2k Lizzie would make an awesome leader. They should like have an exclusive community thing like the THemes/Gamerpics that is download pack with 2k Elizabeth and Sid Meirs as leaders and the ability to turn them being in the game or not.

I believe that George Washington should be the American Leader because of all that he did to form this nation. No hard feelings, Abe, but your military generals did the majority of the work while Washington was BOTH president AND the military general (during the most important war).

I agree. Washington should have been the leader of the Americans. But there is a strange fetish about the cult of Lincoln that I'll never understand. Washington is clearly the better man in every way imaginable.

I suspect that 2K opted for Abraham Lincoln because he's the most "politically correct" of the Greatest U.S. Presidents. Lincoln abolished slavery and preserved the Union from the secessionist Confederates, whereas Washington fought in the French and Indian War, so Lincoln is certainly the less "controversial" of the two.

It all depends whether those libraries and universities are built in Red or Blue States, because the United States is so politically polarized currently that Red states practically deify Dubya Bush -- despite his ~25% approval rating.

I wouldn't be surprised -- scratch that; I guarantee that in the years to come that schools in predominantly Red states will teach from a Dubya-friendly American History textbook whereas predominantly Blue states will teach from an anti-Dubya American History textbook; and the next generation of Americans will be indoctrinated with two opposing political ideologies. So perhaps in 20 years the neo-Dubya-lovers and neo-Dubya-haters will provoke a Second American Civil War.

Did you know...the French and Indian war was actually not against the Indians (for the most part). Instead it was Great Britain against the French.

I'm not sure that's true. The Civilopedia makes note that Lincoln protected the rights of northern slave owners and used the emancipation as propaganda to get the British on the side of the north seeing how it was a totally useless document until after the war was over. These are things most people avoid mentioning. The C'pedia makes no attempt to portray him in a perfect light. I'd think if they were trying to avoid PR issues with leaders they'd not put as many failings as they do. I respect them for that.

They don't seem to be hiding any flaws in these leaders instead putting mostly just facts. Great people aren't perfect people by any means. Look at poor Alexander. He died from being weak because he partied too hard! lol

And then... In left field... There's Gandhi... Maybe Mother Teresa will be the next India Civ Leader! :D

I made no mention of the Revolutionary War. My point about Washington was that his participation in the French and Indian War is considered "controversial" by historians and Native Americans.

And BTW, even if the primary goal of the British-American forces in the French and Indian War was to defeat the French in North America, the French's "Indian" allies lost far more than they did.
