When I start up Bioshock, the mouse cursor wont move!
As soon as I minimize it or something, the mouse works fine. It only doesn't work in Bioshock. I tried unplugging and re-plugging in my mouse, but no success.
Help! I am anxious to play!

There is some sort of issue with mouse exceleration in BioShock. I'm not exactly sure what that is though. Sorry.

Can you see a mouse cursor on the screen or is it not present?

If the mouse is not reponding at all there might be some conflict with some background software. Please try:

MSCONFIG

- Click on the start menu
- Click on run (if you are using Vista, press the Windows key and the R key at the same time)
- Type in the following MSCONFIG
- Click on the startup tab
- Deselect all the tick boxes
- Click on apply and then close
- Restart your computer
- When your computer starts up again, please ignore any messages from msconfig (do not close these)
- Please uninstall the game and reinstall
- Run the game

To return to the original startup sequence follow below instructions

- Click start menu
- Click run
- Type in the following MSCONFIG
- Click on normal startup
- Click on apply and then close
- Restart your computer

Before opening BioShock, have the task manager open. Alt + Tab to it when you have BioShock open, go to Performance tab and see what is under CPU usage and PF usage.

My guess is you have a lower than spec RAM, so you probably should post your specs too.

I have a Pentium 4 3.00GHz HT processor
1 Gb of RAM
(Dont laugh, the graphics work fine) ATI Radeon x300.
Logitec optical mouse (About 8 years old)
70 GB SATA Hard drive

The x300 is below the minimum requirements, which was why I was asking if you could see a cursor on the game. Are you sure you don't mean the x1300?

You actually have a more outdated graphics card than I. That in and of itself could, and probably is the culprit.

Im 100% sure its a x300.
I installed the 2.0 shader mod, and it worked kidna fine before. I couldnt see the half of the textures, but it worked. And The mouse showed up and worked before I re-installed windows.

You need shader model 3.0 for BioShock.

The 2.0 modification you mention is not a game implement and the problems may be caused by any third party modification you have come across. You will need to use hardware that meets the minimum requirements.

Eh, if I didn't explain it already, there is a mod that allows Shader 2.0 graphic cards to play it.

If I have to explain it again, I will go crazy. It was working before, WITH the shader 2.0 modification.

When your graphics card meets the requirements, it takes a weight of the systems RAM. Seeing as your graphics card isn't pulling its weight, it is putting the stress onto the RAM. And seeing as you just make the minimum, the game isn't supporting it.

Even though you are using a 3rd party mod to run the game with a pixelshder 2.0 card it is still unsupported. The mod was not released by 2K and even though it may work for other people, it may cause instabilaties with the original game. Unfortunately you do not meet the official requirements to run the game.
