Ships in razed coastal cities

What happens to a ship sitting in a coastal city once it burns to the ground? Does the ship get kicked out to sea, or does it disappear?

Don't know, I always clear any units from a city being razed, just in case. Why don't you try it and see?

To be honest, I have wondered this myself sometimes. It has been my intention to test it, but I always forget it the next turn. If you are so keen to know this, why dont you test it yourself? Remember to tell us what the outcome was if you do. :)

You could have actually tried it for yourself, and then double checked, in the time you're expecting everybody else to know the answer for you. Stop being lazy, get out there and find out for us yourself.

They sit there in land until you move it. The game doesn't force you to move it. What I wonder now is if you build a city one tile over if the ship can go further inland.

They tend to go into the next available city. That is totally random and the ship can end up in an inland city and thus trapped. It has happened to me a couple of times and probably this is a bug of some sort.

I once captured a city, selected the "Raze" city option, then docked one of the sieging ships in it to heal. I promptly forgot about the ship and the city burned to the ground three turns later. My ship was gone. I discovered it the next turn waiting for orders docked in another city. I have also seen ships completely disappear from self-Razed cities...never to be seen again.
