What is your favorite line by Andrew Ryan at any point in the game? Personally I like the whole conversation right before he is about to destroy rapture and ends with. "There is a time to live, and a time to die. A time to build. AND A TIME TO DESTROY!" Than selfdestruct is activated.

"Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his brow?"

"No!" Says the man in Washington, "It Belongs to the poor."
"No!" Says the man in The Vatican, "It belongs to God."
"No!" Says the man in Moscow, "It belongs to everyone!"

"I rejected those answers.

Instead, I chose something different. I chose the impossible. I chose...Rapture!

A city where the artist would not fear the censor, where the scientist would not be limited by petty morality, where the great would not be constrained by the small!

And with the sweat of your brow, Rapture can become your city as well..."

My favorite line by him:

"It was not impossible to build Rapture under the sea. It was impossible to build it anywhere else."

My favorite line Ryan says is the one where you come into a room and he begins to activate the self destruct sequence for Rapture and he says. .

"A time to create and a time to destroy!"

That has to be my favorite line from Ryan not because of its content but because how he delivers it, like he's just fed up with it all and would rather send Rapture to the bowels of hell than have it run by anyone else.

I like his audio log about the big daddies and little sisters. I don't have an exact quote, but at the end of it he says something like "I understand the need for such creatures... I just wish we could make them... more presentable."

He sounds like a upper class fellow who just can't stomach the necessities of the city he created. It's interesting to hear that inflection, and it was well acted.

I rather like: ""Even in a book of lies you sometimes find truth." and the whole paragraph after it. :)

I like the diary where Ryan is rambling about not believing in god but the 'chain of industry'.

"The chain is too powerful and too mysterious for any government to guide. Any man who tells you different either has his hands in your pocket, or a pistol to your neck".

Reading between the lines I read it as Ryan calling himself god - he ruled Rapture's market and made the law. ("A few stretched necks are a small price to pay for our ideals")... he sees himself as the creator of that chain.

It made me admire and despise him at the same time.

It's not really something he said, but what he wrote.

At the beginning, as you enter Rapture, the massive red sign saying "No Gods or Kings, only Man." with his statue above it.

"Even in a book of lies you sometimes find truth. There is indeed a season for all things, and now that I see you flesh to flesh, blood to blood, I know I cannot raise my hand against you. But know this, you are my greatest disappointment. Does your master hear me? Atlas! You can kill me, but you can never have my city! My strength is not in steel or fire, that is what the parasites will never understand. A season for all things, a time to live, and a time to die. A time to build, and a time to destroy! Come now my child, there is one last thing to discuss."

The opening "Welcome to Rapture" monologue paired with the musical score, paired with the unveiling of Rapture is the most beautifully crafted piece in any game I've played.

i loved everytime he spoke. He is probaly the best character ever concieved for video games. As for my fav, i loved the opening dialouge with the bathysphere trip.
also, the one in ryan industries where he says, "a worm looks up and sees the face of god, but look, its a convention of worms" as soon as i heard that i noticed the impaled bodies, sent chills down my spine. \

I also liked the diary where he reflects on the past war with fontaine, and he still refuses to doubt his philosophy, only his mistakes.

plus, the a man chooses, a slave obeys. that made me think, which is something im not accustomed to in video games.

would you kindly kneel, waht gets me if he new that we were being cotrolled why didnt he give us orders not to kill him

i think it was because his time was over, he knew he was going to die.

mine is "The assassin has overcome my final defense, and now he's come to murder me. In the end, what separates a man from a slave? Money? Power? No, a man chooses, a slave obeys. You think you have memories. A farm, a family, an airplane, a crash, and then this place. Was there really a family? Did that plane crash, or was it hijacked, forced down, forced down by something less than a man? Something bred to sleepwalk through life, until they're activated by a simple phrase spoken by their kindly master? Was a man sent to kill? Or a slave? A man chooses, a slave obeys. Come here, stop, would you kindly? 'Would you kindly'. A powerful phrase, a familiar phrase. Sit, would you kindly? Stand, would you kindly? Run! Stop. Turn! A man chooses, a slave obeys."

now, Would you kindly give me a cookie?

(also, if this were a fontaine thread, i would choose "Now, would you kindly get stepped on by a big daddy?" that was hilarious)

Agreed. When I saw that for the first time in the demo, my jaw dropped to the floor. It was just so epic, the kind of thing that you only ever see in the best films. I knew I was in for a treat then. :D

Aye, that was perhaps one of his problems, he always worked hard, probably hardest, but he was never poor or at the bottom of society thus he could perhaps understand the theory quite well, but not the reality. I've heard people say that "The dificult part is your first million, after that the snowball starts rolling". As Peach puts it:

The Irish porkpie offered me a deal. I flip 'em Fontaine, and I walk out of here. That simple. How do I know that fat **** isn't Fontaine's guy? How do I know they're not all Fontaine's guy? Fontaine's got Adam and everybody wants it. Ryan's got a whole lot of talk and a nice suit. Even down here, any idiot can see which way the wind is blowing.

And yes, I wouldn't be suprised if in a poll Ryan won 10/10 best quotes.

We all come down here, figured we'd all be part of Ryan's Great Chain. Turns out Ryan's chain is made of gold, and ours are the sort with the big iron ball around your ankle. He's up in Fort Frolic banging fashion models... we're down in this dump yanking guts outta fish. Fontaine's promising something better. He's like one-a us, you know, like he's worked a day in his life. He says meet him at his fish-packing joint at 11. I'll go, bring a couple of guys. Hey, it's not like things could get a lot worse.
