Same size 'Maps' regardless of what size I choose!

Since my computer has updated Civ V throught Steam, the size of ALL of the maps starts out small...I have tried and tried to get it to change, but it doesn't change....Please Help!!

How have you tried to change the map size setting?

Going into the a New game and setting up the size of the map by the corresponding name on the pull down.
Adjusting the resolution from the desktop as well as from in the graphics setting area in-game.

The size of the map and minimap depends on how much you have explored. You won't be able to scroll around a lot until you have explored more of the map. Then your main screen and the minimap will expand.

After you select a map size and start the game, what map size does the game tell you its playing (main menu drop down, details). Is it what you selected? When you exit game set up are you saving the changes and going back to the prior play game menu or are you hitting the play now button on the set up screen bottom.

As noted above, the map on the screen grows as you explore to match the type of map you have slected. Also the number of CS's and civs changes with map size. I go random on each game start and the game mechnics seem to work fine in setting up every size of map.
