Wow love the new setting, The most impressive thing about it is that it still feels like Bioshock, but that feeling I had when I first saw Bioshock, the sense of awe and wonder as you made your first swim to the lighthouse. Bravo Irrational. (Love the title of your studio by the way, I hated hearing you guys switch it to just another boring 2k name.)

I totally agree.

I think leaving Rapture for a new environment and setting will bring back my original feelings from when I first played the original. Leaving the dark, murky underwater setting to go to the sky where there is more light (at least in the trailer) will be a fresh chapter for the franchise.

Hopefully this turns out to be as colossal as the first BioShock.

I must agree with both of you. I am feeling the same excitement I felt about the first two games. They've taken something that was already wonderful and expanded upon it, creating a totally new experience for us fans. It's a long ways away, but I'll be keeping a close eye on it the whole time.

Yeah, I really hope there will be a renaissance of creative, colorful, vibrant worlds in videogames, with games like Bioshock Infinite leading the charge. The art direction for this game is simply fantastic from what I've seen thus far.

My steampunk loving sensors went off the deep end watching the trailer. I can't wait to see more about it, especially if it's going to be as "pretty" looking as it appears it will. I'm very, very excited for this game now.

I have to say, I am completely taken back, I REALLY didn't expect to see another Bioshock game. As usual Irrational pulls the rug out from under me and even though I have a concussion I am still happy as hell. The steam punk, city in the clouds setting is really spectacular and I can't wait to see more. Also I want to congratulate Irrational on this new project and wish them all luck. Not that they need it but they've been so good to us fans with this website and the games they make, that they really deserve a pat on the back for it.

So do you guys think they'll still have audio recordings to help flesh out the story and background info behind Columbia? Because Rapture had already collapsed whereas it seems like you're in the middle of Columbia's downfall, so I'm wondering if there will be a more straightforward approach to the storytelling. Anyways, I'm looking forward to how they take the gameplay elements of the first game and expand on them.

I really hope they keep the look of the game as it is...an open, bright, pristine world can instill as much awe as the murky darkness of Rapture did. Here's hoping everything turns out for the best! (although, honestly, this game couldn't be in better hands)

I think they'll need to get creative with this storytelling considering the game takes place in 1912.

As for the gameplay elements...you bet they'll stick to 'starve the player' mentality they've always brought into their titles. Pure speculation on my part but it seems to be a constant theme throughout their titles and Ken himself has addressed it quite a few times.

Shouldn't this be called Skyshock? Or maybe even Airshock? Or something along those lines?

Regardless of its title, great trailer. I will be looking forward to this.

Very true on your first point, didn't think about that. As for the gameplay I can understand that approach, but it seems like there will be more tools at your disposal this time around, at least within the confines of that 'starve the player' mentality. Hearing how you can use a telekinesis power to take someone's shotgun and use it on them sounds particularly cool.

How is it possible this game has me gripped so much, even though only 1 teeny bit of information was released.

Same goes with bioshock 1 and 2.

As much as this seems like a huge leap off the beaten path, I have to say that im really looking forward to something new. With the new setting there are literally millions of possible directions this story can take us and that excites me. Hopefully they can embody the same shocking/fearful feelings we got the first time we entered rapture. Looking forward to it!

I'm not sure how I feel about this one

When I first saw the name Bioshock and the fact it was associated with Irriational and Levine, I sat with my mouth open for a moment. I'm not 100% sure how I feel about the title but there obviously hasn't been a whole hell of a lot revealed about the game yet. I'm patient and refuse to sound like and old school X-Com fan. I imagine that game will be fantastic.

They might tell the story a new way...but if they are planning that approach, I too wonder what they would use.

Perhaps the character will find letters and you'll either hear him read it or hear a disembodied voice of the person who wrote it, haha.

I honestly have no idea how it'll all work out, and I'm not even sure how they'll tell the story this time around.

I know people are talking about steampunk and this ... I'm not sure if the fit is really that great. Steampunk is more Victorian/Edwardian England, at least in my mind. Also, has anyone ever played Arcanum? Now there's a steampunk game - it even has a zeppelin as a main plot device! Though you never get to ride it in-game.

I think from what we've seen and what we know of Bioshock it's safe to bet there's going to be some major Steampunk....too much technology and 1912 is still enough turn of the century that things can still be crafted around steam power legitimately - which is awesome. Steam powered turrets here I come!

I'm looking forward to seeing what they do, how much they stick to the aesthetic we've seen and whether they get really fantastic with it or keep it grounded.

Steampunk isn't just periodization - it's a whole aesthetic, and I feel like the American exceptionalism/bright, clean outdoors doesn't really lend itself to that aesthetic. Some of the imagery will be the same, but steampunk is a particular spin on that era and that imagery. The Columbian exposition would not, to me, come anywhere near steampunk, and that's looking to be one of the major sources for the game.
