Multiplayer not working anymore

I tried playing multiplayer at the release and remember the game had many mp bugs at that moment. Now that I wish to try mp again I can't find any internet games at all. Do I need to open any ports on my router? I don't recall I had to do it before..

Steam uses a regional latency filtered games list, with fewer MP players around if you are not using NY, London or Frankfurt, likely you will just not see any games in your list. But feel free to come to the CivPlayers Steam Chat lobby, alot of MP players from around the world hang out their and using a steam chat room gets around the regional limitations of the games list used in the game.

Click on Chat(steam req) link on the left menu at www.civplayers.com

You can join games in a steam chat room by clicking on a hosts name in the list and clicking Join Game.

I will certainly check out the chat, however I am still confused why there aren't any games at all listed. I could join games a couple of months ago but not anymore.

Because a lot of the early MP players got fed up with all the problems have have stopped playing MP, and/or moved on to other games, this happened around mid November, approx 1.5 months after release. Even Civplayers that normally consists of the hard core MP players saw a drastic decrease in players and games played.

It has increased a bit since the last patch, but no were near what it was like in the first month.
