Hey people,I got this error code after Bioshock started crashing.I don't know what it means but it might be a clue to some people.
Crash happens around end of medical center/start of neptunes something.Black screen and message;

DIEmWin:Bioshock.exe-Application error
The exception unknown software exception(0xc0000005)
occured in the application at location 0x7724b867
Click ok to terminate the program

As I try to play more it crashes more, now to the point where it crashes loading neptunes something(cant remember name of it).Normally crash is "Bioshock.exe has stopped working etc..." but once it gave me this code.Also,crashes/wierdness first started happening in medical center when on way back met big daddy and little sister for first time. After fight with big daddy got "frying food"sound every time I moved fwd, back or moved mouse.
I have latest drivers for everything,Dx9c august 07,background stuff turned off,no overclocking, good cooling.

P4D 3.6Ghz
2GB Mushkin XP2 5300 DDR2 667
Intel D975 XBXLKR mainboard(latest bios) with Sigmatel high def. onboard audio.
WD Raptor 150GB 10,000 RPM
Saphire Radeon X1950Pro(2 of) crossfire mode
Enermax infinity 720W PSU
Vista ultimate 64 bit right up to date.

Try running the game in DX9 mode. To do this right click on the game shortcut and choose run in DX9. If you do not have a shortcut click start and choose games. In the games window that opens there will be a Bioshock icon.

I think I am already running in Dx9 mode because:
1: The dx 10 option in game graphics setting is greyed out and
2: The manufacturers specs page says it only supports dx9,see this page

Even though the option is greyed in game out Vista may still be running the game in DX10.

The only way to know that it is definitly running in DX9 mode is to run is to run it in DX9 mode.

Hey Tech John,
I Did what you said and game has played now for almost an hour and no crash.Going to bed now, will play more tomorrow and let you know how it goes.
P.S. Am I losing any graphics "niceness" using Dx9?The fog and smoke was not as good methinks.
Thanks(i hope)

With it working for a hour with no crash is a good sign. It should not affect the game that much. The DX10 parts of the game are only small textures and usually not noticeable.
