Hello guys!
I read the forum for a while and i didn't find the answer for my question.
Here is the problem : I play at Civ 5 with my friends (we are 3 and we put 5 AI).
We save the game but eachtime we want to load it to continue, one of us has a runtime error on Direct X 11.
And it apply only in multiplayer.
Someone has a solution?
Thanks!

You have to host a game and then in the game lobby there is a load game option at the bottom of the screen. I didn't see it as well the first time and it took me ages to figure out how to load a game but then felt stupid as I saw the fairly obvious load game.. button :)

We saw the button -_-
We succeed to launch the loaded game, but after it crashes (runtime error DirectX11)

Try updating the graphics drivers, do you get the same error in SP games or only MP? Try to lower the graphics settings too just in case they are set too high for your card. Sometimes between turns we do get the loading screen and the game seems frozen but it comes back if you give it a couple of mins. No direct x errors over here though

It's not a graphic problem because :
-If it was a graphic problem, we would have it before the save.
-Each time it was the host who had the problem (and we have 4 differents pcs with different items, with 4 differents configuration, so the configuration or the drivers are not the problem).
-In one player game, we have no problem at all.
-We try to switch in DirectX 9 but we always have the problem (but we didn't if it's a runtime error directX 9).
-We have this error only when we load a multiplayer game (and we have already reinstall the game, check the files and so on...)
If you have an other idea i which i could hear it :s

Probably you need to test a bit more, start a new MP game play some turns and then save. Then try to load that new saved game, where do you get the error? during launching or earlier? can you all join the lobby normally? try to do the same with two players instead of 4 and any AIs you wish or no AIs. In general try to load any MP saved game by tampering with the configuration and see from there what causes the problem e.g number of players, map, AIs etc. Could be one of the 4 PCs that causes this irrespective of the host PC so try excluding one each time.

Already tried. We save after 3 turns, we create the game again, we join the lobby, we launch the game and after we got the problem during the loading.
And we have already tried at 2,3 and 4 players (but always with AI). We will try without AI.

We will try to launch at 3 a couple of time, we will see.
Thanks for the idea ;)
Have you tried loading and using an Autosave as a workaround (so to speak)? Admittedly it may be a few turns or so behind, but if it works at least you'll have a useable save. Prior to this latest patch that focused on MP, I found myself having to do rely on the Autosave more often than not as compared to a 'manual' save. (Haven't tried resuming a saved MP game since said patch to date.)
This does also presume you have that the Autosave feature enabled, but if I recall correctly it is by default...

For the Autosave : we tried it until 20 or 30 turns before and always the same result : Bug :s

I've run in to the same problem. as the OP. strange thing is that up until a few months ago, i had no problem loading MP games.
We tried everything suggested here, loading autosaves, running in dx9, starting a new game (with and with out AI), MP games with different steam friends.
I'm thinking it must be some component, that gets updatede on a regular basis, seeing that it used to work. Going to try and update C++ and directX. if that does not work, i'm lost.
Any help woudt be mutch appreciated

Me and my friend have the same problem. We have tried validating files, running in diffferent dx modes, uppdated all known drivers etc. We can run a mp game with no problems, but we are unable to load a mp map no matter what we try.
Anybody got a fix?

We have exactly the same problem. Single Player works without problems.
We have tried it with 4 players with 4 different pcs to host the Multiplayer games and load a savegame. It crashes even if we try to start the savegame alone(with mp modus), without any other players. We also tried to load older savegames. There are no mods loaded and we tried it with and without DLCs. Don't works at all.
Nothing works. It crashes every time.
Some help would be appreciated.

Reinstalling/reverting to the version of directX and C++ that came with the game
(the installer exe files can be found in you steam/civ 5 folder) solved the problem for me.
Remember to do it on all the pc's who are joining the MP game

It's vcredist_x86.exe for the C++ (reinstalling now...)

Same here. A few of my buddies and I are trying to load our saved game to continue playing. We've done everything (at least we think) to get it to work. We've tried doing that auto-save thing, putting it to the steam cloud, to making a new game playing for a bit with a new host and still it will NOT work. We have been trying for the past 2 hours to get it to work with no success!!!!!!!!!

This may have worked for whatever problem you encountered before, but since the May 15th Steam client update, multiplayer games can not be played from saved games anymore.

