Hello, well, I`m a new plyer to the Civilization series, I started with Civ 5 and well, I love it. In the meantime, I started reading about Civ IV and I got interested in it, because people said its way better than Civ 5, with much more mechanics and such.
So, I downloaded the game to test it and to see if it deserves my money (I bought Civ V because of the demo on Steam). The problem is, I can`t understand most of the mechanics in Civ IV, things like how Wealth works (can`t buy tiles, units) and how to administrate it (Research VS Espionage), the difference of the resources (bonus, strategic and luxury, if it has a difference between Horses and Stone, per exemple), great people, religion and how it expands to the other cities (I could understand it in the begining, like, I can see what a other city is doing if I "command" the religion, a nice strategic feature), and most of all, the combat, things like how stacks work and how ranged weapons works (for my archer to shot, it has to be in melee distance?).
I read some of the things "new" to the game on the Civilopedia (Religion, Corporations, this nice conceps donīt exist in Civ V), but the thing that bothers me its the interface, it`s confusing to me. On Civ V I could understand most of the mechanics just because of the interface, i think it`s more organized, I dont know, streamlined perhaps. And a tutorial, I hate hand holding in games, but please, just explain how things work, for exemple, I didnt knew about how Health worked, I had to try a number of things to undestand it and I have a feeling that I`m doing something wrong (I just stop the growing of my cities until I can build a Aquaduct, or something similar, let it grow some more, and it stop it again when Health/Happiness = Unhealth/Unhappiness). Ohh, and, is there a way that the game can notify me about when my city grow, like "Rome has a new citizen"? (Romans fanboy here : D)
I really want to play Civ IV, hell, even buy it on Steam just for the multiplayer (Civ V multiplayer sucks, big time, no animations and lags) and to play with my friends.
So, could you guys help me. Just explain some of these thing, like, how combat works, stacks of doom works, how I can administrate my Wealth (or Gold) and how to administrate my cities (when to grow, when to build Great Persons, etc), how religion and corporations expand (things like, State Property Civic does not let Corporations in my cities, right?) how can I negotiate with the other civs (tried clicking on their cities, didnt worked xD) and how espionage works (I found the Espionage Interface, but count figure it out).
I would apreciate a link to some tutorials on the internet or a map that explains it, anything, most important, the confusing (to me at least) interface...until then, I ll stay with Civ V, I know I may be wrong, Civ IV may be a great game for me, but I need to understand it first (my friends are going to play it with me, but I need to explain to them how to play).
Thanks to any help :D
:::EDIT:::
I reinstalled the game and magically, a button appeared, saying "Tutorial" : /
Damn bugs.
