Just finished the first level, after that it starts loading Neptune Bounty but when the game tries to save I get an error message from Windows "Bioshock.exe has stopped working" and crashes back to the desktop.

I'm running almost the exact same system (q6600, ASUS motherboard, 4GB RAM, eVGA 8800GTS, etc.) as you with no problems. However, there are a couple notable exceptions...
1. You're using Realtek integrated audio while I'm using a SoundBlaster X-Fi Xtremegamer sound card.
2. I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit while you're on Ultimate 64.
My first guess would be the Realtek audio drivers. It was reported on here quite a few times that the latest drivers (available from Realtek directly) have fixed similar crashing issues. You'll probably want to give those a go if you haven't already. Not sure of their availability for 64-bit Vista though. Which brings me to the reason why I didn't choose it as my OS... infancy of 64-bit Windows in the marketplace. Although it might sound a tad extreme, is there any chance you can get a 32-bit OS (either XP or Vista) up on that box?

The problem consists not only in Bioshock, basically every game I run seems to be experiencing the same problem. On both 64 bits boxes I have running. 32bits Window it is then, this thread can be locked :) Thanks for the help.
