Kept achievements but not the fame points

Maybe I'm seeing it wrong, but it looks like I kept all achievements and not the fame points that came with them from a previous game ... this means that when I accomplish the achievement again in the new game, I don't get any fame points as it thinks I already completed the achievement and received the fame points for it. That way, there's NO chance whatsoever to ever win a game or even end in the top 50 when it's all said and done. I even barely get promoted within my civilization as others who are playing for the first time are getting fame points out the yin yang. Somehow this is not right. If I can't move up, get points or get promoted, where's the incentive to play? :(

Fame points have nothing to do with promotions. You're getting promoted based on medals and contests won, not the fame points.

I don't follow the fame/medal count too closely.

But what I think he is trying to say, on certain achievements, he gains fame points in that current game.

In the next NEW game, he can no longer get those same achievements... where others can, so he can not get as many fame points as others can.

(I would not think it works that way - but I never paid attention too closely to tell you how it works....
