a hud to tell you how much ammo in a weapon is left, but you press Y (I think) to check the ammo count (clip, open shotgun, revovler barrel).

I would like a crosshair option, because sometimes I feel like I'm better at the game because I know FPS games, they always shoot from the same bottom-right corner of the screen and hit the middle. It isn't hard to judge where you'll shoot or throw a plasmid, but a crosshair obviously would'nt be bad. As long as it doesn't spread outward and take up some of the screen like in most military FPS like GRAW and Rainbow Six (the further outward it is, less accuracy you have).

also, because of how relativley close quarter the game is, I'll be able to handle without them after I get used to the mechanics
it would also add replayability to the game once you've beaten it on the hardest level.

I wish a developer would just confirm or deny this with some reasonable explanation. :(

I think Bioshock, seeing as how they are into options and stuff, will decide that they are going to make it an option. I believe that they will make it a preference decision for each player to set.

Yeah, yeah... I click on his profile when I notice he is on. :p
