Hey everyone,

I just received some excellent news to share with you all: Duke Nukem Forever will begin preloading on Steam today at 10am PDT (http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=June+7+2011+10am+pdt).

So be sure to fire up Steam and let it download the game sometime before release, that way you'll be able to be killing pigcops the moment it unlocks (well, minus the time it takes to decrypt of course).

Hi Greg - I haven't used a preload before. I'm curious about how it works. I have pre-ordered the game from my local EB Games. Can I still preload it on Steam?

No, to pre-load you would need to have the key already registered with Steam, so this applies to people who pre-ordered on Steam.

If you get a retail box you'll be installing off of a DVD anyway though :)

Ah yes, that makes sense. I just figured that since it was a Steam game, there might be some way for those who are buying retail to even save themselves the install off disc time and preload it off Steam ;)

other way around for me, I hope it installs off the disc, as my internet here kinda sucks. Don't have a choice really.

You can install off the disc - just make sure you install it first before putting in your Steam code (which can trigger a download, which you won't want).

You can also drop it into your steam directory and "verify" cache and it will then work.
