Game Rules
Each player must settle in place. For the first 25 turns, each player will work only gold. After 25 turns (the turn you get your 100g settler) you play as normal. No Oxford. If something weird happens in the first 25 turns then restart. An example could be an AI walking in on your cap or camping one of your tiles.

Tourney Info
6 participant round robin style. This group will be for USA time zone players only. Please see the other group for Europe and Asia-Pacific time zones. Play each player twice. Each civilization may only be used once. Top 2 players advance to a best of 5 final with a reset civilization selection. H2H record will determine ties. Otherwise, a 1 game playoff will determine who advances (playoff civilization selection counts towards final series). The winner of the USA group will face the winner of the World group to crown a final champion (civ selection resets again).

Civ Selection
Arabia
England
France
Germany
India (restart if there are not 2 normal sea tiles)
Mongolia
Rome
Russia
Spain
Zulu

Can NOT play
America – Overpowed.
Chinese – Overpowed.
Aztec – They start with gold so they will get 100g faster which messes up everything.
Japan – Sea tiles provide growth which messes up everything.
Greece - Demo provides 50% trade.
Egypt - HGB and CoR would mess things up.

I would play but I'm not so sure if I like the rules. Plus I think Spain and Arabs are overpowered for this type of game... I don't think the Zulu will do so well.

zulu have a huge advantage actually.....barbs dont give you the guaranteed win anymore and the impi army overrun would be huge in a game like this where you start with 100g and dont need to tech better units.....you wont get as many caps....but most civs will still have a warrior in their cap when you meet them because they usually wont have met you yet...o maybe you will

The only one that might hold it up is me as I won't be able to play for the next week and a half. If we get 6 people without me I'm fine with sitting out. I will still be able to check the forums and update tourney status.

Depends where you are and where the AI is. They may have sucked up most of the gold already it depends...

I just want to clarify that all participants should be able to play during normal US evening hours at least 2-3 days a week. If you don't meet this criteria, you're out. Sorry.

If there is room I guess I will join, I don't think Duke should be disqualified for going on vacation. Taking one of the better players out of the America pool seems like an unwise decision if we are trying to show those EU people who is boss IMO :D I think we should just play him when he gets back, I have a feeling they may take a while anyways...

So far I have Grizz, Packrat, MPB, and Denied in. If I remember right Chug and Glenn have had some scheduling issues in the past so unless they can confirm they can play 3 nights a week during US evenings I am not adding them. I would like to play but if we get 6 players who can start right away I can sit out.

I think we have 5 in each group so we could always do a 5 player round robin and just take out the 2 best civs (Spain and Arabs I think)

Count me in. I think I have been able to get my games done in previous tournaments rather timely.

The only scheduling conflicts I have had are with those overseas who time schedule is far different. (Even though I am addicted to CIV, I am not setting my alarm for 3am to play.) I have no problem getting on most evenings and/or weekends US time zones.

Ok, works for me as there will be no overseas players in this group!

I think Arabs and Spain should be removed anyways to be honest, though I'm not sure how it would work...

I've had one occasion where I had scheduling issues. And it went on for 2 weeks. I had previously finished 7 of the 10 games in that tourney within the first 2 days of its inception. I've played several tourneys on this site over the past 2 years and have never had any problems. I will say tho that if ITZ Denied is in this tourney, count me out.
