I'm reading a lot of posts where people are disappointed with the length of the game because they beat it in 9 hours. What is the length of completion for everybody? For me It was probably close to 20 hours. If you follow the arrow to each checkpoint and blast through things then yes, maybe 10 hours of gameplay. But I found that there are A LOT of rooms around that you don't necessarily have to visit. I always went in those to get extra ammo, etc. I also found ammo pretty scarce. There were times where I was running around with 3 buck shots, 7 pistol rounds, etc. I tried not to use the Chemical Thrower or Grenade Launcher except for Big Daddy's and Bosses.

40+ hours the first time around, on medium.

My 2nd run I'm on now... I'm taking it slowly to check out all the neat stuff.

Roughly 23 hours for me on my first run. I'm still in the middle of my 2nd run, so I'm not sure about that one yet.

from the first game to the last the yellow arrow was shut off for me...it was bothering me from the beginning...so i turned it off, that gives you a better freedom in the game..

for me it was about 25hours +

Wow. 40 hours the first time and you weren't taking time to look at stuff? Do you have it on the 360? Maybe it takes longer on the 360 since you have to navigate with a controller ::shudders::

Yes, I have it on the 360. Took a while, still at it, to learn how to play an FPS with the controller for the 360. Getting there though. I usually play FPS on the PC. Also, if I am not happy with a fight, lost too much health or med/eve packs or ammo, I replay the fight. I spend a lot of time on the save and load screens of the game.

I'm the same way. I'm assuming you didn't use the Vita-Chambers either? I guess we're just old-school FPS'ers.

Using the Vita-Chambers...absolutely not. I wish I could turn them off completely so I wouldn't have to end up in them every time I die. All they are to me, is an unneccessary wait until I can reload again. I don't understand why they are in the game in the first place since we can save/reload at any given time/point in the game.

my first go it took 2 to 3 days, dont know exactly the amount of hours.
now i go through it on easy in a day, or less :p just to say "in your face big daddy, it used to take you around 10 trap bolts to take you down, now 2 is used to make you slide to my feet and stop" :p

About 16 hours for me! Thats pretty long for what is essentially a FPS but the abrupt ending made it seem shorter than it was. A good length overall but could have been similer length to System Shock 2 which seemed like ages but was totally worth the time!

My first run through on hard took me about 14-15 hours. I was very familiar with the "Shock" series so the gameplay itself was very easy to pick up. Way too easy, but I loved it all the same.:)

3 days not-straight.

I dunno how long, I started on hard and made sure to explore every nook and cranny, so maybe 30 hours?

System Shock 1 + 2 are the predicessors to Bioshock.

Ah yes, I knew that. For some reason I was thinking that there was a comic book or animated series that I was unfamiliar with.

Think the game really has two speeds.

fighter and searcher

if you just run through each level, do the tasks and fight the splicers your gonna play through this one pretty quick, even if you put it on hard.

however if your a searcher it will take much longer, especially if you dont cheat with a guide, find all the tonics, diarys and little sisters, plus you will get SOOO much more out of the game.

I was a searcher and it took me 2 1/2 days to complete on hard with no guide, got all bar two achievments (missed a tonic and forgot to fully research the bots DUMB!!). But to put that into context i play most games on 'hard' mode and on average single player does usually take me about 3 days, so found this Bio no easier or harder than others just much much more enjoyable!!!

I stretched my playing over the course of a week and a half, so it seemed like forever. But the time spent was totally worth it.

Same here, 9 days, about 26 hours (saved all LSs). On play number 2, hard this time (harvesting all LSs), probably lookin' at 16 hours or so. Then one more time on hard with saving all LSs, and using faqs and such to get absolutely everything, probably take about 18-20 hours for that one. All in all about 60 hours of gameplay, and that's BEFORE I take a brake for a couple of months, then come back to it when I've forgotten where everything is ;)
