Can MAC versions of Civ V not play with Windows Versions? Also is the online community dead in Civ V? Cause I never see any games that I can join is in progress.
You should join the Mac Steam Group to play with other Mac users. The ingame lobby is broken and region locked.
We are over 150 players in the Mac Group, but we barely play anymore because Firaxis and 2k games are not supporting the multiplayer.

The game is not dead, but unfortunately the MAC players base is small, in the PC community we get around the regional steam games list by using the Civplayers steam chat, much like the MAC groups steam chat, but ours is alot more active.
Unfortunately until Aspyr and Firaxis cooperate more closely it will always take ages for Aspyr to patch the MAC game to be compatable with the PC game.

Could you post when patch 1.0.1.217 (or later) will be available for Mac version of the game (Civ5) ?
Tried searching forums - but can't find anything. Same bugs listed as fix in the Windows version exist on Mac.

I had a problem where I saw nobody online too, after a patch. (I believe it was .217) and afte rI while I got fed up and went in and changed the version and FiraxisBuild numbers in the .plist to look exactly like a PC's and I coudl play with PC people and see other people online again.
This is probably a completely moot point since they came out with a yet another brand new patch that's huge for the PC but not for the ☺☺☺☺ing mac. Again.
Join the Mac Steam group I started:
Civilization 5 Mac Players.
We are over 200 Mac players and you can find a game pretty much every night if you add friends or schedule an event and invite people to the chat room.