Save your energy, the only way you'll be able to load and play your multiplayer game is by reverting to a previous version of Steam if you have one laying around on another PC, or by waiting for Valve or 2K to fix the incompatibility that has arisen with the latest Steam client update.

The entire civ community is having this issue since the may 15th steam update. No saved games will load at all. I'm from a group of 700 members based on civ multi-player and everyone is experiencing the same problem. It is obviously a steam issue but does anyone have any idea how we can put pressure on them to fix it other than sending e-mails that get responded to 3 weeks later???

Have every one of your 700 member group put in a support ticket to 2K support. The squeaky wheel gets the oil on this one. 10 or 15 people say there's a problem they may go "Meh. We'll get to it". 700 people plus put in the same problem then I would make an assumption that a red light goes off somewhere and the response is "Oh crap. We're trying to sell the next expansion and this is broke. Let's fix this ASAP!!!".

Great point Slutpuff. I've been encouraging everyone to call y2k as well as place ticket with steam. Problem is not everyone takes initiative:( Phone # for y2k games: 1-866-219-9839

Placed a call and the person I talked to said they would investigate it ASAP (standard company line but hey...they were very nice about it).
Incidentally I took a trip to my parents house since I play there occasionally on their computer. With a steam client from last weekend (pre-May 15th) guess what worked...Multiplayer saves. So there's absolutely no DOUBT in my mind that the May 15th steam client update broke multiplayer in Civ 5. Hopefully they will quickly address this issue!

On the Steam Forums (Civ V thread), a representative from Valve has responded by saying:
Valve by BurtonJ:
"We are investigating a possible Steam issue that would impact games using our peer-to-peer APIs for multiplayer.
I will post an update as soon as I have more information."
That was posted at 11:23 AM today. Hopefully this will help get things resolved.

There was a steam update late today which appears to have fixed the problems for MultiPlayer. Have tested the game with 6 player out to Turn 63 and others have tested the ReLoad capability of the game. All appears to be working again.

sounds like a frozen game, try reloading a previous turn from your autosaves otherwise start a new game and test again.

I also have been unable to load any multiplayer games. My gf and I have been tirelessly trying to play games together, and we've just been restarting from scratch over and over again. One of us always ends up getting disconnected around turn 30-60.
We have tried loading save games, autosaves, and moving save games into autosave and loading that way. None of that was worked thus far. She (the host) ends up in the game with full AI players and I am stuck at the loading screen with Atlas. Could it be that I need to open some ports/take down firewalls to receive the savegame file she is loading?

Having the same problem. Able to play a MP game with no problem what so ever, but trying to load and continue a MP causes it to crash for one player constantly. Happening with and without the G&K expansion.

I'll try to be as specific as possible... beware, a wall of text is about to strike.
Back when the game was in discount, -75%, I bought the GOTY version as a gift for a friend of mine. We were able to play multiplayer games just fine. I could start the game, host it, I could save and load the games as many times as I wanted. The friend could also host games and load saves initially.
Then, at some point, things went wrong. I could no longer load any multiplayer savegames. They worked correctly all the way to the lobby, but from there, it just didn't work. Sometimes it was just the friend crashing to desktop, sometimes we both crashed to desktop.
However, my friend could still host games, even though his connection is far from ideal; it's a very, VERY slow mobile connection. (It worked flawlessly before, as explained in the first chapter, so that's not the problem.)
As of now, I can START the game and the friend of mine can join that game. It works smoothly, no disconnections or any kind of problems. However it only works for that ONE session. If we plan a long game, then go to sleep and try to continue, it's hopeless. We can't get the savegame loaded if I'm hosting it. Transferring the save originally hosted by myself to friend's computer doesn't work either; in that case we both crash to desktop.
Network types used shouldn't be an issue either. I'm usually behind NAT that I can fully manage myself, but initially, after I bought the game to that friend, it worked fine. We were BOTH behind NATs. That was no issue. Now it doesn't work even if we both had our NATs bypassed.
I'm also curious if the issue is somehow related to one file getting repeatedly "broken". Verify the integrity to fix the game client, then start the launcher, and verify again... and there's one file to download. Is this the culprit? Does it cause some kind of version mismatch that only affects later game sessions when we're trying to load a savegame?
