I was wondering, what was the first Video Game you played? I remember when I was about 4-5, the first game I played was Croc: Legend of the Gobbos (Funnily, I installed on this computer just yesterday, good times).

Strange thing was, Level 4 is a boss (An Athletic Duck to describe him) and back then I was absolutely petrified of him. Seriously, the moment the Duck came running at me I was freaked..but that was back then..

The Second game I played at that same age was Jazz Jackrabbit 2 (Got it installed on this PC aswell) and the Third was Gubble: Zymbot Quest (Some Purple Alien trying to unscrew all the scews on a planet..had lots of levels).

So what's your first game you played?

Hello,
Just a bit older I am. First game was on the original "Pong". First console game was "Adventure" for the original Atari. Fav console sysem was a tie between the Turbographix 16 and the Neo Geo.
:D O.k. , maybe a little more than a "bit" older.

I know it would have been a Commodore 64 game... I think it probably was Midnight Resistance (http://www.ysrnry.co.uk/articles/midnightresistance.htm). A side scrolling shooter. I loved it. Would have only been about 5 at the time too :P

the first ones I played were all on the good old c64-

C.A.B.A.L which was a bit like time crisis with a single screen and enemies popping out all over the shop and the keyboard controlling the cross-hair

ACE- a ridiculously hard flying game that usually took two people just to take off

and my personal favourite was a game called DIZZY's adventure...or something like that...where you had to control an egg with arms and legs, a kind of platform puzzle adventure.

If there's one thing I don't miss about that console is the epileptic-fit inducing loading screens and the cassettes that would get chewed up all the time.....ahh happy memories...

Well, I think I might win this one on the "old geezer" front.

My dad worked for Bell Labs. When I was four or five, he brought home a "computer" from work. It was the size of a large suitcase, and had a printer that put out text (no monitor... this was somewhere around 1975-76). He brought the computer home not to work, but to play one of the original textual adventure games (Scott Adams' game? not quite sure about that). We spent hours in the kitchen with this ridiculous machine, exploring, fighting monsters, finding stuff, etc.

Then Pong, and then after a while the Atari 2600, and the TRS-80 Color Computer a couple years after that.

Good times indeed.

I think the first game I ever plaid was Spindoctor for Mac. About the same time I played Marathon and Abuse aswell, and I can't remember wich one was the first. Machines, Silver and Starcraft was probably among the first ones, too.

Hmmm, first game ever...was a while back ;)

Twas "Fire Ant" on the Commodore +4, basically you were the last ant of your colony and you had to rescue your queen from the evil invading scorpions!?!?!?!? You may well say WTF, but it was a bloody good puzzle game.

First console game was Alex the Kid in Wonder Land on the Master System II.

First PC game was X.COM Terror from the Deep (I don't count Solitaire + Minesweeper).

I was still pouring quarters into a machine when i discovered the $89. nintendo at Kmart.
Playing my own copy of Super Mario Bros exposed me to the hidden areas and the depth that some of these games could have.

Then came the first Zelda. I was hooked. Solomon's Key was very good.

The $300 Amiga was a leap forward. The Bards Tale and the ground breaking Dungeon Master. What a great machine. In 87 or 88, the entire platform self destructed.

Reluctantly I moved to PC. Three times the cost and a big step backwards.

I am embarrassed to admit that I helped build the game industry by buying so many ☺☺☺☺ty games. case in point http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTfCi59KCx8
(previously posted on another thread.)

Things slowly got better. The Ultima series, Doom, SimCity and of course System Shock one and two and finally the launch of the MMPRPG's

Youtube is great if you have nostalgia for dead games.

So what's your first game you played?

wwwwow. i remember when 8-bit nintendo came out, that was a big day for us kids. but i had already played atari 7200 and 2600, intellivision, and older pc games, like q-bert in monochrome, hangman, and 3demon, but i came into this world five years after pong had been released, sadly never to play it with the knob controller.

the first game i remember clearly playing and being drawn into was zork. the older boys were very excited, enraptured even, with this new tech and new use for it... to play! it was very infectious, and as a small child i had been exposed. hahaha then castle wolfenstein. when i saw these worlds, i was hooked. i even wrote my own text adventure games on my parent's vic20 (tape drive, baby!) and commodore64 (basic!). the first games to draw me into a world not-my-own were 'king's quest' by sierra, the first game to really play like a true game to me was sid meier's 'pirates!', and the first time i really had my mind blown was by 'out of this world'. my first fps was wolfenstein 3d, which was also the first game that scared me. the first game to make me cry for the drama of it, 'final fantasy vii'.
