...could you have inherited a more loyal set of fans?

In many ways I'm kind of irritated reading about the first access club getting the Demo first, must suck waiting 15 years and some young dude who just happens to buy the right game gets the demo of the game before you.....

Do I think maybe it wouldn't be too much to ask for Gearbox to remove head from dark place and offer a little payback to the loyal Duke fans with a bloody demo now the game has gone gold?

☺☺☺☺ I have been waiting since the Dec-Jan edition of PC Gamer UK in 1997..... really, and no I don't bloody have first access and I do want the demo :)

Maybe a little ill considered policy given this games rather interesting, colorful, weird, curious, bizarre and LONG - ill say LONG again to get the point over- development.

Sure the wait is almost over but really, I want it over now, I don't care if its just one little map with five pig cops, GIVE us the demo, please, for the love of god!!!

Wouldn't a truly loyal fan have pre-ordered the game and therefore be in the First Access club?

I can understand your desire to have the demo immediately, but early demo access was promised to the club. And those people put their money where their loyalty was. ;)

The full game will be out before you know it!

In an ideal world yes, but since I have no access to preorder from where I live at the moment, its going to be a little difficult. Now assuming I lived in my Native UK then i' m sure I would have, but I don't, and there's no way for me to do so right now, im probably going to have to wait to get the game and have someone bring it over from the UK or US.

As for you "putting their money where their loyalty is" the statement really just sound smug and presumptuous and something a very spoiled child would say, cant say I respect it much because I live in the REAL world and im afraid the real world doesnt always work how you might like....

Hmm scrap that, just discovered the game is Steam only apparently which means I will never buy it.

RIP 3DRealms, thanks for the memories :)

what's so wrong with steam?

Steam is a system designed to restrict, choke and control gaming. Another anti-piracy born measure which cares nothing about gamers and only about money and I wont give it a penny.

Digital sales are better handled by other companies, D2D and many other companies do not require you to live, breathe, eat inside their application. You can, as is correct, buy your game and play it as and when you please. Steam is the same kind of sickness that brought us the 1 game 1 installation failure....and guess which company was involved in that?

Its a sickness called greed, people can buy it if they want, I do not and will not every contribute to Steam and I make it abundantly clear that I want Steam to fail and vanish absolutely.

Take heed from the developers of The Witcher 2 who went DRM free and the very limited DRM they placed on some versions of the game in the first week of release (now removed by patch) crippled game performance as do ALL DRMs. Run a Steam version or Steamworks version of a game vs a game without the virus in it and the difference is there to see. Besides which, why should I be bound to connect to Steampile and play only with their permission at their convenience? Not going to happen, Ill wait for a non Steam version or I just wont touch it.

There's a thread to discuss Steam here (http://forums.2kgames.com/showthread.php?104546-Duke-Nukem-Forever-and-Steamworks!/page8). Let's try to keep this one from going off topic or the content from being disrespectful please. Thanks.

Steam is designed to be the most unrestrictive form of online DRM out there. And it goes out of its way to do so. Don't knock something that's doing a good thing with a bad situation.

EDIT: Sorry, just noticed the stay on topic note.
