hm. IN the demo the game starts juddering, but the full version never did. Are you playing on the PS3 or Xbox360? Maybe it's a problem of the PS-Blue Ray system. Cause the PS3 doesn't have enough buffer to make games fluid. Not every game, but many games are having that prob on the PS3

I am playing on the xbox 360, the original version of the console. It seems when my civilization gets too big the console freezes. There is no modifications/special about my xbox that would mean this should be isolated just to me.

Do you even know what that means Tobey?

Same here, i played for almost 3-4 hours on multiplayer (XBOX360) and then it suddenly froze. Its really frustrating because all those hours you've been playing get wasted....

agreed, where the heck did that statement come from Tobey...it has this little feature called a standard hard drive for buffering.....

yeah, i think i have now given up trying to play. the game freezes more times than i am able to finish it. until there is a patch of some sorts i don't think i can handle playing for 4hrs to have the game crash/freeze!

Umm... I hate to bring this up but I've had a lot of experience with 2k 360 Games.

Hold the "A" button while booting up the game or the console (I forget check google for exact instructions). This supposedly flushes the cache in the 360. I used to get similar problems all of the time with Oblivion and 2k Sports games but that usually fixed it.

I have cleared the cache which then allowed the update to download. My first game afterwards froze. Whats going on here?

It happens everytime I play as warlord and select to play the game of the week.

Syinner is correct in stating that the game freezes at approximately 4 hours on an original 20Gb hard drive X-Box. My X-Box 360 has frozen in two different games. The first time it happened I was annoyed, as I hadn't saved the game recently, but after about a minute of minimal DVD activity, the disc powered up again and the screen unfroze and the game continued on to Alpha Centauri. The second time it happened, I waited patiently, and was treated to an unusual rotation of the game map whilst the camera focussed on an AI unit, and then play continued normally.

I suggest the following work arounds:
1. save often
2. wait a minute or so to see if it unfreezes before powering off in disgust.

I have to say CivRev seems better behaved than GTA IV, BioShock and others who have all froze on my X-Box, without ever recovering without a re-boot.

Hope the American release is better then this....

I'm sure a Update will be out for this problem.

My first game of the full version of CivRev (PS3) was a multiplayer private game between 4 of us.
We started about 8pm, one of us lost connection about 10:45pm, (these things happen). The remaining three of us were left hanging an hour later (11:45, after 3 hours 45 of game) where the game just stopped, and we each just got message after message after message saying the game was waiting for the other two.
The odd thing is, all three of us were being told that it was waiting for the other two... In the end, we all bailed out.

I've played a mammoth 5.5 hour GOTW game (my first attempt at single player so I was taking eery move really slowly) and it failed to upload my score (no message, no confirmation, but definitely no upload), but I guess that's a separate issue...

This is disheartening but not a deal-breaker. If this is indeed a software problem, I'm pretty confident that 2K and Firaxis will patch it ASAP.

On another note, can we not turn this into a console-war flame thread? There's pretty much nothing more annoying than armchair-engineers. If you know the tech that well, go build the perfect console.

Since my separate thread was locked, I will post here.

I know for sure that the ingame Civilopedia is causing the game to freeze. So I'm asking the developers if it is possible to unlink the hot button used to enter Civilopedia as this would prevent entering it by accident and causing the game to freeze. I think activating the Civilopedia from the ingame menu would work just fine...

It can definitely be annoying when you accidentally press the triangle button one too many times and then the civpedia pops up. It hasnt caused my demo to crash, but its definitely annoying. I wouldn't mind seeing it removed from the triangle button and just having it be accessed from the menu.

I can narrow the complete freezing down to the GOTW and xbox. It would be great if someone in the know would let us know if this is being investigated/fixed?
