Ok, first...
I just upgraded to a 260GTX from a 7900GTX. My SoundCard is a X-Fi Fatality and my CPU is a Q9450 w/2 gigs of DDR6400 Corsair RAM.
The only thing I changed was my graphics card.
It ran FINE with my 7900 GTX (albeit the framerate wasn't ultra high).
I upgraded to the 260 GTX and my framerate is smooth ... BUT... I get CONSTANT stuttering. It will run smooth then stutter over and over and then smooth, then stutter.
I get all sorts of pops and stutters now.
I DID NOT HAVE THESE with my 7900 GTX.
The 260 GTX runs Crysis at HIGH with NO PROBLEM. Smooth. Perfect. Flawless.
It runs many other things way better than my 7900 GTX. UT3 - GREAT.
But Bioshock, stutters, everywhere.
It is to the point that it is annoyingly unplayable now.
I lowered the resolution to 640x480 - still had the stuttering. I run at 1280x1024. Changing resolutions does not help. Nothing.
I'm using the 177.79 drivers. I don't get it. Please - is anyone else having this problem with 260/280 series cards or knows of a fix? The nice Nvidia logo pops up when I load the game - but nope, sure doesn't mean it is optimized, especially for these newer, more powerful cards.
I do not have hard drive accessing issues - it stutters when there is 0 access. I have tried everything possible to optimize the game. I've run driver sweeper, I've tried different versions of drivers. Nothing.
Please help.
